Stayed here few weeks ago daughter payed over £300 for the room thinking it would be luxurious anything but. No luxury toiletries cheap toilet roll .I left my charger and expensive vivienne westwood earrings and another pair under the pillow and my charger,my fault I know but tried in vain to get them back seemingly there was no sign of them I find it strange that even the charger was not noticed and the earrings 🙃
Breakfast was good and Sean was amazing never one apology for my lost stuff probably seen me as a nuisance .
Stayed here back in August and very dubious to write this but feel its the right thing.
Upon arrival had the most wonderful and warm welcome.
Decor was moody but magical and very fitting with the theme.
Having been shown our room the first impression was wow.
It was huge , immaculate and impressive.
Few cosmetic details could be touched up eg floor in the bathroom the lino was warn , lower doors were chipped, jet bath was producing black from the jets but didnt put me off.
Approx 00.30 my daughter woke me up claiming the air con was making a noise but was not the case.
Infact the room was leaking in the bedroom and the bathroom through the ceiling.
Called reception and was moved swiftly but being in such a deep sleep was a inconvenience especially with a 14 year on tow.
Turned out the room above had left the bath running and hand come through to our room.
I made the complaint on check out and was advised to contact the manager which I did.
I was then offered a 50% discount for another stay for the inconvenience.
I replied with dates suitable , 12 weeks on still not heard anything.
Very disappointed at the fact something out of my control and the time of the evening and no current confact.
Really disappointed this time! We stayed here 2 years ago for my son’s 18th and had a fantastic stay, so we were very much looking forward to returning. We booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers which was mostly fine, some minor points like the spotlights were out above the dressing table, and the room was so dark it was hard to actually get ready. And cheap, thin toilet roll did not go down well. A decent quality of toilet paper should be standard in a hotel surely?! The biggest issue was the second room we had booked for our son. This must have been some sort of disabled access room, as the shower was fixed to the wall at about four foot high, which meant our 6 foot something son had absolutely no chance of standing under it! The bathroom itself smelt vile, like sewage, the flooring was worn and looked dirty, and it was just generally unpleasant. He didn’t make a fuss but I wouldn’t have stayed in there! Another issue was the bar had no lager on draft, given it was the Friday of a very busy weekend in Liverpool I thought this was really poor. We headed out for food for a couple of hours and were told our room cards would access the front door when we returned. This was not the case, at 8pm we got back to the hotel and couldn’t get in as neither of the cards worked. We were ringing the door bell and knocked on the glass door as we could see the lady on reception, but she was clearly busy (but with no guests in the foyer) and left us there for a good while before coming to open the door which I thought was quite rude. Cold breakfast options were ok, but people asked for ‘hot’ items to be warmed up in a microwave as they were cold on the buffet servers. On check out we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay, if we had I would have have raised all of the issues that we had. Not sure if the hotel has changed management since our last stay, but the experiences were worlds apart, and sadly we will likely book elsewhere in future
A basic hotel that does the job if coming to Liverpool and planning on being out and about. We had a jacuzzi bath in the room which I really enjoyed. Room was clean. Decor was old fashioned and outdated but this was all part of the vibe it's going for and we did like it.
Breakfast was basic with friendly staff. Nice cocktails also.
We have just come back from staying in the Dixie Dean, it was fantastic from start to finish. The location was superb, as was the breakfast. I couldn't say enough about the the staff they were so nice and accommodating. We will def be back
Stayed here last night, 26/10/2025 but disappointed wasnt worth the money for a £300 plus room showers were tepid no luxury toiletries this just my observation.
