Location and customer service
Nothing
The hotel is close to everything, including the train station, the staff are super friendly and the rooms are top rate. Its a quality experience to stay at The Vermont and the only place I would stay in when in Newcastle
The bed was very comfortable and clean.
Confusing that it is on different levels for different entrances, but that’s because it sits on a hill
Location was excellent. Breakfast was lovely. Staff very helpful even let me check in earlier
Steam room sauna not working . The room on the 10th floor was very noisy at night disco going on over head. Only one lift working
Great location - Lovely buildings and rooms.
Great staff.
All of it
It was all great
Perfect location. Nicely appointed and decorated. Professional and polite staff.
Fell a little short of what could reasonably expected. Very intrusive noise from music on the Saturday evening until 6am (didn’t seem to be coming from outside—I went outside to check) poor quality pillows. Food at breakfast wasn’t very nice (over seasoned to the point of being inedible smashed Avocado, concentrate juices rather than fresh, and mass produced standard of cooked breakfast).
A hotel with stylish features and friendly receptionist and concierge. Great location to explore quayside and surrounding area
One of the lifts was out of action , therefore waiting time was expected. However on 2 occasions staff were transporting dirty cutlery from one floor to the next whilst we were inside. Second occasion two maintenance men were moving a rusty old bbq from ground floor. Instead of allowing us as guests to go first they simply got in the lift. We ended up walking up 6 floors to our room. It was also dismay to find that breakfast was now buffet and not waiter service, the food was overcooked and/or luke warm at best.

Lift down to the quayside
The staff are polite and the hotel bar does a good range of drinks and is open late.
Door did not lock, hard push could open it without a key card from the outside. Inside the lock mechanism was worn and stiff, so couldnt fully lock.
TV poor reception and mirror function didnt work.
Hard dryer burnt out, sounded on its last legs when wife turned it on, couple seconds after smokey and went off. Was replaced after going down to reception but had to follow up with a call, 45mins for a replacement, not ideal when getting dressed and dinner reservation to make.
Lovely public areas & easy access to the quayside via a lift.
A short walk from the train station.
The bathroom needs updating. It had a fixed shower head on the wall over the bath.
Also it was hard to regulate the room temperature.
Breakfast was the worst breakfast I ever eaten ,and wasnt worth a fiver let alone what i was charged
