Pros:

Great location, delicious food and comfortable room. Cool beach vibe for hanging out. Good selection of cocktails and mocktails.

Cons:

It was less relaxing than usual due to extensive renovations going on. The hotel warned us in advance and we accepted that it would be noisy. The level of noise at lunch however made it difficult to relax while we waited for our room to be ready. In the end, we had a good time anyway but will return after the renos are finished.

Pros:

Quaint, clean, and well maintained. The staff truly went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming—everyone works very hard. Our room was huge and comfortable, and the pool was a great place to relax.

Cons:

Beach access felt a bit awkward—you have to walk through the dining area to reach it, which isn’t ideal when you’re in swimwear and trying to be modest. We ended up using the street access to the beach instead. The nearby concrete construction was extremely loud; at one point there was welding just a few metres away and the noise and fumes sent us back to our room. We even stayed in our room for breakfast twice because the construction made the common areas less enjoyable. A small suggestion for the room would be a long bench at the foot of the bed for luggage. Once the construction is finished, I’m sure this place will be fantastic.

Disappointing due to construction
Pros:

The staff is very friendly!

Cons:

I am sure this is a nice place to stay when it is not under construction, but I think the property needs to be more upfront about the remodelling that is currently happening. After you make the booking (which is non-refundable), they send you an email that says “you may experience some occasional movement or noise near the restaurant area”. This is very misleading as the hotel is currently a construction site. To make bookings non-refundable and not offer discounted rates during the construction phase (which isn’t mentioned anywhere on booking.com) is not in good faith. I unfortunately cannot say that the stay was worth what I paid.

They should have just closed for construction.
Pros:

The staff seemed very friendly. It was very clean. The location is good and the view is very nice.

Cons:

There was constant, loud, nuisance construction noise. After I had made my non-refundable booking, I got an email to say there may be occasional noise at the restaurant. This was a severe underestimation. There was constant noise across the entire hotel. When I entered the hotel, it was like walking directly into a construction site, there were 10ish workers carrying wood around and a lady who looked very confused when I said I was trying to check in. There was constant jackhammering etc. from 8 am to around 6 pm. It wasn't just outside either, the drilling vibrations and noise travelled into the room and so it was not enjoyable to be in the room during the day. I asked what time the construction would stop and was told 5 pm, I tried to go into the pool after this time but there was still construction noise next door. At breakfast, the jackhammering was so loud that I could not hear and did not enjoy breakfast at all. I complained once but the worker shrugged it off at that time. If I give her the benefit of the doubt, she may not have been able to hear me. It is probably unhealthy for staff to be exposed to the noise. The second time I raised it, they did treat it more seriously but I still had a bad time.

Because of the noise, I viewed my entire experience with a negative lens. We booked for a surf lesson for 6:45 am, but the instructor did not show up until after 7 am. The lesson was okay but not great. I felt I was treated differently than my male companion, even though I had more surf experience and skills, and I didn't feel there was much encouragement or sport. Lessons can be found cheaper anywhere else in town.

The eggs benedict page is really only egg benedict as it comes with a meager portion of one egg and half a bread roll. A beer was like $4 when the night before, I had them for $1.5 in Juayua.

The water pressure was low and there is no lower tap to wash the sand off your feet, or spout near the ground floor, and so the room got very sandy.

Nice place and they’re working to make it better by building new facilities
Pros:

Great location. Very friendly staff. Restaurant had some nice dishes and breakfast was awesome.

Cons:

Definitely a surfing beach and not a swimming beach. But beautiful views. As others have mentioned, they are doing some major reconstruction/building a new pool. Construction workers working between 9 to 4 Ish. I tried to go out of the hotel at that time.
