Underwhelmed
Pros:

Pearl St- Rooms were spacious, and comfortable, large bathroom, comfortable bed, flexible check in time, parking next door, close to center of uptown.

Cons:

Lots of street noise, no water kettle in room, too small fridge, could not adjust temperature the day of checkout. The furniture layout was not ideal. Stairs to second floor were creaky. No coffee one morning in the first floor common area.

Pros:

The location was great, but the room was on the second floor and it wasn't what we expected. My husband has knee problems and it was hard for us. Plus it said about complimentary tea, coffee and some pastries. There was nothing like this.

Bad and bizarre - book at your own peril
Pros:

In August 2025 I booked a 2-queen room for my family of four to stay at Hotel Kinsley during mid-June of 2026. In January (five months later, but still five months before our stay), I called the hotel to make a slight change to the reservation, which they made. An hour after this call, Charlie (their Guest Services Manager) called me to say that the last two days of our stay had been double-booked by a wedding that had booked every room on the property. Note again that this is FIVE MONTHS after I made the booking. (I suspect the double-booking would not have been caught had I not made the slight change to the booking.)

I did not want to change hotels mid-stay, but given that Hotel Kinsley was kicking us out for the last two days of our booking, Charlie offered to send alternative options. I agreed to look at the options she sent, stating that I'd like a room that reflected our original booking (a 2-queen room, or alternatively adjacent rooms). I followed up with an email the next week after not hearing from Charlie. I also said that I understood the cost of thei change would be covered by the hotel.

Charlie replied 1) with rooms that did not fit the description above and 2) stating that they would only cover up to their rate. I reiterated that we had booked a 2-queen room and that, at minimum, is what we'd like to have from an alternative hotel. I mentioned The Inness (which is a more expensive hotel), because Charlie had not offered comparable alternatives, and based on my research and asking friends, The Inness looked like it had a room that would suit our needs. Further, The Inness is under the same ownership as Hotel Kinsley so given the circumstances it seemed like something could be worked out.

THREE WEEKS LATER, after another email from me inquiring, Charlie replied, suggesting a room at the Inness with a king bed and a couch (again, not meeting our request), a discount on the nights there, and suggesting that we could use an air mattress, or seek out an Airbnb. Nice.

The most bizarre part comes next: she canceled our booked days at Hotel Kinsley. Not the dates that had conflicts -- ALL of our dates. Without my request. So now our ENTIRE RESERVATION is canceled. And while Charlie offered to reinstate it IF MY PLANS CHANGED, obviously I will not ever be staying at Hotel Kinsley.

When a hotel double-books, doesn't notice the double-booking, relies on the client to call attention to it, doesn't follow up on several occasions, doesn't supply suitable alteratives, and then cancels the entire reservation because they clearly just don't feel like dealing with an unimportant client, the message is clear. Book here at your own peril.

Would return! We love the location.
Pros:

The room was EXTREMELY dry. To the point where we were feeling sick the next day. I would suggest perhaps a humidifier but all in all the room was extremely nice and cleanly.

We liked the hotel, but the breakfast and schnitzel were not good.
Pros:

Location was fine and a nice walk from Pearl Street. The decor in the restaurant was attractive and comfortable.

Cons:

There should be black tea, but there was none. There was no decaf coffee and the coffee was not hot. There was no half and half. The boiled eggs were cold and tasted old. There was no yogurt that was without sugar
