Be aware! My son had a shower and set off the fire alarm. It was a very cold day so lots of steam when he opened the bathroom door. The bathrooms extractor wasn’t working so all the steam was just sitting in there and came out when he opened the door. They tried to charge us $1800 for the fire brigade, and when I refuse to pay, they kept my $200 bond. We will never stay there again and we have turned people off saying they’re also who have cancelled their book. If you don’t have a shower we staying on holidays, when can you?

Pros:

Just needed a place to stay in Gladstone between flying in and taking the ferry. The Gladstone Hotel was clean, comfortable and easy to access.

Avoid - drug use
Cons:

The whole 3rd floor (my floor) smelt/reeked of marijuana, despite all the 'non-smoking' signs. The mini fridge in my room didn't work, which was disappointing. After checkout, the receptionist incorrectly charged $158 to my credit card - someone else's bill, and I had to call to rectify. Poor form.

Room, bed and bathroom were lovely and clean.

Cons:

Light switches were hard to switch on/off and their location around the room was confusing.

Hallway noise was LOUD, I would recommend a rubber door seals for the bottom of the door, or similar..... Sat night and kids were inside their rooms and I could hear them (they were several doors down, so it wasn't neighbour/wall noise).
