The hotel is beautiful. The beds very comfortable and the shower was great!!
The check-in was just bad. No one at front desk to greet us. Girl came out of back still chewing, seems we interrupted her meal and she let us know she was annoyed. Never said hello welcome to the brown, how was your trip in, etc… not welcoming at all. When we had questions she just kept telling us to take it up with the booking site we used Booking.com. Told us hotel was sold out when we wanted to change rooms, later found out that was not true. Just left a bad feeling to start our stay with the Brown, such an iconic hotel should not have the first person that greets you behave in such a manner. We over looked the spoils of one bad employee and moved on. Only mentioning this so perhaps hotel management can give her some more training. They are the face of your brand!!
Beautiful old hotel, good location.
Could not adjust the room temperature. Hotel was a bit over priced. The wait staff in hotel restaurant were very mediocre.
While we did not stay at The Brown, we had The Brown in the restaurant, it is worth the hype! The lobby areas of the hotel are just amazing!
Food was great. The water pressure was awesome. The elevator sleep was rocket-like .
More than 1/2 dining tables empty and unable to get a table for dinner.
Its history.
Location - lots of homeless in the area. Having armed security was reassuring but concerning. Felt uncomfortable walking around the neighborhood.
The furnishings are tired. A refresh is indicated.
The restaurant was out of roasted chicken on Sunday. On Tuesday the restaurant was still out of chicken but also two additional entrees on the menu. Was told the menu was changing the next day for derby. Breakfast on Wednesday morning cost $60 for two - dynamic pricing?
Location, quiet room, excellent bed, spacious, helpful staff, very nice public spaces
Need more bartenders and more seating on evenings there is an event downtown, particularly at the Palace.
The convenience and beauty
My wife and I went to the Brown Hotel on May 8, 2026 and ordered the Hot Brown. We were served by two very friendly and gracious servers, one, I didn't get her name but she was from Kenya and we said: "How are you" in hr native tongue!" The second server is name Emir. He took time in sharing with us about the Hot Brown and brought us the recipe in cooking it. As a result of their representation of the Brown Hotel, we intend in telling others about this Hotel and the gracious service they provide . . . and how delicious the Hot Brown is!
The hotel is beautiful
No breakfast
The history, design, location, guest services are all very nice
It is in need of an update. Lots of carpets are either too worn to clean, paint on trim, TVs need updated. We were on 8th floor and shower took forever to warm up and not much water pressure at all.
Beautiful old building
The staff in the bar
Decor… it’s classic.
Aging and disrepair throughout the hotel.
So elegant and beautiful, good location
The bathroom was not perfectly clean. And yes, while I understand perfection isn’t always easily attainable, wiping off a mirror and cleaning a sink to completion really is a simple task.
The hotel lobby is beautiful. The room is old and the headboard was not attached so it banged everytime we turned in the bed. No lotion or nice appointments. It was just ok
the room is tired we were in 1103. head board was broken bed not very comfortable pillows tired
