We were celebrating a birthday & had been recommended the afternoon tea spa package by friends. We weren't disappointed! The afternoon tea was served by very friendly staff, Tirso was particularly attentive and made sure we had a lovely time. Our spa treatments were excellent, both ladies in the spa were professional & we came out feeling relaxed & refreshed.
Stayed here in March 2026 to visit some friends in Newcastle and I had the most amazing time from start to finish.
The amazing welcome from Dave at Reception was just the best (apparently he won best welcome in the North East - and I can see why!) Claire and Neil at Reception were equally as friendly and helpful whenever I needed anything.
The room was just divine! The hotel has undergone a refurbishment recently and it really pays off. I had been upgraded to a Suite and I must say the room was so big, had a very comfy bed and a beautiful view down the Tyne. Lovely products in the bathroom too, and that bathtub is amazing!
I didn’t have a chance to eat at the hotel as there are so many amazing options nearby, but I did get a chance to visit the bar and I have to say that Shaun makes a mean negroni. Breakfast was great every morning and I was well looked after by both Tessie and Tirso who are a credit to the hotel and went above and beyond to ensure I was content and had everything I needed.
Thoroughly recommend the hotel and suggest you visit to see the refurbishment and meet the amazing team!
Such lovely staff at Malmason Newcastle, Tirso served me and breakfast and was delightful and great food!
Great hotel - really comfortable rooms, nice decor and good location right opposite the Millennium Bridge. Good breakfast and very attentive staff, especially Tirso who couldn’t have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend if ever you need a comfortable stay in Newcastle that ticks all the boxes.
Great location, easy fast check in, parking felt a bit tight in the multistory with a pickup. Thanks Tirso at the breakfast bar offering me a coffee to go for my long leaving journey. Great, friendly customer service.
My partner planned a suprise proposal , the brilliant lady Leda set up the room perfectly we couldn’t of asked for anything better, we appreciate everything this hotel did to make our night so special , not only that the room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful and it wasn’t even an upgraded room , absolutely perfect , would definitely recommend and definitely coming back.
Once again we had a really good meal here. I love how we are never rushed and can stay for as long as we want. The staff as always are great.
Definitely one of our favourite places.
Seriously need to reduce the size of the crème brulée though... it's a daunting task trying to get through it
Fab night, staff were so friendly. Special mention to Tessie at breakfast who was so so happy, positive and really so lovely, our little girl wanted her to come home with us xx
Whent for breakfast in the morning and I have to say that Tessie was so helpful and friendly made our breakfast a joy have. She was very professional but a felt like a knew her for years .
My sister and I had a great time at the Malaison in Newcastle.
The hotel sits right on the river front or Quay side.
Great location to walk everywhere. Had a couple of drinks in the bar. Had a great chat with the young man behind the bar. Big shoutout to James. Would return to this hotel again very centrally located, good food and great service. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay.
Bedding unacceptable.Obviously not checked and should have never been used.
Absolutely great hotel, friendly helpful staff. We had a large Quayside room with great views, very clean and pleasant.
Good breakfast and served by a lovely friendly happy lady by the name of Tessie. Will stay again maybe in July and would definitely recommend.
Really great stay at the Malmaison, made even better by great service at breakfast from Tirso!
Had a recent stay was fabulous staff so helpful unfortunately left an important and expensive item in Bathroom did not notice till we got home to westlothian contacted hotel and cleaning staff had retrieved item hotel very kindly arranged to send back to me all I had to go was organised a prepaid envelope got item returned to me within a few days thank you so much
This hotel is superb. Developed very tastefully from the former Cooperative Society building and located just a stone’s throw from the Tyne Quayside, the experience of staying at the Malmaison is unforgettable. Approaching the building gives a wonderful view of the impressive facade and, once inside, the warmest of welcome awaits you. Every member of staff we met could not have been more helpful, friendly and professional; a special mention must be made of Tirso who works in the restaurant at breakfast time and who has been here every time we have stayed at the Malmaison over the last 20 years. He greets us like long-lost friends and is always smiling and always cheerful as well as being helpful, professional and attentive. We really look forward to seeing him whenever we stay and he helps confirm our opinion of the hotel as being outstanding. Apart from the wonderful staff members, rooms at Malmaison are large, comfortable, well-equipped and spotlessly clean and the restaurant serves delicious meals including a copious breakfast. The hotel is well-placed for strolling along the Tyne and walking into town. We’ll be back!
I stayed at the Malmaison with my wife while she was on a work trip and the hotel and hospitality at the restaurant was incredible. My waiter, Tirso was very kind and attentive. I’d highly recommend the hotel and restaurant to anyone!
The hotel is well positioned, clean, convenient and the staff are wonderful. I would like to give special mention to Tirso who served me at breakfast. What an absolute delightful ray of sunshine! He was so attentive and couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. He smiled from ear to ear and made sure it was the most pleasant start to the day before I checked out. Thank you, Tirso! You are made for hospitality.
Excellent room and comfortable surroundings and the breakfast was well presented with great produce.
MalThe staff in the bar very helpful and accommodating especially Jasmin who made a mean cocktail and their happy hour is worth a visit Monday-Thursday 15:00-19:00
We booked to stay overnight in February. The room is nice and spacious and the hotel itself is nicely decorated. Rooms very clean also.
There is parking near that was fairly cheap however the car park is very tight and if your car is low like mine going down the ramps meant the bottom would scrape.
The meal was good and the service top notch. Breakfast was also great with both buffet and al a carte options.
Would recommend for a romantic getaway / city break
A fantastic hotel, central location and lovely staff - especially Neil and Dave on reception. A great breakfast with so much option, food cooked to order and the staff couldn’t be more attentive, Tirso and Tessie kept checking that we had everything we needed and nothing was too much hassle. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Newcastle
