Nothing!
This hotel is an absolute find. One of the many bonuses of staying here is that you can gain entry to the famous Magic Castle which is a once in a life time experience.
The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and could not have been more helpful.
Apparently originally built as an apartment complex in the 50’s it has been tastefully converted into a hotel centred around a heated pool. It is very child friendly. There is on site parking.
Although situated just behind the Dolby Theatre in the heart of Hollywood once inside the very comfortable and well appointed rooms it is whisper quiet.
More bonuses include free soft serve ice cream available until 10pm; free sodas available 24hrs and incredibly you can pick up the phone in your room and order a free tray of candy day or night.
Especially delightful was the free magic show in the courtyard in the morning.
Brilliant location, best service and so many free extras why would you stay anywhere else.
We stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel for 2.5 days to wrap up a 4 week family holiday from Australia, and it was absolutely fantastic. Our kids had a ball, and honestly, the hotel treats children like royalty!
The family friendly perks here are unmatched. There is a free, help yourself soft serve ice cream and soft drink machine available all day, plus a fantastic menu of endless free snacks available on request. But the ultimate crown jewel is the poolside "Popsicle Hotline." The kids literally just pick up the bright red phone by the pool, place their order, and the wonderful staff bring out a selection of popsicles on a silver platter. It is pure magic and something our kids will be talking about for years!
Beyond the fun perks, the hotel itself is fantastic. Our room was clean and spacious, giving us plenty of room to stretch out and unpack. The location is unbeatable, tucked away just one street back from the main Hollywood action, making it a quick and easy walk to check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the TCL Chinese Theatre, and the Dolby Theatre.
What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service. Every single member of the staff was just wonderful, incredibly attentive, and went out of their way to make our stay special.
We left with full hearts (and very happy kids!). If you are traveling to LA with a family, do yourself a favor and book this hotel. We cannot recommend it highly enough!
This was an amazing hotel. Really different to our usual choice. The location was superb just a five minute walk into the centre of Hollywood but the hotel itself had a really quiet vibe. It is set above the street and so no road noise at night. We had a wonderful breakfast for each of our 3 nights stay and breakfast by the pool was accompanied by a very clever magician. The staff at the front desk were so helpful with luggage as my husband is disabled. And when we said we were off to the baseball we were given a big bag of Dodger’s peanuts to enjoy at the game. The room was spacious with good storage and the kitchen was well equipped. We had a great stay.
All wonderful, Kevin was especially great
Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The apt. was spacious and newly renovated; the service was truly exceptional; the breakfast was good and the amenities so much fun! There is soft- serve ice cream and a coke machine all day, plus coffee day & night. There is a long list of free snacks available anytime of day! Shuttle service is offered so you don’t have to climb the hill to the Magic Castle in heels!
Special thanks to Kevin Nelson, the Ftont Desk Manager, who was better than any concierge at The Four Seasons! In fact, I would highly recommend this hotel over any chain hotel for its location, it’s fun ambience (popsicle-themed) and, especially its service!
Close to the castle
Everything was very convenient
This is a fabulous hotel with an old school charm. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the location, great to explore Hollywood and an easy 10 minute Uber ride to Universal Studios. The kids loved the free ice cream, snacks and soda and swimming in the pool after a day exploring.
If you go expecting 5* accommodation then you will be disappointed. Although the service is certainly 5* plus, parts of the hotel are showing their age but it was generally clean and it wouldn't put me off recommending this hotel as a great place to stay.
Great experience. Staff is amazing. Kevin was working the front desk when we checked in, he was absolutely fantastic: friendly, funny and full of energy. He went the extra mile and assisted us with carrying our luggage up the stairs. The unlimited snacks and treats were a family hit. I even broke my diet to partake in the sugar party with the kids (17 and 19 so not really “kids”). Overall we had a blast, and yge experience at the magic castle did not disappoint either!
L’accueil est super , le personnel est d’une extrême gentillesse et vraiment prêt à aider. L’hôtel est incroyablement bien situé , confortable et remplis d’attention ( gratuite) qui on ravi petits et grands merci 🙏🏻
Free snacks, heated pool and very helpful staff.
This place is a hidden gem in the heart of Hollywood. We took a local staycation about an hour from our home and stayed here with our two boys. It is conveniently located a 5 minute walk from the Chinese Theater and all of the "touristy" things Hollywood has to offer. It also is just far enough away to be its own relaxing little bubble, which we loved.
The hotel is a total vibe with it being an old mid-century apartment complex, surrounding the center pool and communal area. Every staff member we met was super welcoming and friendly. Their daily breakfast was the usual continental breakfast with toast, cereal (6 choices), fruit, yogurt, coffee, etc. They have complimentary assorted snacks and a Coke Freestyle machine available 24 hours a day. They also have free soft serve ice cream cones available in the afternoon and next to the nicely heated pool is their famous "popsicle hotline". While swimming, you can pick up the red phone and in a minute out walks the white glove delivery of popsicles on a silver platter. My kids absolutely loved this! It is such a fun touch.
The room was clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable. Being an old building, there was a small wall AC unit that was kind of loud, but also the widows could be opened to allow in the cool night air. The room also had two fans you could use if needed and a small space heater available as well, in the closet. There was an actual fridge and kitchen with a stove in our room which was the smallest "studio" room.
Our only complaint was the bathroom. It was was definitely old and could use some updating. The tub knobs leaked and squeaked and got water all over and there was really no counter space to be had. Also it would have been nice to have a bedside table or nightstand next to both beds. The only one was in the corner of the room and we ended up just putting a chair between the beds and using that as a makeshift table. These little things were definitely nothing that would keep us from coming back tough.
The staff and the little touches were really what made this place for us! We will definitely be returning at some point.
I’ve been the magic castle many times and always heard that the hotel is a hidden gem. It’s right in the heart of Hollywood- easy walk to everything, rooms are big (actual apartments) and hospitality is amazing - champagne greeting, soft serve machine, popsicle hotline, unlimited snacks, etc. Shout out to Kevin the Front Desk Manager who learned all our names! I would definitely recommend to families traveling who want to explore Hollywood and surrounding areas.
Me eh like-e the water up front for customers.
I didn’t like the neighbors they were from the ghetto south central area .
Great location, close to the Metro, Hollywood sights. The hotel is unique & a really warm & friendly place to stay. Staff provide a wonderful welcome & great service. Manager Kevin was really helpful on arrival, & raced up the steps carrying both our very heavy bags! Our one bedroom apartment was really spacious, comfortable & the kitchen was great. Loved the balcony overlooking the pool, the excellent free breakfast & the self-serve ice cream machine! There's also free laundry & secure parking. Loved the place & will definitely return.
Takes a bit of figuring out to get the shower working but everything was great!
The hotel was so family friendly! My kiddos enjoyed the pool, especially the popsicle hotline and complimentary snacks. The hotels location was great, near the walk of stars and universal. One of the best hotels!
