We just had a great long holiday weekend at La Casa Del Camino. It’s got the California beach vibe we wanted in an authentic historic building on the main road thru Laguna Beach. Conveniently located just outside the busy main beach area, so it’s more relaxing and literally steps from the beach. Plenty of coffee shops, shopping and restaurants in either direction. The staff was friendly (shout-out to Rachel & Kayla) and the rooftop restaurant has amazing views and a great selection of food & drinks. Loved hearing the waves, smelling the sea salt and watching the sunsets. Can’t get back soon enough.
Location
Everything else, the hotel is extremely old with a smell of mold in the rooms, we expected view to the ocean but there is only few rooms facing the ocean and they’re trying to say it’s more expensive because these room are larger, i checked they are the same size.
No food service but even if they had i probably wouldn’t eat there.
There is a rooftop restaurant with beautiful view but very basic food
Location and staff were excellent. Rooftop has gorgeous views with great staff as well. Steven did a great job with service.
No dislikes. This property was as expected and advertised.
Everyone was great. I think I got the nicest room in the hotel. It had a small balcony where you could sit and watch the world go by…
The front door needs to be adjusted so it does not SLAM when it closes, everytime. The sound radiates up to the room and would wake me up. I asked about it and it was never adjusted.
The location was great. A quick walk to the ocean.
For the price the room was mid. The sink water faucet leaked all over the counter. The water pressure in the shower was a joke. And the ac unit tubing detached so it blew hot air. Had to sleep with the window open to keep room temp nice. But no screen so bugs could fly in.
The room was also small so the ac unit was in front of the sink which made it hard to use.
Loved the hotel, its closeness to ocean, the many restaurants and shops near by. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
With a recent recommendation from a friend, my wife and I took a weekend trip to this historic hotel. Located walking distance to everything Laguna has to offer but far enough to feel exclusive. We stayed in an ocean front surf inspired room with a million dollar view! Had a great sunset cocktail from the Roof Top Bar each night is worth the weekend stay. We will be retuning as we heard they are reopening their restaurant downstairs, can't wait.
My daughter and I came down for a week long winter stay and had a fabulous time! The rooms are really nicely done with ocean/surf motifs. All was very clean and cozy. Spencer was very helpful and kind during our stay, always welcoming us back in after a day walking all around Laguna Beach. The desk staff (Akia, Ben and Ray) were always friendly and accommodating.
The hotel is just a block from the sand and a short walk to downtown Laguna. We enjoyed watching the surfers on Brooks beach with our morning coffee daily.
We can’t wait to go back and stay again.
If you have a larger group they also have a lovely casita on site that can be rented.
And don’t miss the view from the Rooftop Louge which has to be one of the best in LB.
Avoid room 108. There is no door or curtain on the bathroom. You can see that there used to be one. No bedside lamps and only a ceiling fan light and small lamp on a desk by the door, so the room is very dark in the evening. There are two windows, so it is light enough in the daytime. We booked on a discount site, so probably got the worst room in the place.
Everything! It was beautiful! Very quiet! Perfdct!
Only thing was the bed in 209 was a little rough.
It should be made very clear that the parking is across the highway. It wasn't made clear. The room they put me in was pretty horrible - the place is obvious need of updates/repairs, and was tiny tiny. There was no heat. The streaming was crappy, buffering half the time. The poor new guy was nice but was too new to be of much help. The heat/fan remote battery was really low so you couldn't make out any of the details. I've heard the restaurant is nice, and the building on the exterior is so pretty. I would NEVER stay here again however.
That I only stayed one night. There was fast food a block away.
I Liked the Location it was perfect for me.
A lot could have been better, I have sent via the hotel survey all the issues I had with the room. I don't feel I'm a picky person, but a comfortable bed would been nice, something other than a portable A/C that was exhausting into the room would have been nice, something other than a metal chair to sit on would have been nice, a functional armoire would have been nice, a faucet on the sink not flopping around and difficult to use would have been nice. I am one that does not air my complaints to staff anywhere I stay as I feel nothing will be done anyway, I feel the staff here did their job of checking guest in and out beyond that, in my case, nothing more. The cost to stay here is in no way justified by amenities or the comfort of the room.
My wife and I stayed at La Casa Del Camino for our SoCal honeymoon and had the most incredible experience! The staff truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were warm, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area.
Before arriving, I called ahead to arrange roses, chocolates, coconut water, and a few of my wife’s “favorite things” to be in the room as a surprise for her. They had everything set up beautifully! It was such a sweet, personal touch and made our stay feel instantly special and romantic.
The updated rooms were comfortable and stylish, the ocean view was STUNNING (especially being from WI!), and being right on the water with walkable access to Laguna’s shops, restaurants, and beaches was unbeatable. We also loved the 24-hour coffee and tea station, such a thoughtful amenity for tea lovers like us!
Unfortunately it rained during our stay but we made it a point to come back a different day for the Rooftop restaurant. I was surprised to see how many locals were there, enjoying the same view we traveled 2000 miles for. Once the food and drinks came out, we instantly understood the hotspot hype. They also have a rockin’ happy hour- be sure to catch a sunset while you’re up there!!
Between the service, location, views, and attention to detail, La Casa Del Camino was the perfect place to celebrate our honeymoon. We’ll absolutely be back again and again.
Thank you La Casa Del Camino!!

Everything that we needed was near by
Parking lot
Traveling south for the holidays and decided to stay the night in Laguna Beach. We found La Casa Del Camino, a charming boutique hotel. We were greeted warmly and enjoyed our short stay. The rooms are tidy, the beds comfy and I loved the big walk-in shower !
We watched the sunset from the rooftop bar before walking around the neighborhood to check out a few shops and have dinner.
The next morning, we ventured to Orange Inn for breakfast before walking to Heisler Park. Such a beautiful way to start the day.
La Casa Del Camino, located in the Hip District, is less than a mile walk from the hustle and bustle of the downtown and main shopping village.
I would definitely recommend a stay here !
We stayed at La Casa del Camino in December. We arrived in Laguna Beach two hours prior to the 4:00 check in, and called to see if the room was ready. We were told the room was ready, but there is a $50 early check in fee. I was shocked. Beware if you want to check in early...
The hotel location is great and parking is "free," paid for by the resort fee. Our quite small room had a mini ocean view, which we enjoyed.
