Shabby, shabby, shabby
Pros:

Centrally located, historical, very nice staff.

Cons:

The room I was shown at booking in April wasn’t remotely the room I was given. The kitchen was much smaller and had no microwave. It did not even have two chairs or a decent table for us to share a meal. It was shabby, with torn bedding, shabby vanity, shabby table, only one chair, a lamp that couldn’t safely be plugged in because cord was short. Spots on walls and overall mot maintained. Because of photos we received we planned on warming up food but there was no microwave. No where to sit and it was not what I expect from Booking.com for a 3 star.

I enjoyed our stay, and will definitely come back. Loved all the old history and photos.
Pros:

The room was on the Top Floor (4th floor) and it had two windows with views of downtown to east and north. Also the room was one of the dog friendly rooms and the room had a ceiling fan.

Cons:

The room was small, but to be expected with this old historical hotel.

Grateful for our stay as always
Pros:

Few places have an offering of a two bedroom, separated by a door, which we need (because I snore).
This hotel has them ...

Cons:

Placerville's Main Street is a favorite for motorcycles to roar through.
Very loud, noisy

Disappointing
Pros:

The hotel's location is very convenient.

Cons:

Despite having booked the suite with the pullout sofa and indicating to the hotel that we planned to use the sofa bed, it was not made up. I had to track down someone to give us sheets for it and then make the bed myself.

The hotel needs a lot of updating. The paint colors are awful, and wallpaper is peeling off the walls in spots. The lobby is dark and dingy.

I was hoping to impress my date by choosing a charming historic hotel. It had the opposite effect.

We’d stay again.
Pros:

Staff and the Speakeasy were great! Loved the front balcony overlooking the Main Street.

Cons:

It’s historic and old which is expected but the room could have been cleaner.

Pros:

It is a beautiful, well maintained, historic hotel from goldrush times. We had a nice stay, our roo. Was very comfortable. The location on mainstreet in Placerville was great!

Beautiful historical hotel with easy access to downtown Main Street
Pros:

Loved the location and easy access to downtown. It’s a historical hotel as well as many historical buildings on Main Street.

Cons:

I wasn’t thrilled about the hard beds, hard flat pillows, and scratchy sheets. The TV was pretty small for a room that size. I understand the historical aspect of the hotel but comfortable sleeping is key for travelers.

Pros:

The person at the reception desk was extremely kind and attentive. She made sure we got a pet-friendly room (our request didn't make it through Booking). The hotel is historic and hasn't been renovated in some time, which won't be desirable to the folks who are looking for a chain hotel bland experience. I enjoyed the character of the place. Main St. Placerville is also very sweet.

Cons:

There is a kitchenette in the room we got, which would be nice if it were equipped with anything. I found 1 fork, 1 cup, 2 plates, and nothing at all to cook in. Luckily we weren't counting on cooking, but it was odd. Oh, no dish soap, either, so I'm sorry for having left the plate we fed the dog on in the sink.

Overall nice place to stay just know it has its quirks
Pros:

We’ve stayed there a variety of times, it is consistent and has a great location

Cons:

It’s an older historic property with good character but could use some updating and TLC. Examples: Why have an alarm clock if there’s no place to plug it in by the night stand where it sat? Fix the shower knob so it’s not so loose that getting it to a decent temperature is annoying?

Slept well, AC, good, bed comfortable, good location, friendly staff.
Pros:

The lobby was very nice. A historic building for sure.

Cons:

Would have appreciated the offer of a room on a lower floor. I’m not very good with stairs and the elevator was difficult to navigate with a suitcase. I was concerned that if there was an emergency or the elevator was out of service, I would have trouble navigating four flights of stairs.
