We felt that our family was treated with prejudice, particularly toward Asian guests, and with a troubling lack of respect for women, children, and elderly people. The emotional harm caused to my child and my mother is something that cannot be ignored.
I expect the hotel to take responsibility by refunding the full booking amount and covering the unexpected expenses we were forced to incur, including transportation and accommodation elsewhere.
Great location, easy access to Central Station and the light rail. Right next door to The Capitol Theatre and Chinatown so heaps of dining options.
Only issue with the room was the sagging bed and large pillows. Room was quiet though
Very good hotel in great location in Sydney's theatreland.
Just a stone's throw from a tram stop and within walking distance (for us anyway) of the opera house and harbour bridge.
Room was modern, clean and well maintained.
Buffet breakfast was adequate, with a fair range of food - and you even got a a cup of speciality coffee made personally for you. Breakfast was in part of reception area and while it was not busy during our stay it may get crowded during busy periods.
Both breakfast and reception staff were very attentive,
And if you did not need housekeeping any particular day there is a 10$ credit to your bill.
This hotel checked all boxes. It was clean, comfortable and in a great area for our two night stay.
We had a basic room - good bed and shower. Breakfast was exactly what we needed to start our day. Room was cleaned daily but you had the option to bypass room cleaning and get a credit to spend at the hotel. Nice idea.
All staff were friendly and helpful.
It is close to Central Station as well as the light rail and we made good use of both.
Area was safe - you need a key card to get into the hotel and then onto your floor.
Again checked all boxes.
Every we wanted - walking distance to public transport, dining and shops. Very clean and comfy room, would appreciate a box of tissues tho. Buffet brekkie was good. Would highly recommend.
Very small. Cleaning staff rude.
Staff were so friendly
Rooms are renovated, clean and comfortable
Wonderful stay, very convenient to light rail, theatre, sips and restaurants. Staff fantastic. Decor excellent.
This is a well located hotel and served its purpose. However, it does have a lot of pubs around, which could be noisy, especially on weekends until past midnight. The lobby has a distinct scent of perfume or cleaning agent? that we didn’t quite like.
I've stayed here often. In the middle of the bustling theatre and Chinatown/Thaitown district of Sydney CBD, the location is perfect for those who like nightlife and excellent casual dining.
It's a little oasis amongst this busy area, where your room is quiet and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
For those who like privacy, know that no-one can even enter the building, let alone reach your floor, without either having their room key or requesting entry to the building with the intercom.
The only thing I don't personally like is that it has one of those TV's that is so smart, it can't receive local free-to-air channels, but 100 other channels, of course.
I've stayed here maybe 20 times now. It's my preferred hotel in this area, and may well become yours.
Good location
Wonderful location, particularly if you're seeing a show at The Capitol Theatre. Close to restaurants and Haymarket. Very funky interior design. Loved it!
We stayed at The Capitol Hotel for a one night getaway and it was great. It’s right next to the The Capitol Theatre which was perfect because we were there for a show but it’s also right on the doorstep to China Town so there are heaps of places to eat at. Very short walk to Paddy’s Markets which is also vibrant and a great place to get a bite to eat.
We flew from Melbourne and got the train to the hotel which was also super easy. The hotel is walking distance, about 10-15 minutes easy walk from Central Station.
You can also walk to Central Quay and view the bridge and the opera house. It’s a good walk but easy. Light rail also runs from here too.
The hotel staff are all amazing. Easy to book with and very helpful. The hotel is very clean and modern. The rooms are clean and have everything that you need with tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great.
Highly recommend and will definitely be back again.
I recently stayed at The Capitol Hotel Sydney and was very impressed. The location is unbeatable, right next to the Capitol Theatre and within easy walking distance of Chinatown, Darling Harbour and plenty of great dining options. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished with modern, stylish décor and clever touches that give it a boutique feel. Rooms are compact but very well designed and spotless, with handy tech features like streaming options and in-room tablets.
What really stood out was the service and hospitality – staff were warm, attentive and genuinely helpful, making the stay feel seamless and welcoming.
A couple of small points: some may find the rooms on the smaller side and the in-room dining menu is a little limited, but overall the value for money is excellent.
I’d highly recommend The Capitol Hotel Sydney for anyone visiting the theatre or looking for a clean, modern and friendly base in the heart of the city.
I had a wonderful stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, always ready to answer questions or provide recommendations. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the city with easy access to shops, restaurants, and public transport. Overall, it was a very pleasant and convenient stay, and I would happily return.
Superb stay !! Immaculate and stylish
Breakfast was so convenient and delicious
Wonderful hospitable staff
I’ll definitely be a regular !
The hotel itself was very nice, clean, and comfortably furnished. I elected to stay a Friday night in the cbd as I had a scheduled event early in the morning the next day and didn't wish to travel in from home on the day.
Our room was on the second floor and was unfortunately directly over top of a bar which was blasting its music loudly until at least 1am. This is no fault of the hotel, but it makes it very hard to enjoy your stay and feel fresh for the event the next morning.
Great for dining out and excellent access for travel around the city.
Staff very friendly, great location, clean room, comfortable bed
We cannot recommend this hotel enough. Central location with the light rail so close. The Theatre is right next door. From the time we arrived Thomas and his team greeted us and made our stay enjoyable. The rooms have been done up and to a high standard. Breakfasts have a wide choice of fruit, cereals etc available.
