Beautiful building and lovely room
Breakfast was basic but good.
I wasn’t aware that there were no lifts and we had to carry our bags up a lot of stairs.

Only thing I liked about this place was location and free breakfast
Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not a 4-Star Experience
We stayed at Château Versailles in downtown Montreal for our anniversary, combining it with a work trip, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish.
I had made a note on Booking.com and also called two days in advance to confirm our reservation, request early check-in, and ensure everything was in order since it was a special occasion. Despite this, the room we were promised was not available, and the one we were given was in terrible condition.
It took over 40 minutes for the room to be cleaned, and even after that, it was unacceptable. There was hair on the toilet, stained towels, and the carpets were visibly dirty. Paint was chipping from the walls, the caulking around the sink was separating, and the ceiling above the bathtub was peeling—not what you expect from a hotel marketed as a 4-star boutique.
What made it worse was how poorly our anniversary was acknowledged. We received “amenities” well after we checked in: two chocolates and a San Pellegrino—with no thoughtfulness or presentation. It felt like a last-minute afterthought, not a gesture to celebrate an important milestone.
We also brought our small pup, and honestly, the hotel didn’t feel safe or secure enough to leave him alone for even a few minutes. The overall vibe was off, and we felt more stressed than relaxed during our stay.
While I appreciated the vintage architecture and old charm, the execution fell flat. The room was basic, uninspired, and nowhere near the standard of a 4-star hotel. It was not clean, not welcoming, and not worth the price. We were incredibly let down, especially on what was supposed to be a special trip.
Would not recommend.
The staff, the front desk to the car valet, were pleasant, professional and super helpful.
The room was clean, quiet and had everything we needed for a long weekend.
The car valet price was more than reasonable and convenient.
Complimentary breakfast was very nice and delicious coffee.
We were bummed that no city maps were available, yet it happens!
No elevator, yet again...not a problem for us.
Having lived in Montreal just up the street from this hotel many yrs ago, I am familiar with the neighbourhood. Room rate was decent for a relatively large room with sitting area. Compared to a few other hotels on Sherbrooke (e.g. The Sofitel at Peel St.), this was a bargain. The Nespresso machine in the room was a surprise. Receptionist was very helpful in recommending some local bookstores. Also, the hotel's location is perfect -- near grocery stores and pharmacies, for snacks and other essentials during my 3-n stay. Departure for airport was smooth, as they booked a taxi in advance, and even had a staff member from their partner hotel across the street come over to help carry my bags to the curbside taxi right at the entrance.
The downsides: First, the carpeting in the room was dirty. Stain spots everywhere. Bathroom was clean but small. Second, sound insulation was poor. I stayed during the World Series, and I could hear the folks next door chatting -- not cheering, but normal-level conversations. Bad. Third, the free breakfast had limited choices. Finally, the steps from the street to the hotel entrance are downright risky, watch your step and use the handrail going down!! I'm not sure whether there was a lift inside the hotel, as I only took the stairs to the second floor. Something to consider if one has mobility issues. Overall, there was a tired feeling to the entire hotel, a bit like a time capsule back to the 1980s. But given the price and location, I would recommend this hotel if you can tolerate the caveats described above.
Good location. Friendly, helpful staff. Charming. Decent breakfast.
No elevator
Ottima posizione, grande stanza e buon rapporto prezzo rispetto altri alberghi in zona.
Mancanza di ascensore, e colazione scarsa con sole 3 cose da mangiare.
Great location uniquely positioned on the border of two cool neighbourhood’s as well as residential and commercial areas; available and engaging staff, happy to accommodate a generous request for late check out and swiftly address anything else with the room. Room was very spacious.
Free nighttime street parking nearby, and a 15min parking zone in front for packing/unpacking the car.
Not clean under toilet seat, terrible sound insulation between rooms, surfaces are very rough around the edges, in need of updates and replacements (bath towel frayed, walls dented, paint pealing).
Disjointed communications via Booking.com messaging service; the hotel needs to do a better job ensuring staff follow up with client requests, even if it was someone from another work shift that may have started the conversation.
There was a small and relatively minor water leak from the toilet’s reservoir, quickly addressed by staff.
Clean room
Clean room. Staff friendly.
Friendly and helpful staff. Nice size room with a great shower and big sunny windows. Centrally located. Unique, charming and characteristic hotel that has history you can see in every detail.
Cute boutique hotel!
Older heritage building renovated many years ago to be a hotel.
NO elevators, stairs can be difficult with luggage, especially for seniors.
Breakfast was included but very average almost bland.
