Modest hotel & surprisingly good breakfast
Pros:

Am Marschiertor Hotel opened in 1971 but the building is older. The family managed hotel is located at 200m from Aachen railway station, and offers 55 rooms over 4 floors. It is not a 3-star accommodation, more a 1.5-star ‘Monteurzimmer’ hotel. Complimentary breakfast. Furnishings and decoration provide a clean, yet outdated atmosphere. Tea and coffee in thermos-cans all day at reception. Reception and main-door close at 22h00. Service is adequate. Our modest room had desk & chair, wardrobe & TV, good heating, and a soft single bed. Window can open. We had a renovated separate bathroom with washbasin, toilet & shower. All was clean. A surprisingly good buffet breakfast is served: cold cuts & cheeses, scrambled & boiled eggs, bread & toast, rolls & cookies, cereals & fruits, milk & yoghurt, juices & preserves, tea & coffee. Hotel Am Marschiertor is a value-for-money choice and fine for one night. Recommended.

Zeer gedateerd, slechte bedden, smerig tapijt. Erg teleurstellend. Ontbijt steeds op en zeer beperkt. Echt zijn geld NIET waard!!!

Zentrales Stadthotel mit sehr gutem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis
Pros:

Sehr gute Lage, Gehweite zum Bahnhof und zur Innenstadt, alle öffentlichen Nahverkehrsmöglichkeiten nahe. Gutes Frühstück, nette Mitarbeiter, ZImmer sind sehr gut lärmisoliert

Cons:

Hat natürlich in einigen ZImmern schon einige Jahre auf dem Buckel, Teppichboden

Zou hier zeker niet meer heen gaan!

Vooraf al een flinke discussie: ik had geboekt voor 2 volw+tiener. Wilden ze dat ik voor hem ging bijbetalen… nee dus.

Vergane glorie, oud en sleets. Vreemd personeel. Achterstallig onderhoud: mat bij de voordeur heel smerig, handdoekenstang badkamer hing los omlaag, kiepraam defect, gangen niet gestofzuigd, al het houtwerk beschadigd.

En dan het ontbijt… karig en slecht bijgevuld. Maar 1 soort broodjes, wij kwamen om 9.15 en toen was het meeste al op. Geen roereieren, koude worstjes, helft van het beleg op, koude plakjes spek, geen yoghurt/kwark (werd na 2 x vragen bijgevuld), koffiekannen leeg enz enz.
Ik snap werkelijk niet hoe dit hotel aan een rating van 7,7 komt!
