Location
Very tinny& old room
Never had the breakfast. The English tea was disapointing. I've been to other much better. Bread was dry, cucumbers extremely thin & poor service.
Alot
Trop cher
The bed and pillows were comfortable. Nice location great breakfast in dining room.
Barhroom is terrible! Sink across hall from toilet. Toilet room very small. Toilet low with small seat. Door jammed closed to leave room and we had a hard time getting out.
For the amount of money I paid for two days I thought it should have been updated. Taking the elevator to the 3rd floor and having to then go down the stairs with suitcases was not a delight for me. The hot tub was extremely hot almost burning your body. It also had almost zero pressure from the jets. My television would not shut off, we had to unplug the actual plug for it to turn off, then it wouldn’t turn on. I was very unimpressed by this hotel and will not be staying here again and will definitely NOT recommend it to anyone.
Unnecessary use of plastic
The location was great.
The condition of the bathroom was appalling. It looked like a five year old had painted the bathroom.
Very polite and respectful staff. Clean and well maintained property.
Everything was great
This hotel was typical for what we were expecting. we had a lower room that faced the courtyard. Accommodations were fine, but the price was high for fourth of July. There was a pig roast for the fourth, but it was not clear if it was included. The rooftop bar was open for drinks to view fireworks, but this was ticketed and ended up being cancelled due to thunderstorms.
Pool was cold, hot tub broken, no robe or slippers. Expensive hotel seems to cater to weddings and corporate meetings much more than tourists.
Great location but sections of the hotel are really hot. My room got up to 88 degrees one day… they moved me to a cooler room at 3:00 in the morning. The tv only worked half the time; they did fix it at one point only for it to go out again. May be due to the age of the building? Great staff…building needs work, tho.
Had the worst experience at this hotel. We were greeted with a young gentleman who stared "this place is closing in a month for a full renovation" which didn't make me feel good about what we would be seeing. Upon checking in we were told there was no concierge to help us with planning mansion tours. In the elevator the bellhop stated "this elevator scares me" (great). Our room was nothing great upon entering. However, after closer inspection we noticed black mold in the shower and dust in the open heating system. When we went to bed I tried to call down for extra pillows and blankets. No answer. I had to go down and was told they would "try" to get some. The pull out sofa was awful and had coils popping out. The next morning we explained our situation to the manager. He gave us 25 percent off and let us out of the next night. Then he told us it was his last day. We moved to the Vanderbilt which was almost the same money and had a wonderful time.
The hotel really deserves 3.5 stars but I was happy to round up. After reading some really terrible recent reviews I was close to canceling my reservation. I’m glad I didn’t. The hotel is charming and old fashioned, we found all of the staff friendly and had good sleeps in our comfy bed. Its central location means it’s walkable to almost all of the cites and restaurants. We had lovely messages at the spa and enjoyed morning coffee from the market in the lobby.
Yes, the hotel is old and could use a refresher. My husband couldn’t get hot water in the shower at the spa. Our room shower took a long time to drain. The hot tub by the pool is more of a bath with no jets. We didn’t need the air conditioner but the heating system made some strange noises, nothing to keep us awake though.
Perhaps if I had paid north of $500 a night I would have been upset too but I got a better rate. I came with low expectations and was happily surprised
