Easy accessible, leisure center guests were friendly. The cleaners were friendly, the breakfast was very good.
A nice steam room plus the outside infrastructure is a very nice scenery.
Unfortunately the Jacuzzi was not working on the first day, on the second day it was working, but it was very grainy and sandy.
Plus the room fan was half broken.
Staff and lovely setting
Nice quiet location . Hotel
Is clean. Staff serves our meals were great .
Good breakfast and staff served breakfast was ok.
Reception staff were cold and not very smiley . They just do their job. Some
Rooms were in lowest floor and
Fee like in a storage area .
Location
Shabby furniture even in the expensive rooms.
Swimming pool facilities: jacuzzi, spa were closed. Not many walking opportunities as the place is dedicated mostly to golfers
Setting
Nothing
The spa is very disappointing. We hoped to spend some time enjoying the spa. We were in there a maximum of 15 minutes. On arrival we found that the hot tub and saunas were out of action. Only the steam room and pool were available.
We also had to ask twice for them to fix the TV remote.
All of the drinks in the bars were warm. They were adding ice to wine to cool it down. Beer from the pumps was warm and there was a poor selection of alcohol free drinks.
Staff was friendly, and catered to our needs
My friends and myself like the location the grounds of the hotel. After noon tea fantastic. We really enjoy our self.
Locations
Sauna was closed
Location facilities breakfast and a very comfortable bed
Normally good staff but this time Mia at the reception spoiled the stay as we got out in a room with lots of rubbish on view and not what we asked for but she would not accommodate us at all
Mia on reception was the main problem
Nice setting, good location
Lovely location although a bit scary to drive through an active golf course. Excellent breakfast especially as we were first in so it was piping hot. Good selection of drinks in the bar and the bar meal was very good.
The wi fi in the bedrooms was poor.
The view from the room is not great, looking through the window is to see peeling bacony. There are stains in the chair and room ceiling are cracked and noise coming through the ceiling-room located above. The toilet ceiling is stained and not well maintained.
Crackling noises from room above and stained bathroom ceiling.
Good location, beautiful grounds. Good price.
Basic spa - no sunbeds round pool, and couldn't see how to operate jacuzzi.
With my travel schedule, a good night’s sleep is essential. If I don’t sleep well, it affects my work the next day. That’s why I tend to stay with established brands like Hilton, where you know the standard and what to expect.
This weekend, while working away, I chose the Manor of Groves Hotel based on its photos and reviews. On arrival, everything seemed fine. Check-in was straightforward, although I was asked again for my car registration details, which I had already provided during pre-check-in and booking. It felt unnecessary and slightly disorganised.
The hotel is a converted manor house, so there is no lift, but my room was on the first floor. The room itself was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. However, it was clearly well-used. There were visible stains on the carpet, including what looked like an iron burn and ink marks. Not ideal, but manageable.
One standout feature was the bathroom. A large bathtub is something you rarely find now, and it made a real difference. Being able to properly soak before or after work was a genuine benefit.
Unfortunately, this is where the experience changed.
The hotel hosts functions, and on the night of my stay there was a party directly below my room. Loud music continued until midnight. My colleague, who was staying on the second floor, heard nothing, so this could have been avoided with better room allocation or simply informing guests at check-in.
If a guest is placed directly above a function room, especially one who is travelling for work, it is reasonable to let them know. That did not happen.
On checkout, there was no meaningful interaction. No one asked how my stay was. Three staff members were behind the desk, but there was little engagement. It left me feeling that the customer experience was not a priority.
I always go into a hotel hoping for a good experience. In this case, I left feeling that my stay simply wasn’t considered.
Because of this, I would not stay here again.
The room was clean and comfortable, the dinner in the restaurant and the breakfast were excellent, all staff were helpful and friendly, and pool and jacuzzi were nice.
