The location offered a serene environment and a restful night
I can not fault the staff at this hotel, they were inviting, friendly and helpful. The 3 course meal was pretty decent, starter carrot and coriander soup slightly curry sauce like but was actually quite nice, chicken supreme was delicious I would have again in a heartbeat, sadly the cheese board dessert was rather disappointing, this must have been prepared and keep in fridge all day as crackers were soggy, cheese was hard and tasteless and grapes had wilted a didn't taste good. The bedrooms are very dated and need of a good modernisation. Shower kept changing from cold to boiling hot (which was not a fun experience). The bar area was in the reception and needed a bit of TLC. The hotel overall was very dated, lots of water marks on ceilings and carpets and just needed to be updated. I wouldn't recommend or return to this hotel
We recently stayed at Manor of Groves Hotel and overall found the experience disappointing.
The staff were all very nice, friendly, and professional, which was the highlight of our stay.
Unfortunately, the dinner in the restaurant was not great, especially compared to our visit few years ago, when the food was much better.
The biggest let-down was the ''spa''. We were not informed when booking the hotel or at check-in (or when collecting towels) that only the swimming pool was working. The Steam Room, Sauna, and Jacuzzi were all out of order, and the pool itself had an excessive amount of chemicals, with the water looking almost white. This significantly affected our stay and day plan.
The hotel and rooms are very dated and in urgent need of refurbishment. Damaged carpets throughout, ripped curtains, water-damaged ceilings, broken mirrors, not working tap, etc. were all noticeable.
While the staff were all lovely, the overall stay has a let down.
The location
The room we were given was at the back of the hotel, for the Money that we paid for the 2 nights at the end of January and the room that we got was not great value , we have stayed here before we stayed in a 4 poster with sofa , I was recovering from a knee replacement surgery so it was a supposed to be a relaxing break . The second night there was no hot water in the bath or the shower , we called the reception the manager came up and could only offer to move us to a downgrade room or to use of another bathroom in a room nearby, we chose the other room as we were leaving the following morning.
Good job be brought our robes when we checked out I went to pay my room service bill , I was told by the receptionist we had nothing to pay and the £50 deposit would be refunded .
After 2 weeks we still have not got it .
To pay £376 for a room in January, to have a room with barely any views of the beautiful gardens and a view of the industry bins and broken furniture is bad and not appealing I’m so disappointed
The grounds and it was warm and welcoming
It was almost everything I expected. Unfortunately we couldn’t get any reception on the television and the radiator made a knocking all night.
Stayed here with my partner. It was a delight. Had a great conversation with the Hotel Manager Tyrone - he was really enthusiastic about the please and convinced us to have dinner. Which we did and it was great.
Room was nice but could do with a touch more heating. Lovely place, good service. Well done to Nicola on reception who welcomed us and sorted out the little extra bits my partner wanted.
Beautiful Manor House - My husband treated me to a stay here last night for my birthday & paid extra for gifts in the room. We stayed in the executive superking 4 poster deluxe room and it was absolutely beautiful, on arrival there was petals strewn across the room leading to the bed where there was a bouquet of flowers, a mini slice of carrot cake with grapes as well and a bottle of fizz on ice. Nothing was to much for the staff who went above and beyond. The hot water for the shower wasn't working, which we notified them about but because we already had thee best room they could not move or upgrade so we were given a complimentary breakfast this morning, which was lovely. Yes its dated like stated in the other reviews read but what do you expect for a manor house! I would 100% come back and would highly recommend going forward. Thank you so much to all the staff especially Nicola on reception last night who was so helpful and fulfilling where the water issue was concerned. We stayed in Room: 10 ♡
Swimming pool, dinner, breakfast
Steam room was out of order.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was very spacious
The decor is quite dated and the steam room was out of order
Gym was better than most hotels.Free parking!
Room I booked was nothing like room I got! Hotel room & stairways dated and rundown. Breakfast poor, warm yogurt, they ran out of eggs, not fruit salad left, no fresh fruit, cheap bread.
Nothing
The hotel needs a renovation. Very old bedrooms look tired. Shower didn’t even stay up on the rail. Door key cards didn’t work.
