Lack of lift or at least a luggage dumb waiter.
Great location on the basis that you have researched the area. A very pleasant walk to Camden and other attractions that you will find listed as 'must see' in the area.
The room being one floor down from the ground floor could create a slight sense of being detatched from the world, however lighting and air-conditioning was adaquate compensation for most people.
The staff were friendly and the bed comfortable
The interior if the hotel is very dark and the location, on what must be London’s ugliest square, quite intimidating.
Everything
Nothing
It's a really cool looking hotel and there are snacks out which is really nice. I got a lot of work done just in the communcal area. Facilities were also great.
Could have done with a lift or someone to help with my very heavy suitcase on the narrow steep stairs.
Excellent location for the Kings Cross / Coal Drops Yard area with lots of shops and restaurants, and short walk to nearest underground stations. The building has been redeveloped with plenty of character and quirky decor. Staff very pleasant. Room reasonable size, bed large and comfortable, tea & coffee makers in the room as well as a few complimentary snacks and soft drinks.
Can't comment on any other room, but our Large King was in the basement and as well as being rather dark with very little natural daylight, there was quite a lot of noise from above, especially in the early hours, from footsteps and trolleys etc.. We were only there for one night, but would probably have asked to be moved to one of the upper floors had we been staying for longer.
Location, location, location! The studio was very clean and had all the basics one might need on a short holiday. The complimentary drinks and nibbles were a nice touch. Comfortable living surface.
Upon arrival we were checked in by a member of staff who talked to us like she couldn't be bothered. She was listless and didn't smile at all - not what the British hospitality and customer service are known for!
After the check-in at the hotel's impressive main desk it was rather disappointing to discover the chaotic interior design of our apartment. It featured a random combination of styles and colours, where at least half of the fixtures were old (stains on a chair, chipping cupboard in the kitchenette, a cupboard door that was hard to close, dusty curtains). It didn't make us want to stay at the apartment, not even for a quick breakfast so we ate out all the time throughout the stay and just used the accommodation as a bedroom with rather unusual bathroom and toilet facilities (two cabins resembling telephone booths - it was a bit uncomfortable to have to figure out how not to get undressed in front of our children). Also, what made for a relative discomfort was the lack of hooks for towels - since we used 5 towels, we had to come up with ingenious ways to dry them every day. It would be nice to be able to separate the two sleeping areas somehow - what's the point of fitting each space with a separate TV otherwise? When booking the stay, I was led to believe we'd get a small terrace / outside space too, but that wasn't the case. The pictures featured on Booking.com are also way more attractive than what we got- I wouldn't have paid this amount for such an eyesore (for example, lashy fuschia clashed with "antique" mirror frames just don't work when combined)!
Comfortable room near St Pancras. I liked the hotel bar.
I mistakenly thought there was an elevator. Be prepared to drag your bags up to the fifth floor if that’s where your room happens to be. Not for anyone with mobility issues.
Location, staff, vibe
The dim lighting!!! No lights above the sink made putting on make up impossible.
Fantastic location for travel to/from Kings Cross and St Pancras. Our 1st floor room was very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast selection was excellent and the croissants the best ever. Staff friendly and helpful.
The decor is a bit of a surprise being quite dark and almost intimate. You get to quite like it though.
There was a good selection of pastries, teas and everything I required for breakfast. The shower was amazing, was warm from the start and had a really good flow. The location was perfect for going to a gig at the Scala.
Friendly and charming environment. Clean and comfortable and surprisingly quite in the location
