A real gem of a place that I look forward to staying in with each visit.
Pros:

The Market House is a real find. I need to stay in Reading every two weeks and this place has become my 'go to'. The rooms are really nicely decorated, quite Scandi-style, and very comfortable. The central location is also a real plus. What makes the place, though, are the staff. They're always incredibly friendly, with a real guest-first attitude.

Cons:

As others have mentioned, the noise from the bar can be quite noticeable. But all the other pros outweigh this for me.

Pros:

The rooms were cute and comfortable staff were nice.

Cons:

You could hear the sound of the bar below the music was super loud and although it stopped by around 12 ish I think it was a little off putting. Checking in at the bar was also strange but I understand the concept of it being above the venue.

Lovely room with a beautiful big shower room, loved the bold decoration, lots of little touches like the tiny bottles of fresh you can collect to use for your hot drinks

Cons:

Our only thing that would of been nice would of been some ordinary coffee granules for those who dont drink the pod coffee

Great, central, comfy place
Pros:

We stayed one night, and really enjoyed the room.

Great location for train station and restaurants.

Easy check in.

Elevator/ lift.

Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. And, some beautiful decor eg wallpaper and bathroom floor and tiles

We both slept well: dark, very quiet, comfy bed, duvet, and pillows.

Importantly, the place was WARM😁

Kettle, coffee machine, tea and coffee, and water. Also, a sofa and TV

I would definitely come back and would recommend the place

Cons:

There were no windows you could open. Not possible to ventilate the room or get fresh air. But, it still did not feel stuffy

Perfect spot for a work stay
Pros:

I booked last minute for a work event and was not expecting much given the reasonable price. The room is very cosy, the bed very comfortable. The milk and the free beer were nice touches which were unexpected. The shower was good and the toileries provided were adequate for my needs. The room was quiet and I felt safe as a lone female traveller leading to a great night's sleep.

Great value, friendly staff, and very convenient location but can have street noise.
Pros:

Breakfast box was a bonus I didn't expect - thank you! Everything was clean and comfortable; the room was well-provided with hooks for clothing and lovely large bath towel - plus tea & coffee supplies. I also appreciated small refrigerator to leave food overnight. Staff was very welcoming and accommodating.

Cons:

The convenient downtown location (walkable from train station & Abbey) means there can be street noise which cannot be controlled by The Market House. All was quiet from about 10:30 p.m. when fewer public buses passed - until, unfortunately, a person was very loud outdoors about 5:30 a.m.
