My husband and I traveled from out of state to visit family for Christmas. We booked the weekend of December 4-5 at the Quality inn Port Huron Michigan. U fortunately for us a hockey tournament was in town and every hotel was booked solid but we found a vacancy at this QualityInn. First of all we arrived at 10:30 p.m.m to find a bunch of unsupervised children ages 8 to 10 years old playing hockey in the hallways screaming, laughing, wrestling as children will do. This went on well past midnight and the noise level was deafening. No parents around~ they were all partying together in a separate room. I called the front desk to complain about the noise and chaos and the manager told me there was not much he could do. He had “asked them to quiet down earlier on the evening”. Here’s an idea~ find their parents and enforce a noise curfew policy on them! I was livid. Finally I opened my door and yelled out at them to quiet down so people could sleep. 15 minutes of silence ensued until one of the fathers comes to my door and threatens me for “ yelling at my kid”. I was aghast! How ignorant and inconsiderate can a person be? I should have called the police! And one wonders why children act the way they do these days. It’s the parents fault! The children then proceeded to continue screaming, yelling and playing hockey in the hallways. I took a shower at 5 a.m. after no sleep in which the water was tepid at best, and my husband cancelled our second night there. We had no other avenues available to us since every hotel in the area was booked. After arriving home I contacted corporate whose only option to my appeal for a refund was that they would give us 10,000 membership points as a consolation. I continued to follow up with corporate for a refund and they finally informed me that I would have to deal with the Quality Inn itself for a refund. I contacted the Quality Inn Port Huron, asked to speak with a manager who happened to be the same man that I spoke to the night of the incident and he advised me there was no way they would refund me because he had a full hotel that night with hockey families and there was nothing he could do to quell the chaos. He also advised me that we stayed the night and that he did not charge us for cancelling our second night. I am in disbelief of this treatment! Did he think we would sleep in our car? It was frigid out! This is the kind of customer satisfaction Choice Hotels will offer you if you stay in any of their facilities. DO NOT BOOK A STAY AT QUALITY INN PORT HURON MICHIGAN OR ANY OTHER CHOICE HOTELS!
Front desk worker greeted me immediately upon pulling my car up. Held the door for me. Made great conversation while checking me in. Was very accommodating when initial room did not have a sofa bed and was quick to switch me to one that did along with keeping my hot tub/jacuzzi request in my booking. So was very happy and relieved about that! Jacuzzi was AMAZING!!! No further words needed! Breakfast selection was great! Quick to refill the hot items! Would absolutely come back and stay another night when I visit Michigan again!
Parking lot was a bit icy, large chunks of solid ice caused a very bumpy parking job to occur. But, that was really not a big thing or would not dissuade me in any way to pick another hotel in Port Huron as I am aware, being from Western NY, that winter in Northern states can be extreme.
Rooms and hallways were freezing due to hotel policy to not hear upstairs rooms. No elevator. Coffee out - no one managing the coffee bar. We
