The room smelled of mold and mildew. i did let the staff know but it was very difficult to breath in the room due to the musty mold smell. I also left with lice. I have never had lice before but after a night sleeping in the hotel, I am now having to deal with the ramifications.

The pool was gross, hot tub was broken, hallways were musty smelling, carpet was wet from the pool I almost fell walking from carpet to Tile.
The bathroom had mold around the edge of ledge. Toilet seat moved when you sat down. I was not happy

My husband and I booked a handicap‑accessible king room at EverSpring in Oskaloosa, Iowa for July 31 and August 1 through Booking.com. The total cost was $342.70, and we chose this motel because it advertised accessibility and a pool/hot tub.

Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived.

When we checked in, we were placed in a room that was not handicap accessible. When I went to the lobby, the staff told me the booking “wasn’t looked at closely enough.” They said they had a newly redone accessible room and asked us to wait 20–30 minutes. We agreed — but the room they moved us to was still not truly accessible. The hallway was so narrow a wheelchair could barely fit, and we didn’t even attempt to move the wheelchair around the bed because it clearly wouldn’t fit. The room also had a queen bed instead of the king we paid for, and the only chair was a hard desk chair.

The bathroom was in very poor condition. The tub appeared to be a converted jet tub, but the workmanship was sloppy — putty was uneven and unfinished. A wall vent was literally taped to the wall. Most concerning, there were dark stains around the toilet that looked like dried blood. It was extremely unsettling.

Another major reason we booked this motel was the pool and hot tub. When we arrived, both were drained and closed, with no notice given ahead of time.

Breakfast the next morning was also disappointing. We arrived at 7:45 (breakfast was supposed to run until 9:00), but the food was gone and we had to wait about 10 minutes for them to restock.

My daughter’s family also stayed here. When they arrived, no one was at the desk and she had to call a number to get someone to come up. Even though she booked two nights, they only had her down for one. They also tried to put her family of four in a room with one queen bed, and when she paid for the second night, they didn’t give her a receipt.

When we checked out, again no one was at the desk.

Everything it was disgusting.

There were guests sitting in the lobby when I got to the hotel to check in. They were loud and obnoxious. Those same guests had children running up and down the halls and screaming all morning. They were running outside our windows at night and there were also people sitting in front of the building one of the nights. Our room was 103- we heard everything while they were partying. I wish staff would have set a quiet hour or said something to the parents. I could t even hear the person at the desk when I was trying to check in. I struggled to hear any of what was going on- staff just let it happen.

Also, the door didn’t latch without really pushing on it or pulling it shut hard. We left one of the days and came back and our door wasn’t fully closed. Someone could have entered our room. If you look at the door from the inside of the room it’s crooked. When you leave a room the door is securely slam behind you- all hotels are like this. Our door didn’t do that at all.

Lack of housekeeping, did my own room and towels.
