Courtyard Marriotts have really slipped!! !
Pros:

The staff are very professional and accommodating.

Cons:

An egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with OJ and coffee was $20.00 plus tip! At The Hampton Innon my next night, breakfast was free and room was MUCH nicer and cleaner!!

Our stay was fine- we were there to look at real estate for an upcoming move, and visited family, so we were only onsite
Pros:

Great location- near interstate exit. Close to birkdale village and other restaurants.

Cons:

It definitely needs updated and lacks charm and ambience. The bathroom wallpaper had a big patch (about a foot) that was peeled up near the floor.

There was no breakfast the first morning. We didn’t necessarily want a meal, but some fruit and maybe a pastry would have been nice.

The second morning they had out some brown- spotted bananas and a few small oranges sitting out on a counter. Not in a bowl or basket. I didn’t see if there was anything else.

It’s in such a convenient location that it’s a shame it either hasn’t been profitable enough to update.

Pros:

Hallways had not been vacuumed in weeks. Stains on walls. No breakfast at 7:00 sign read “closed”.

Pros:

Just the facts not my opinion..Room was clean ,beds soft.Hallways needed to be vacuumed .No free breakfast even though it is written on the sight … free breakfast.. my shower was just warm my husbands shower was chilly at night . Next morning his shower was chilly. So fortunately I was able to get my shower elsewhere. I didn’t expect this from Marriot.

Nightmare stay in Lake Norman
Pros:

This property is in total disrepair. I viewed filthy carpet behind the Guest Reservation Desk while checking in. It should have been all the clue I needed to know what was ahead.

I checked in with my reservation and slept on a bed. That was completely worn out from excessive use. It should have been replaced months ago. It was such bad Repair. I slept on it and asked to be moved the next morning with my aching back.

The new room they moved me to a better layout I thought. When it came time to lay down, I pulled back the sheets and noticed that the bed had not been came from the previous customer who stayed there. It was absolutely gross. I will attach pictures.
After complaining to the front desk, a woman came up in about 15 minutes and stripped the bed and putting clean sheets on that should have been the case from the beginning.

I slept on this bed and it was marginally better than the one from the previous night. The paint in the rooms in a horrific state. Glancing around the bathroom alone, one can see that whatever work was done to replace previous carpeting was done with that Scotty workmanship that it looks to be something from A red roof in or something. Not the usual middle of the road experience One would think you would find at a courtyard by Marriott.

Bathroom sink drained very slowly and left you with a pool of water in washing your face. The ice machine on the second floor did not function either. The only thing that function well was the attitude of the staff, which was very cordial and understanding of my complaints. They ought have fresh coffee in their urn, which was appreciated.

I had reservations for Thursday through Sunday night, but left Sunday morning, despite having paid for the room in advance. I simply could not stay at this property another day and lost my money on the Sunday night that I did not stay there.
It was that bad!

I cannot be this property remaining at a courtyard by Marriott much longer.

Rundown and not up to Courtyard standards
Pros:

I stayed here for two nights. My room had been recently ‘renovated’ but I don’t think it was ever finished. It reaked of paint and epoxy. The phone and TV didn’t work and never connected properly after they put the room together. It was missing lightbulbs. Many outlets didn’t work. The wallpaper was still old and filthy. If this room is finished and ‘renovated’ - they should fire the contractor . This place has a weird vibe. Not up to Marriott standards and I’m a Platinum Bonvoy member .

They were doing construction on site, started at 9am. Never was told before booking. Cancelled my reservation, not to mention I called and spoke to someone and when I arrived at the hotel they told me the person I spoke to isn’t affiliated with the hotel. Day 2 I had no water for 30 minutes day 3 my toilet bowl was clogged went downstairs to use the main bathroom downstairs that was out of service because of construction… so I told front desk so he decides to come upstairs and unclogged the toilet. One more thing, my refrigerator in my room wasn’t working the entire stay! They replaced it day 2, day 3 as I’m packing I found a note, stating refrigerator is fixed.

Hotel is Tired and Run Down
Pros:

Just stayed here the week of Jan. 12th. The hotel is very rundown. It's not up to Marriott standards in any way. Carpets and hallways are soiled. Rooms show Very Used/beat up. Bed mattresses are old and roll into the center. Bugs (ants) in my room this week. The front desk person had to go clean and prepare my room this week when I came to check in. They make it look nice in the online pictures but trust me you will be disappointed. Marriott doesn't seem to be doing anything to fix this property. I've stayed here several times the fall of 2025 too only because the hotels in the area are largely depressed.

I was significantly disappoint with my third experience here and will not return.
Pros:

This was my third stay at this hotel, and it will definitely be my last. I don’t know if management has changed, but this hotel has entirely declined in quality. Upon arrival, I found the previous tenants' room service plates next to my door, the hallways had disgusting stains on the walls, mold was growing in my bathroom, and to top it off, I found a large insect in my food from their café. The hotel did refund my meal, but I have never experienced such poor standards in a hotel.

Not impressed with new management
Pros:

Meh....this is the 2nd time we have been at this hotel, and something is off. They are apparently under new management, and as a Titanium member, I am very disappointed. We stayed several nights, and never had our room serviced. They still dont have their liquor license, and the food service just seemed not quite right. It also feels like there is just one guy trying to run the front desk 24×7.
