The service at the hotel is excellent . The footprint of Courtyard Marriotts, both generally and at this particular property, is a problem. Honestly I am a little over the square design with a courtyard in the middle. I get that Marriott can’t exactly tear them down, but… maybe they can? It is a tired floorplan with too much hallway, the carpets are worn down from all the traffic. I was at this hotel for 3 nights, which was a lot of walking up and down the hallways given my hotel room was on the other side of the square from the hotel entrance/reception area. Location is ok – there is a Whole Foods-like grocery and Target across the street, but it is a busy area and you sort of feel you’re taking your life in your hands by crossing the street on foot. Room is in good condition. Tired lighting.
Location, Spirit of hospitality by staff, cleanliness
Old and a little weary. Food for dinner and breakfast was mediocre at best. Bar choices were too limited.
Convenient location, quiet environment, comfortable stay
We went to a wedding when I came back to change clothes my room smelled of pot. I do not smoke and it was only in my room. It was as if someone had men in my room without me being there. I called the manager and reported but nothing was done about it.
Everything except I didn’t have a microwave
Adding a microwave to all rooms
The property was clean. The hotel needed another elevator. It was challenging maneuvering the layout of hotel. Needs renovation to rooms.
Having a balcony was nice. Nice neighborhood.
Toilet would not flush. They needed extra staff for room cleaning and custodial work.
One worker did not seem well physically, he was short of breath and sweating.
Location was perfect and huge clean room
We love the staff! Greg made an amazing espresso martini!
This hotel has absolutely fantastic service. The hotel itself feels a little dated but the staff at the front desk and the restaurant were just so engaging and friendly and obviously wanted to make our stay pleasing. I would definitely stay here again
Clean friendly staff great location
I absolutely love this hotel. My children live in the neighborhood behind it so it is very convenient. They also allow me to bring my kids swimming and to use anything on the property on my behalf even though they are not actual guests.
I also liked this hotel for the easy access outside the glass door, now they have screwed the doors shut to where they only open around 4-6 inches. Honestly that’s one of the main reason I go there. If the doors are going to be screwed shut to where I can’t access my balcony I’m not sure if I will be back. Kinda of a deal breaker!
Thank you
Best so far. Dishwasher was best
Nice place staff are great
A garden style motel with no features beyond what one would expect from
any 3* motel.
Parking was not free, as promised on the Booking website.
It was charged at $7/night.
There was no included breakfast. It could be purchased from
a breakfast bar. And wines/glass in the lobby ring up at fancy
restaurant rates.
No free amenities, such as bottled water, or coffee in the lobby
(for a guest doubtful about the in-room cartridge coffee maker).
All available for room rates pushing $200/night in Birmingham.
I shall give Courtyards a wide berth in the future.
