Courtyard Detroit Southfield

There wasn’t any breakfast even though though the website said there was.

For the most part everything was good

The last time I stayed at this courtyard Marriott was in 2021. It was as I remembered it.. Not what I expected of a Marriott property. Finding that it was a franchise with a darn shame knowing the owners were just in it for the money during the pandemic. The fact the owners did not care about the guests at their property.

It was a last minute decision to stay at this property again. I am a Marriott awards member I took a chance.

The property is fantastic it is clean new furniture new carpet new lighting it was just beautiful! The ladies at the front desk were fantastic very accommodating and the staff was on point. I will stay here again and again.

Upon check in we found the TV had problems. The next morning I asked them to check it. No one checked. The TV was not usable for the 3 nights I was there.
Next they told me at check in that the hotel only cleaned the rooms every other day. At the start of the 3rd day I asked the front desk to be sure my rooms was cleaned and we had fresh towels. Upon arriving back in the room for the 3rd night stay the room was not clean and no new towels. I went to the front desk and ask for the room to be cleaned. They said no one was there to clean the room. I asked for towels and all they had was one bath towel that smelled bad. Terrible hotel and terrible service!!

We visted the bar lounge to watch the tigers game. Literally no options at bar. No mixer options. Not even 7up or any variety of it. Asked for simple shot chilled. Same cup used to serve to different requests making the drink Terrible. Asked to just pay bill because of miss made drinks and told no need, just leave. If u advise a bar restaurant then have a bar restaurant! It was the reason we selected this location. I did not even mind the remodel which was in progress but dang. Have something on hand

• No hot water in shower. Had to keep it running just to get it warm.

• low, dim lighting in room
• water refill in fitness center not working
• more than half of the weights were missing in the fitness center
• the outside light entering the building entrance not working

Terrible check in- said my reservation was cancelled (it was not)… the hallway was a mess, ceiling tiles missing, numbers on doors w/ tape and sharpie, no hot water. & did not care about my disability and put me 2nd floor farthest from elevator.

The hotel is too old, and the cleanliness is poor.

Safe

This property was under renovation and had one poorly working elevator. The room was beyond basic, the door was stuck, the elevator would slip when it arrived to the floor, the sliding doors on the balconies didn't have screens on them and were leaning up against the building. There were large shipping containers in the rear of the building looking very suspicious. Considering this was a Courtyard by Marriott, I expected a different level of cleanliness and comfort. I personally would never stay in this hotel ever again and I think it should be removed from booking sites at least until the renovations are complete and then reassessed. If you need photos, please reach out and I will share. The renovations are being poorly executed also.

The property is currently under construction. Getting into the area where our room was, did not look to good.

The hotel was spooky, under construction, poorly attened at nights and my room was dingy with no hot water the first night.

The furniture in the rooms was absolutely filthy I had to switch my room twice and the third room in the living room area didn’t have furniture it had two banquet chairs in it but at least those where clean

The hotel was under construction and I didn’t know until I saw in the halls on my way to the room. The bistro served me avocado toast dunked in oil and microwaved hard-boiled eggs—I would not recommend the meal. I was the only one in line and there was only one worker, but I still had a long wait. Don’t go there if you’re in a rush but I’m sure they have some other better food options. The room had a weird smell but it was clean and quiet.

Easy access to freeway and shopping.
