It was close to the Mayo clinic, grounds were gorgeous, staff were so friendly, delicious coffee and food
Nothing
Only thing nice I can say is the location is close to the Davis building at the Mayo. It’s literally across the street. That’s the only reason for the two stars.
The place has a not so nice smell. The carpet is gross. The whole place needs a complete gut job. I expected more from the Marriott.
The second night we were put on the 3rd floor in the Care Motel. Let’s just say there is no care at the Care Motel. It’s just a room to stay the night of surgery. The name is miss leading.
Me and my family stayed here for a week and what we seen and heard in that week would shock you. The General Manager needs to be doing investigation on some of his employees. Employees having inappropriate behavior in guest rooms shouldn't be allowed. I literally heard a front desk agent ask another employee what are you doing up here your off. She said you know I have to come and see him when I can. I was blown away, and literally he came up there meet her walked off talking about the conference room we go because there is no cameras and she was like or a guest room that is vacant. I was in shock what goes on at this hotel is like a brothel. Hopefully they will make some changes, because employees engaging in inappropriate activities at there workplace shouldn't be allowed.
The location
The food and the price and amenities compared to the Hilton
I paid booking.com fir my room. When I checked in they charged me 229.00 more on my cash card app I was very upset 😡 im still waiting for my money back in my account. The hotel was very run down an old.
Convenience
Nothing
This hotel was originally built in 1987 was remodeled according to the front desk in 2019 the first floors wallpaper starting to come off the walls. It’s very long the tooth and needs a major remodel and renovation. I would recommend somewhere else. The grounds are pretty, but the hotel itself needs work.
I am a Titanium Bonvoy member, close to Platinum status as I already have 78 days accumulated and over $100k in spend on my Marriott Bonvoy card so far this year. I chose this hotel as I had an appointment as Mayo Clinic early the following morning.
Upon check in, I am usually given the choice of points or breakfast or something from the snack bar and a bottle of water. I was shocked to discover that the options were 500 points or a $10 credit toward purchases. In addition, there was no water offered.
When I asked for some water, I was told that the hotel management had decided to "save plastic" by having urns of "water stations" throughout the property. Paradoxically, the water stations themselves had only plastic cups to use for the water. The room had bottled water--available at $5 a bottle--with plastic cups for drinking it. So did the sink in the bathroom.
I must assume that this is not a corporate location and the owner has decided to save money on water while actually using more plastic in the cups than could possibly be in the water bottles.
I also found the hotel itself to be dated and in need of refurbishment and upgrading. The food was expensive for the quality and I found the cafe at the hospital to be much less expensive and of higher quality. I was also surprised that there was no night light for us, as senior citizens, nor a grab bar in the shower. Such safety issues are not only a hazard for guests but I serious liability risk for the hotel.
I find that these kinds of cut-rate, penurious, money-focused decisions for a Marriott property tarnishes the name of a brand that prides itself on quality at all levels of its associated properties. I assume my experience is echoed in the 3.5 star rating the hotel possesses on various review sites.
I chose this hotel for its proximity to the Mayo Clinic but I would rather drive farther and experience the quality Marriott hotels to which I am accustomed.
Location
Very dated, very shabby and run down
Close to Mayo
$280.00 for a room & have to pay for a bottle of water & cup of coffee. Shame on you
Everyone was so friendly!
When we ordered dinner at the bistro it took a good 30-45 minutes when I got the grilled cheese and mom got the Mediterranean bowl.
Oh and our room had a strange smell but we couldn’t put our finger on why we would describe it as. We were in 111.
The staff were excellent. So helpful and friendly
We had a ground floor room overlooking the car park. There were therefore no windows to open. Only patio doors. I really wanted fresh air as I thought the room smelt pretty awful.
