Great location - close to Solvang and wineries! We also liked walking around the adjacent campground.
Beautiful, clean, tranquil and friendly. We absolutely loved our stay here. Good sized and modern rooms. Well kept pool area and gym. Very friendly staff. Loved the fire pits at night. Right in the heart of Santa Barbara Wine Country. Walking distance to Hitching Post and wine rooms in Buellton. Only a few minutes drive to Solvang and Los Olivos. There’s free coffee and donuts in the lobby every day, which was much appreciated. Overall, you feel welcome and cared for.
Very central, pleasant staff, much better rooms than we expected , pool, gym and free coffee and donuts for breakfast !
Awesome getaway! Would definitely recommend the Sideways Inn to anybody who needs a quick escape from LA or is traveling to Solvang for the first time.
Cute motel, right off the 101, but a treacherous entrance driveway right in the midst of an intersection. Had to drive past, flip a U, and drive through a gas station to enter the property safely. Then when we went out for dinner, had to turn right out of the driveway, cross over the freeway and find a place to make a U turn. Just a heads up.
Regarding the property—it’s dog-friendly, but even the rules say no dogs in the lounge, there were three. Coffee and local donuts in the lobby from 7:30 AM, and even at our afternoon check in hour, the donuts were still yummy. The lobby has s’mores supplied for sale, and there’s a fire pit out by the pool. Nice pool and hot tub. Lounge doesn’t prepare food but has arrangements with a food truck that offers sausages, wings, and fries. (The sandwich one of our group hade was tasty but messy.) But apparently the lounge offers great drinks because a very raucous crowd of about 20 on the patio partied LOUDLY until the midnight. Friday & Saturday nights it’s open until then; the rest of the week it closes at 10.
Downsides of Sideways—the rooms are dark, compounded by one wall painted navy blue. The lighting is also inadequate. If you are traveling on business, don’t plan on working at the desk. The lamp there has a 40 watt bulb, and reading lights are about the same. A/C unit is wall mounted and noisy every time it kicks on.
Bottom line—a cute and popular place to stay that’s close to both Los Olivos and the Santa Ynez wineries and to Solvang if Danish pastries are more your thing.
The fire pits were awesome at night and the onsite bar was great!
What a wonderful charming place.! Nicely and creatively decorated. Close to Solvang. Nice amenities. Great value. Can’t wait to come back.
The bed was just right for our comfort.
The AC was very loud.
Stayed next to Miles and Jack's room lol (We wanted the King bed). Drank wine by the fire pit under the stars and bistro lights... life is good!
Wish I could stay longer :)
