Travelling home from funeral in London, lovely overnight break with comfy bed and breakfast

Stunning
Pros:

We stayed in the old part of the hotel. The room was stunning with beams and wooden floors

Cons:

If I'm being hyper critical the wooden floors did creek. However we did book the old room as we wanted that old style.

Atmospheric inn in Old Amersham
Pros:

very atmospheric old inn, all wonky floors and low beams. Great location in Old Amersham, v convenient for party I was attending and the surrounding area is well worth a stroll. Room was comfortable.

Cons:

as is usual for these old buildings, sound proofing wasn't good - could hear water rushing through pipes when neighbours used their bathroom, and someone snoring nearby. The regular opening and closing of the cleaners' supply cupboard right outside my bedroom door didn't help either as I attempted a bit of a lie in on a Sunday morning.

The buffet fried breakfast wasn't great - maybe just bad timing on my part (arrived 2hrs into the service window) but several components were lukewarm and tasted like they'd been sitting for quite a while.

Pros:

Breakfast was excellent, both in terms of the service provided and the food content. The surroundings were pleasant too.
