Location
The upstairs bathroom
Would prefer English back bacon on the breakfast not American streaky! Too fatty.
Location was good bed comfy. Staff very helpful
Squeaky floorboards very loud. Breakfast OK but bacon streaky not back bacon.
I love historic inns. This one is almost 400 yrs old. The staff was super. Every person that I talked who worked there was friendly and helpful. It is in an excellent location for exploring all the historic center and has easy access to restaurants, cafes, and shops. The stay includes a lovely set of choices for breakfast and cheerful wait staff.
The bed had average comfort but the wooden desk chair even with a sheepskin over it was not very comfortable. There is no elevator, but helpful staff carried my suitcase to the room.
Comfy bed
Room upgraded as quiet
Breakfast waiter lovely
Had email to say something special would be in our room as I notified you that it was our anniversary but nothing there. You shouldn't make such offers if not going to see them through.
Asked for oat milk and was met with very grumpy staff member who clearly thought this was a big ask.
The vegan cooked option at breakfast arrived with a poached egg on top
The age and loving renovation
Paper thin walls in Room 5… could hear discussions in room next door.
The bed was comfortable and the shower powerful
The shower didn't stay hot, the room lacked furniture, the heating was not on and when I tried to call reception, the phone did not work; I used my mobile to call and was told to use the air con for heating. However , that was after getting very cold waiting for the radiator to turn on!! There was only half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. It was ok for one night but not worth the money.
Its a cracking location right in the heart of old Amersham
Rooms in the main building are a bit dated. We previously stayed in the stable block and the room was much classier. Breakfast is not as good as they claim.
The staff
Needs some refurbishing
Great location and beautiful historic building. Breakfast was cooked to order with a great choice. Beautiful contemporary decor.
Our room was on 2 floors which meant going up and down stairs in the middle of the night to use the toilet. Plumbing needed looking at as the shower didn’t drain away quickly enough.
The only positives were the friendly barman and the comfortable bed. That is all I can say which was good
The room was extremely basic, the shower did not work, the breakfast was very badly cooked, the waiter was extremely unfriendly. Wildly overpriced for what is is.
Really liked the location in the heart of the wonderful old Amersham.
The staff were really helpful
We really liked the style and decor of the hotel
