Gorgeous renovated hotel with historical charm and very friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again and hope we get to.
Pros:

It is located in the city center and a short walk from basically everything. The gentleman welcoming guests was extremely friendly, funny, and gave us great background on the town. Enjoyed chatting with him when we came by him day to day. The hotel is gorgeous and plan on definitely staying there again.

Cons:

Nothing, it was superb.

Clean, efficient, comfortable, relaxed and location, location, location, location.
Pros:

Had a great atmosphere with good, efficient but relaxed staff.

Cons:

The taxi company the hotel used was not good. They were 15 mins late for a trip to catch a train. The driver made excuses for his tardiness that were not really acceptable. When I stay here again, I may well elect to use Uber.

I would not use that cab company again!

This was the best hotel we have stayed in during our stay in UK.
Pros:

This is a very attractive property with historical significance. The recent refurbishments have created an atmospheric, welcoming and high class interior. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons:

There was nothing we didn’t like about the property.

Short 3 day stay
Pros:

Well restored historic building with good facilities and great service. Room was comfortable though storage for clothes could be improved. Wardrobe space is very compromised and very little drawer capacity.
Our stay was an anniversary celebration and our friendly reception was appreciated.

Perfect for an overnight stay in Bath.
Pros:

We booked very late (afternoon of stay) so our room was probably not that well located overlooking the car park, however it was a good size for 2 adults and a child on a sofabed, and very comfortable. The bathroom was very small but modern and the shower was excellent and there were lovely toiletries. Hairdryer was excellent for a hotel too! Complimentary drinks in fridge were a nice addition. We did not stay long enough to use the other hotel facilities or restaurant but the whole feel of the hotel was lovely - it was very well maintained and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend and stay again on my next trip to Bath.

Beautiful Hotel in a Great Location
Pros:

We stayed 3 nights in a "Generous" room and loved it. The room was large with a comfy bed, the bathroom was spacious with plenty of room to put cosmetics and toiletries. They stock the room with bottled water and some cookies and there were plenty of coffee and tea options in the room as well.

We enjoyed a facial in the spa that recently opened and that was great, and their breakfast buffet was delicious and offered a wide variety of foods to choose from.

The only complaint we had was there wasn't a dresser/chest of drawers in our room - only.a small closet so we ended up leaving most of our stuff in our suitcases. We struggled a bit with the heating system the first night (not terribly intuitive) but got it figured out for the remainder of our stay.

Francis Hotel Was Nice, But Emberwood Restaurant Staff Were Sulky and Ungracious!
Pros:

We stayed in this establishment during 9-12 April. The hotel has a perfect location at the center of this small touristy town. It has an interesting architectural history. However, even though the indoor temperature was probably 10-12C, our room (in fact, the entire hotel) was not heated. Did the hotel or the town have an energy crisis? The hotel staff, especially at the concierge, were very friendly and helpful, and the housekeepers also did a good job in maintaining our room clean.

But the staff, male and female including a woman called Roxy, at the Emberwood Restaurant were uniformly sulky to the point of discourteous every morning. Whenever we entered, there was no smiley greetings of even a "good morning". They had a totally indifferent attitude as if the guests were a nuisance. The restaurant did not see the need of investing in an auto coffee machine and the restaurant could only offer black coffee (no latte, no cappuccino, no espresso, etc). But the restaurant staff never came around to refill our coffee cups. In short, there was zero service in the restaurant. Not only that, guests had to put up with the staff's sullen faces. The latter obviously had never had a course on what hospitality business means. This kind of ungracious staff are poisons to Bath's tourism industry.

Given this negative experience in the Emberwood Restaurant, I will not recommend this hotel for travelers, lest they want to be greeted with sulky faces at every morning breakfast!

Excellent on all counts.
Pros:

The welcome from the staff was warm and efficient. The decor throughout was top notch. The menu and food quality were the best of any hotel I've been to - and I've been to lots.
