Buffet breakfast variety was very good - assorted options in both cold and hot, and staff happy to poach eggs if desired (otherwise scrambled eggs in buffet). Location excellent , a short 10 -15 minute walk from Bath Spa Central train station, and 5-10 minutes from historical hub, plus opposite to a small public park so very nice outlook. Room large enough for short stay. Bed very comfortable. Staff exceptionally helpful with everything we needed during our stay.
Bathroom had shower / bath combo - so if guest have limited mobility reach over bath may be difficult, with limited storage capacity in bathroom for toiletries . Bedroom has quite limited storage capacity.
Everything. Cleanliness, condition of the whole hotel, design, quality, the quiet room (first floor to the side), the lovely staff, the location. Couldn't be better.
Nothing.
Perfect location for our needs on this trip. Less than 10 minute walk to everything we wanted to do and yet just out of the middle of everything. Really liked it. Room was a perfect size for our family of three, clean and comfortable. Nice beds too, which is often an issue when we stay in a hotel (to many awful memory foam beds, not here!). Front desk and floor staff were always nice. Would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and we'll be looking to stay again on our next visit.
Breakfast was lacking, scrambled eggs were always gross looking and the first morning the service was pretty bad. They seemed like they'd rather be anywhere else. 2nd day was loads better, staff was friendly and helpful, though the eggs were still poor. A breakfast buffet is always a tough one to get right.
Dinner the first night at the Ember restaurant was poor. We spent over two hours (with pudding and/or starters we're never over 90 minutes), did not have a starter, and my son only had a scoop of ice cream for pudding. It wasn't very busy and staff just seemed to disappear for chunks of time. The food wasn't great, and risotto with crab is not the same as risotto with crab foam. The natural flavour that us usually present in wagyu beef was missing from the steak here.
