Terrible Attitude
Pros:

I booked this hotel and arriv4ed 15th Feb around 8pm , I have had issues with noise in this hotel in the past and one fault they have ( in my opinion ) is so many adjoining rooms. When I have stayed in these rooms it has been very noisy , you can hear people on phone , tv ECT .... hard to sleep. So I made a point to make this clear when I booked not to give me a room with adjoining room. So when I checked in I double checked “ no room with adjoining room please “ while I was checking in there was a woman sitting near the reception and had 3 children who were all screaming and banging the tables , I asked the man on reception can you also put me some place quite please away from families with children if poss ( as i needed to sleep ) . He said he would try , booked me in and gave me my key.
I walked to the far side for the hotel and walked into the room , it had an adjoining room !!! I walked back to the man on reception and told him , he said “ yes but there is no one in that room “ I said but what if someone checks in and gets that room ... again he repeated “ there is no one in that room its empty “ .... I said again when if someone checks into that room , he said there is only one person left to check in tonight , i asked what room ? he said the one joined onto yours ........ I was shocked at the attitude. HE TOLD ME THE ROOM WAS EMPTY BUT HE KNEW THERE WAS SOMEONE CHECKING IN LATER TO THIS ROOM BUT DIDINT TELL ME TILL AFTER I KEPT ASKING.
I told him I wanted another room , he gave me the one next door , so i went to the room lay in the bed and above me children screaming and jumping from something onto the floor repeatedly.
I went back to the man on reception and told him , he just smiled so I asked for my invoice “ as I pre booked this room , he also charged me for a days parking “ he just started smirking and typed out my invoice , not once say sorry nothing ...... just smirking.
As a Diamond Elite Member of IHG group you think you would be treated better , I have stayed in this hotel maybe 15 times and every time there is a problem but the location is good for me so I kept trying.
I had to find a new place to stay that night at very short notice ( not an IHG ) and i will never stay at this hotel ever again , I wouldn’t stay there now even if it was offered to me for free !!!

Rooms allocated on a first come first served basis despite pre-booking
Pros:

Booked a room with 2 double beds for a family of 3. Upon arrival the room had been allocated to someone else and there were no connecting rooms left so we had to stay in separate rooms despite having a child and shared luggage. Apparently this is a first come first served hotel and if you don’t pre-pay you are not guaranteed a room. Parking is not free. I was given 2 rooms as a solution on the basis that this was ‘compensation’, no regard to the fact we could not be together as a family and that we would have to go between rooms with clothes and toiletries.

Bad
Pros:

Worst stay in a hotel! The hygiene level of the staff are below par with spreading  their germs around when they have colds instead of staying home. I am now sitting in the hotel with THE FLU caught from the staff contaminating everything and everyone. I am losing money not being able to work, laid up feeling very bad in bed with no help, wasting money having to stay an extra night with my whole plans having to change. Management refuses to rectify the inconvenience and staff continue to come to work with the flu with zero consideration for the guests. I would strongly advise against eating/drinking in The whole Reception, Resturant, Dining area as it needs an industrial clean from the germs flying about. Not a single face mask in sight. Coughing, sneezing and touching peoples cups, glasses, cutlery, plates, food, drinks with their raw hands and passing it on to you without a single care about you. If you want to catch their germs and end up ill then this place is your best bet but i suspect like myself nobody willingly wants to get sick so its best to find a different hotel with basic hygiene standards because this hotel is not it!

Nice hotel, nice staff
Pros:

We were warmly welcomed (helps if you are IHG members!!). We popped into the bar for a drink after settling in after we arrived around 10:30pm, slightly later than planned as yours truly missed the turn off on the roundabout. The night barman was a bit unsure but there was another amber of staff around to save the day.

We didn’t realise that on weekdays breakfasts stop at 9:30 but the lovely Joanna kept it open slightly longer. She suggested the omelette and we were not disappointed. There is a decent breakfast buffet selection and plenty of parking. IHG members get a 50% reduction for parking so it helps to sign up. There is a health and fitness place there you can use. I have a swim in the pool and used the hot tub and steam room. The gym isn’t too big but functional.

The reception staff in the morning were very pleasant and I have the opinion that if needed, they would be able to solve any issues.

If in the area, I will stay again

Hospitality that goes above and beyond
Pros:

As a local charity, we have worked with Holiday Inn Brentwood on many occasions - from hosting our fundraising events, to arranging special celebrations for those in our care. Every event is seamless, with friendly service, fantastic food, warm hospitality, and seamless organisation. Worth special mention, is that the team go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome, valued, and comfortable. We are incredibly grateful for Holiday Inn Brentwood's compassion and generosity - and proud to have them as part of our community.

Great hotel
Pros:

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet giving us a really good night's sleep. It was a shame I didn't have time to use the pool and spa, but hopefully next time.

I cannot recommend the hotel for female lone business travellers
Pros:

OK for business but certain details need reviewing.
EG. There are lots of signs in the car park to say you will get an immediate fine if you don't pay on arrival. However the staff advised I could save money by booking my car in after hotel registration.
If you want to have food from the Marco Pierre White Pizzaria you have to sit in the restaraunt and you cannot order room service.
As a sole female business traveller I don't feel comfortable to sit in a restaurant on my own - so I chose a salad dish and glass of wine from the main bar.
I paid over £25 for a horrible wholefood salad and grilled chicken add on. The salad was cold and tasteless. Weirdly the cold slimy chicken tasted of fish and made me anxious about cross contamination.
I had to carry the tray to my room, with people breathing down my neck in the lift. Not nice and I will not be revisiting.

Very Nice
Pros:

As a regular IHG guest and Gold IHG member it’s always a pleasure to stay at somewhere that is above the grade as we did last night

This Holiday Inn communal areas look bright and fresh and house Marco Pierre White brasserie where I enjoyed chicken liver Pate and blade of beef with a very pleasant sauce and a complements

My room was clean , bright and fresh and enjoyed a comfortable sleep

At reception Hana was engaging and pleasant and showed my colleague Charles the Gym of which he was very complimentary

There is a large carpark

The only reason for not awarding a 5* review was that at dinner I ordered two drinks (Double Captain Morgan’s and Coke ) and was charged two different prices the 2nd being £1 higher

I would recommend some training for your bar staff?

I all other respects highly recommended
