Nice hotel in a good location.
Pros:

Good location in Oxford, near main streets and 8 min walk from the train station. Lifts worked well. A/c worked well, needed as was hot in July. Had basic in room amenities you would expect to find in a hotel. Bed was large and comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't use any other facilities that were offered in the hotel as I had other things planned.

Cons:

My room in particular had a window facing a wall, meaning not much natural light got in. The lights in the room were also dim, making it hard to read anything. The nightly rate did feel a bit high based on what was included.

Beautiful building in a great location
Pros:

Beautiful and historical building with lovely rooms. The breakfast was amazing, and the staff were incredible. It was nice to be close to the Drawing Room and the Alice, which were both great places.

Cons:

Although the quality was good, it was a bit on the pricey side. It was a nice experience, but in the future, I'd probably opt for a less expensive option myself.

A Distinguished Old Lady Mistreated
Pros:

1. The hotel is furnished in a style somewhere between Indonesia and the Indian sub-continent. A British institution has apparently become a world-weary mix of eastern cultures.
2. In the bedrooms the lighting provided is a clear indication that guests are not expected to read. And only one chair in a double room. There is a library, but it was locked when we tried to access it.
3. Our room looked out on to a brick wall 10 yards away. At £600 per night this did not seem like good value.
4. Breakfast was provided in a brasserie-style area. There are staff floating about, but they clearly regard guests as an impediment, not to be made welcome or, God forbid, provided with service.
5. There is a golden opportunity here for a British hotelier to open a hotel in the centre of this city of dreaming spires and consign this mongrel offering to history. Meanwhile, other city centre options are the Old Bank Hotel and the Mercure Eastgate.

Best business event experience!
Pros:

We could not have picked a better hotel for our business event/retreat!
Starting from the amazing hotel interior and exterior, and finishing with the most welcoming and kind staff working there. Working closely with Taryn, who helped us organize the best itinerary, Fernanda, who helped coordinate everything, and, of course, the front desk staff that always welcomed us with a smile and acted quickly if needed.
Still daydreaming about the experience, thank you to all!

Terrible service
Pros:

I stayed at the Randolph Hotel by Hilton in Oxford on 30 June 2026 for one night. Having paid £450 for a single night's stay, I expected exceptional service and a comfortable, high-quality experience. Sadly, this was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've had.

Our experience got off to a terrible start at check-in. The receptionist was cold, unfriendly, and completely unwelcoming. She simply tossed our room key cards onto the desk without offering any information about the hotel. I had to ask every question myself, including breakfast and dinner arrangements, checkout time, parking, and other basic details that should have been explained as part of the check-in process.

We were told our suitcase would be brought to our room immediately, but after waiting 20 minutes we had to call reception to chase it up. The manager eventually delivered it personally, and I took the opportunity to express my disappointment with the service we had received so far.

Before our stay, I had specifically booked an electric vehicle charging space 3–4 days in advance and received confirmation that it had been arranged. On arrival, I reminded both the receptionist and the manager that my car needed charging, and they assured me it would be taken care of that evening. Imagine my frustration when, after checking out and paying an additional £60 for parking, my car was returned without having been charged at all. This meant wasting another hour of my journey searching for a charging point before I could continue home. It was completely unacceptable, especially as this service had been confirmed in advance.

The room itself was another disappointment. It was surprisingly basic for a hotel of this reputation and price, and the mattress was so uncomfortable that it made for a poor night's sleep.

Thankfully, we spent most of our time exploring Oxford and attending a university open day, which meant we weren't in the hotel for long. However, that doesn't excuse the consistently poor service we experienced throughout our stay.

For £450 a night, plus a further £60 for parking, I expected a premium experience. Instead, I received indifferent customer service, poor communication, an uncomfortable room, and a failure to deliver a service that had been promised. I genuinely don't understand how this hotel is associated with Hilton, as it falls far short of the standards I have come to expect from the brand.

This stay was incredibly poor value for money, and I certainly won't be returning. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering staying here looks elsewhere.
