The swimming pool
The rain
The staff were very polite and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the spa was a welcome treat.
Only down side was in the spa it was a bit confusing to navigate a few signs within the spa area would have been handy and eucalyptus in the steam room would have made it a bit more pleasant.
Great location, just minutes walk from everything! Nice Spa.
Initially like a maize trying to locate room.
Location for walking into Stratford.
EV charging on site
Noise on second night from Guests across the corridor, slamming doors and shouting bad language at 4am.
Breakfast menu could do with some more options other than porridge or full English. Why not poached egg on toast or similar.
Comfy bed. Reasonably priced drinks. Nice bar food.
Nothing springs to mind
We received a warm welcome on arrival which was really nice. It looks like the rooms are being refurbished and the one we stayed in was lovely. Large and spacious and had just been newly decorated. The room was also nice, warm and cosy. One of the staff members went above and beyond which was really kind. The location is excellent with just a short walk over the bridge in the centre of Stratford Upon Avon. It was good value for the price I paid. Will stay again.
The location and setting is wonderful. Very beautiful and welcoming entryway. The staff were really friendly and the dinner was lovely.
Our sink was damaged and one of the taps was broken. The dining room had a strange smell and the breakfast was over priced and subpar
Location and pool
Everything though I have yet to try the gym and spa.
Leaving to go home.
Hotel is in good location by the river and a few minutes walking distance into the town. Good large car park around the hotel grounds .
The room was too hot during the night , even after turning off the radiators and turning the air con on the room didn’t cool down.
Amazing room. Lovely staff, great breakfast
We paid for a period room and it was amazing. Didn’t disappoint.
Character and location
Car park ling is a big tight / difficult to get out of
This is the second time I've stayed here at the Macdonald Alveston hotel in Stratford upon Avon and our experience was just as lovely as the first time. Our check in was really welcoming and warm, and the overall friendliness of the staff throughout our stay exceeded our expectations, partiocularly at the breakfast service. Having a 9 month old I booked a family room which had a huge bed as well as the cot set up for us on our request. There was plenty of room for baby to crawl around and for us to relax and unwind after a day of travelling and exploring. We utilised the pool facilities which felt luxurious, and made the most of having a splash around in the water before dinner. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from Stratford upon Avon town centre and the main tourist hotspots, we loved visiting the butterfly house this time round which is just a 5 minute walk away.
There were just a couple of hiccups. We used the baby change facilities by the bar before we could check in and the door lock wasn't working correctly which meant we did get stuck until someone came to our rescue. However, they were extremely apologetic and quickly jumped onto maintenance to get it fixed. Some areas of the room weren't quite so clean as I would appreciate, the bin for example had no liners and you could see previous stains and spills in them showing they hadn't been properly cleaned out for some time. The pillows were also quite flat and uncomfortable, we could have benefitted from some spares in the room. Our guests across from us were a group of young women who made a lot of noise throughout the night running up and down the corridors, shouting and crying, and generally seemed to be causing a nuisance at breakfast demanding food despite having not paid. I will credit the staff for dealing with them in a sensitive and de-escalating manner where possible. This was very unusual though and I would assume this was an unfortunate rare situation we had as part of our stay.
