The location, the fact it has parking(which you have to pay for), staff were very friendly, housekeeping was done daily.
Pool was cold, bed was a little uncomfortable, window didn’t shut in bathroom which made it very cold.

Lovely hotel, great location (walking distance to the old town and Shakespeare related things worth seeing), and the staff were friendly and helpful (they lent us umbrellas because it was raining).
For what we paid for 2 nights I expected the room to be a bit fancier. And the breakfast option was too pricey for us (even pre-ordering breakfast for a 25% saving it still seemed expensive).
Excellent location and lovely property
Nothing, all good
Good
No heating in bathroom
We recently stayed at the Macdonald Alverton Hotel and had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. From even before we arrived, the service was exceptional. Elizabeth at reception was outstanding — she responded to my questions quickly and efficiently before our visit, which made everything feel easy and well organised from the very beginning.
When we arrived, the hotel itself was beautiful and full of character. The restaurant had that lovely, traditional manor-house feel you hope for when visiting somewhere like this — elegant, charming and welcoming. We enjoyed afternoon tea which was simply delicious. The scones were warm and freshly made, and everything was beautifully presented.
To make our stay even more special, the team prepared a complimentary dessert platter with “Happy Birthday” written on it, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch.
Our room was outstanding. It was a king-size deluxe room with a very comfortable bed and a sofa area, along with tea and coffee facilities, an espresso machine, soft towels, slippers and lovely bottled shower gels and toiletries. Everything felt luxurious and carefully prepared. The view from the room overlooked the gardens, which made the whole experience feel peaceful and relaxing.
The spa areas were fabulous and added to the sense of relaxation during our stay. The Romanian barman was also fantastic — incredibly friendly, welcoming and great to chat with.
The location is excellent and everything about our visit was thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel combines beautiful surroundings, excellent facilities and truly wonderful staff who clearly care about making guests feel special.
We had such a beautiful time and would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone. We will definitely be returning! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
