We got upgraded for free to a room with a beautiful view of the cathedral. The room had a large bathroom, living room area and four poster bed. Absolutely stunning!
The facilities and the bedroom
Breakfast too expensive. Hot plate below standard for hot meal. Sausage over cooked. For the price we pay no variety
Location parking good
The reception team were very welcoming and professional.
Our room was upgraded as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary (not necessary, or requested but it was a lovely gesture, which we appreciated).
The room had a lovely view across to the Cathedral.
It was very quiet, even though we were in the centre of Winchester.
When we were leaving the hotel there was a chap (a guest at the hotel?) sat on the steps outside the door smoking. It was very unpleasant having to walk past him. Perhaps the hotel should stipulate a no smoking zone around the entrance.
Very nice. Close to festival. I liked that there was a hair dryer
Nothing rlly
The location, car parking available. Fridge in room and tea/coffee in room. Plenty of towels. Comfortable bed. Price reasonable
The furniture was old, the bathroom was not clean with mould above the shower. The lifts were dirty with litter.
Parking very tight spaces and expensive. It would have been forgivable had it not been for the receptionist. The experience we had was the worst we have had anywhere in the world. We arrived as a married couple. The staff member made it very clear he would not talk to, or make eye contact with a woman.
I noted the same thing happened with the couple that arrived after us. A worse experience than anything we have seen in the Middle East or Asia.
Never again.
The property needs total refurbishment.
Very poor standard.
As above
Établissement vieillot, a besoin d être rafraîchit, lit trop vieux
Pas de climatisation chambre très chaude malgré la fenêtre ouverte
The hotel that looks nothing like the photos biggest catfish of a hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Bed was awful and uncomfortable carpets ripped and raised holes int he ceiling , and dirty bedding , their only positive was the staff who were polite and helpful and when we finally got to leave the next day.

The room was comfortable and spacious with an excellent view of the cathedral, with the added bonus of being able to hear the choir we had come to see warm up!
The fridge was an unexpected but very welcome inclusion.
A fan that was supposed to have been there was not, which would have made a hot night more comfortable - as would an alternative light sheet instead of a warm quilt.
Location is great. A minute’s walk to the Main Street.
Room was dated, hot and the sink was blocked on our arrival.
Location
No air con.
Very expensive for size of room & quality.
Felt tired
Dangerously slippy bathroom floor!!
The best thing about the hotel is that it is very central. Otherwise, it was fine, nothing particularly bad but nothing particularly excellent either. The staff were very friendly.
The standard of decoration was at best average (the rooms) and in some areas (corridors etc) it definitely needed improvement. Despite booking many months ahead of time, we were given rooms that faced out onto the street rather than facing the Cathedral. The problem with street-facing rooms is that the street is where lorry’s load and unload for shops on the (pedestrianised) High Street, which means there’s plenty of noise outside from quite early in the morning (4 am onwards). We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel as it didn’t look particularly appetising.
