Great. Location for visiting Blenheim Palace,On Site Parking at £5 a Night.Staff Very helpful and Friendly.Breakfast was just about acceptable. Our Room was basic Bed was Fine, Bathroom needs attention owing to black mould, and Radiator needs Bleeding as it was making very odd noises throughout our stay This Hotel and it's rooms really need a massive Refurbishment as everything is looking tired and worn out.I would rate this Hotel 3 Stars and that is being very generous
Excellent Location.Good Breakfast.Friendly Staff.Ample parking
Very Noisy Radiator in our Room, badly needs Bleeding.Kept me awake throughout my stay.
Lovely hotel with 700 years of well maintained history.
Typical of the English countryside, especially in such a historic hotel, there was no air conditioning. The staff did its best to keep us cool with fans during the very unusual May heatwave.
Location and cleanliness
Staff continued to serve a v drunk lady both nights which resulted in her shouting calling out and singing until midnight both nights of our stay
The building was great for its history and the location was good.
The rooms need updating and some tlc. There was a buzzing noise all night on our room which staff couldn’t remedy. The only other room they had available wasn’t suitable for our needs. We had to put up with it. Also the room smelled musty. Food not great either.
Staff very friendly and helpful
Stair tread on the main staircase uneven
Breakfast was an extra obviously but was well presented and tasted lovely (the vegan fry up with eggs option)
Put in outside room on the car park so never saw upstairs in the actual hotel
I checked fridge plug and found old soiled tissue behind the fridge on the floor
Bed valance sheet wasnt tucked in properly so had to lift mattress up to do it myself otherwise sheet would have come loose as soon as we laid in bed
Beer pumps in main bar were faulty all weekend so no draught drinks in hotel
Hotel and, room was WOW and quirky, which I loved. Room was spacious but bed and pillows were too soft for my liking. I loved how it was all in keeping with it's age.
The breakfast was OK. The buffet had everything I needed but a bit basic. Also don't come down after 9 as there was nothing left. The full English, every day was over cooked but I eat it lol.
Parking prefect
Location prefect for visit to Beinheim palace as it is in walking distance. Also easy access to Oxford via the bus.
But I loved my stay. Can't wait to come back.
My husband and I stayed in the Bear Hotel this past week and we enjoyed our visit! The room we stayed in was very quaint and cleany kept. The bathroom was remodeled and modern. We never heard our neighbors (in hotel) although we could hear people at the pub across the street until later at night. Wasn't much of a problem though. The hotel is perfectly placed in the middle of the town and it is easy to walk anywhere. Very easy jaunt to an entrance to Blenheim Palace. I will say that I think it is slightly overpriced but I think that is what you get in the Cotswolds.
The location, the room that we stayed in. The card and decoration of the room (it was the first night of our honeymoon) was a really nice touch.
The humming from the heating/air conditioning unit.
Location. Friendly and helpful staff.
Tea was stale. As fridge in room would be nice to have fresh milk and water. Fridge empty. For price point would be good.
This is a historic hotel in a lovely town, but unfortunately it is being run with a skeleton staff. The standard of food is poor and waiting times are unacceptable. We ended up walking out of breakfast after an hour and a half wait for hot food! This hotel has obviously been taken over and the current owners don’t appear to have what it takes to run it to an acceptable standard. I felt sorry for the many American guest staying here as they wouldn’t have a very favourable opinion of British hospitality
How central it was.
We are both in our late seventies and were on the very top floor. It was very difficult to get our luggage up there.
Hotel is in a good location in the village of Woodstock and has its own parking, Staff were extremely friendly on the reception and we were given an upgrade. Evening meal in the restaurant was good and the pricing was reasonable. The room was warm and comfortable with good facilities.
Only downside was one member of staff at breakfast. She was somewhat grumpy.
It was very well located in the village literally 8 mins walk to Blenheim Palace.
It was clean but not what I would call clean enough! The radiators, sink, bath & general feel was that it was in need of an upgrade all over.
The location was excellent and the building was lovely. The staff were very friendly.
There was no air conditioning or fan in the room which meant the rooms were very hot and uncomfortable. No drinking water was provided.
