May have challenges if you have mobility issues
Pros:

I experienced excellent customer service especially the lady in red who gave myself and my friend 2 drinks vouchers each because of a mix up with my room which was quickly sorted. However I had difficulty with accessibility for people with mobility issues. I was fortunate that I had had a shower the morning I went. I had an accessible room but none of the bedrooms have a wet room or a walk in shower. Yes the bath was low enough for it to be stepped into but there was only one handle to hold onto on the wrong side of the bath. You need something to hold onto on the near side as well. If I was staying more than one night I would not have been able to use the washing facilities. Also the other issue I had was all the stairs going up to the breakfast room. If there was an accessible lift like the one at reception that would be better. I actually hurt my back climbing the stairs and that made breakfast miserable for me. I know you said if I sat downstairs, breakfast could be brought down to me but as my friends wanted to sit upstairs it wasn't a good option for me. The majority of the downstairs is taken up with a massive bar area. The breakfast bit should really be on the ground floor. Because of the excellent customer care service I would love to return (if you will have me back) but because of tge issues I encountered I could only give it 3 instead of 4 stars.

Brekky meeting!
Pros:

I had a wonderful brekky up stairs. Cooked just how I like it! Great meeting spaces down stairs where we both enjoyed our drinks I went for a hot chocolate and my mum had a caramel macchiato! Both made just right! Thank you staff and Christina at Holiday Inn.

5* amazing hotel visit
Pros:

Welcomed with such amazing customer service little ones where given a voucher to use at the bar for a free little treat which my children absolutely loved nothing like a cheeky hot choclate and a biscuit treat the gentleman working behind the bar was so professional and his customers service was amazing honestly anything we asked he was able to assist he was helping with breakfast this morning and wow we have stayed in many hotels but this breakfast was one of the best clean inviting and plenty of choice
We stayed in the family room and we was so happy with the size of the room the room was spotless and the beds where comfortable
My children didn’t want to leave and we will definitely be returning thank you for a lovely stay x

Nice hotel with great staff
Pros:

Just spent our 3rd visit to this hotel. Unfortunately it was for only 1 night. The hotel was full but that did not stop all staff being attentive and polite, all were a credit to the hotel. Very helpful check in and breakfast room staff were great. Excellent buffet breakfast, just can you get non-dairy spread please!
Looking forward to staying again

Our home away from home!

I'm writing this review on behalf of my parents who stayed here several days before Christmas and after New Year's while visiting my husband's British family. This was their first visit to England. I cannot praise the managers and staff here enough. From management (like Kristy), to desk staff (like Claire), to housekeeping (especially the head who was exceedingly patient and kind in helping my parents be comfortable... I'm afraid I've forgotten her name), to the maintenance staff, everyone went above and beyond. But I must single out Thayn of the bar staff for extra kudos. Being from Tennessee, my mom has a serious sweet iced tea addiction. Not really a thing in England. So we bought her a pitcher and sweet tea bags so she could make tea in her room. However, there are no ice machines, so we bought her a container for ice and Thayn was super kind to her every time she needed ice. In fact, I think he spoiled her a bit, which was very much appreciated! We always stay here when we can't stay with friends and we always put visitors here who travel with us from the states. This is why. Everyone is friendly, the service is faultless, the restaurant is excellent, the bar is amazing, the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the location is unbeatable, close to the Festival Leisure Park and within walking distance to many dining and entertainment options. Well done, everyone! We would never stay anywhere else in Basildon.

Kids well looked after
Pros:

Family of 6 in 2 rooms for 2 nights. Comfortable rooms although cold in bathrooms (no heating). OK breakfast. Really nice atmosphere at bar in the evening. THAYNE looked after us especially the grandkids aged: 8, 10 and 12. He made them feel special. They loved having VIK passes.

Great Bar Man
Pros:

Had a great stay here after a long drive from Amsterdam due to all flights being cancelled after new year. Was all a bit tired but was cheered up by the Bar man Thayn who was great company and welcoming. Would come back just to see him.

Overnight Stay for Work
Pros:

I stayed here for 1 x night due to working in the local area.

Very easy to find with plentiful parking and my room was of a decent size.

Plenty of places to eat within walking distance if you don’t want to eat in the hotel ad it is on the edge of a leisure complex. I did eat breakfast in the hotel which was really nice (help yourself).

The reason I rated 4 stars is due to the parking, lots of it but managed by an external company and expensive! If I was paying for the stay myself, I would’ve gone somewhere with free parking.

Great staff and location
Pros:

Reception lady Becs very nice and helpfull... food lovely and tasty, staff in general lovely mainly Thayn as he is smiling from the minute you walk to the bar till tou walk out. Great atmosphere . Rooms clean. Good value .

Clean and professional accommodation
Pros:
