Holiday Inn Leeds-Brighouse
Date of stay: 5–6 June 2026
Rooms: 104 and 138
As a loyal IHG guest for over 20 years — historically staying around 70–100 nights per year, and now around 30–40 nights per year post-Covid — I feel I know the brand well.
This stay at Holiday Inn Leeds-Brighouse had many of the qualities I expect from IHG: a warm welcome, clean rooms, good food, and professional service. Unfortunately, the check-out experience was a little underwhelming.
Arrival & Check-In
The hotel was easy to find using the postcode and sat nav, which made for a smooth and stress-free arrival. Parking was also straightforward, with a large car park surrounding the hotel.
Check-in was quick, friendly and welcoming, and the reception team made an excellent first impression. As an IHG Diamond Elite member, I was warmly acknowledged and offered the usual choice of a free breakfast, bonus points or a complimentary drink — a small touch, but always appreciated.
Room & Cleanliness
The rooms were spotlessly clean, well presented and in good condition, fully in line with the standards I would expect from IHG. Fixtures, fittings and linens were fresh and well maintained. Please see the attached photos.
Dining
The evening menu offered the familiar Holiday Inn range, including pizzas, burgers, pies, fries, steak and similar options, with enough variety to suit most tastes. The open-plan bar and dining area created a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
Breakfast offered a good balance of continental and cooked options. Freshly prepared eggs were available at no extra charge, which made for an excellent start to the day.
Check-Out
I had hoped check-out would be as smooth and efficient as usual. However, someone else’s evening meal and drinks had been charged to my account, even though we had used Deliveroo on this occasion.
To be fair, the staff dealt with the issue professionally and courteously, and the bill was corrected quickly. However, I later found that I had not received any loyalty points for the stay, which meant contacting IHG online to get this resolved. It was sorted eventually, but it did take the shine off an otherwise good stay.
Overall
This is a comfortable, clean and well-run hotel, with friendly staff, good food, and the reliable IHG experience I have come to expect. The hotel also has a pool and spa, which is a nice additional benefit.
The only real disappointment was the check-out experience. Overall, it was a solid stay and I would be happy to return, although next time I would certainly double-check the bill before leaving.

Location
Complete lack of room service. As a solo traveller I always choose hotels that provide room service. This Holiday Inn has this mentioned in their advertising. One evening I called from the hotel room phone to order, on and off, for over an hour. I called the front desk, room service, the operator - no one answered. I called the hotel from my mobile phone and I even sent an email (which I have had no response to). I then tried to order breakfast to my room using the card in my room (as advertised outside the hotel restaurant at breakfast) - I put it out in good time, but it had not been picked up in the morning. When I went down to the restaurant there was no one behind the counter on both occasions. One staff member, on my second day, was incredibly helpful at breakfast but that doesn't make up for the inconvenience on both days. Don't advertise something you can't provide.
We enjoyed our stay and the Breakfast was excellent
Non I could think of
What a welcoming place we stayed there very last minute and the staff behind the desk sorted us out Megan and Harvey were so helpful in such a stressful time. They practically stopped us staying out all night and they sorted it at the very last notice
Excellent
Provide a lift.
Value for money
Warm
I'm a fan of IHG hotels, predominantly Holiday Inns - more often that not good value for money, with a reasonable stay! I like their point reward scheme which I then use to book rooms for holidays. Iv'e enjoyed Diamond Elite membership with the IHG group for a few years now.
Stayed at the HI Brighouse this week, the main positive the Air con worked and very close to the M62. Which for a very tired HI was good news. Reception was ok, booked in quickly although the other receptionist never took his eyes of the game he was playing on his phone.
I had booked a bedroom suite, very quiet at the end of a long corridor, the room was clean but extremely tired and needed some attention and clearly over priced. The room was sold with a stocked mini bar, normally some soft drinks and snacks, but the fridge was empty? When I questioned this this I was told House Keeping 'had run out'? No real apology or any form of compensation offered? On check out they were un able to give me a paper copy invoice as the new system wasn't working? That said a email copy did arrive shortly after leaving. Can't comment on the food here as I didn't eat at this hotel.
Basically I would look for alternatives if possible and avoid this HI in future, unless they are offering a really good rate.
Location, size of room and AC.
The shower in our double room was poor, but did the job.
I love how friendly all staff was. You welcomed both children and dogs, which I loved. I loved the children interaction area at the front which my 6yr old enjoyed at every opportunity.. Your hotel was like a home from home from home. We loved the AC in the bedrooms which was great for the heatwave were currently having. Honestly its a hotel I would come back to.
I used the pool, which the children loved. The family changing room was a bit unloved. Because I had my 10yr old son and 6 old daughter we had to use the family changing room, which isn't really suitable for a family of 3. It was more a changing room for baby's.
It was a lovely hotel. Decor was lovely, staff very friendly and the breakfast choice was excellent!
No lift and I have a bad back currently. Also the car park is down quite a few steps which isn’t great if you struggle with them and don’t have a blue badge. It’s quite eerie at night if you can’t park close to the entrance.
Friendly staff, clean room, late bar
The location
The clean comfortable ample bedroom. The breakfast
ALL staff that I spoke with were all most friendly and helpful. Never stayed at Holiday Inn before, this was a first but certainly won't be the last. Happy happy happy
