Misleading Amenities & Outdated Rooms – A Total Letdown

I was deeply disappointed with my recent family stay at the Ramada by Wyndham Niagara Falls/Fallsview. We booked this specifically for the indoor pool to escape the cold weather, only to be told at check-in that it was closed for renovations.

Key Issues:

Deceptive Booking: I booked a non-refundable rate based on advertised amenities. The hotel failed to disclose the pool closure during the reservation process, leaving us—and many other shocked families at the front desk—with no recourse.

Zero Entertainment: With the pool closed, we hoped to relax in the room, but the TV was ancient. The hardware was so outdated that the HDMI ports didn't even work, making it impossible to use our own devices for movies or games.

Poor Value: Between the construction and the obsolete in-room tech, there was absolutely zero entertainment for a family.

This hotel is happy to take your money upfront with non-refundable stays but fails to provide the basic services and facilities they advertise. Avoid this property until they actually finish their renovations and update their rooms.

No news the pool was being renovated
Pros:

Travelled only under an hour, to stay for the pool and enjoy a soak with a friend. Upon arrival reception told me the pool was closed for renovation. This was the reason my friend and I went there. The receptionist said she would cancel my reservation with no charge. We did request to stay at a different location with pool (and even pay more perhaps) but the reception said ahe was unable to do that kind of transaction, or even check other properties.
Please do not process any charges. Returned home.

Cons:

If the hotel receptionist could have made an effort to check availability to find a sister property with a functioning pool for the night for us, that would have been great.

Disappointing
Pros:

The room had a balcony which was a surprise.
Jacuzzi worked great!
Room was nice and clean.

Cons:

The pool was closed for renovations. I wouldn't of booked had I known.
Car-Hoppers checking vehicles if they're unlocked to steal your stuff.
There was a domestic assault at 2am.
Children were screaming.
Than the fire alarm was pulled by a woman in her bra and underwear and I had to leave my room to stand out in the cold for the fire department to say we could go back in. Plus police and firemen were there for hours afterwards.

Hotel refused any compensation for this major inconvenience!!

Pros:

View from the top floor.

Cons:

There’s renovation on the property no notice of anything. Only 1 staff member to handle everything. Tried calling helpdesk for things no answer. Parking was $25 plus taxes but taxes included some other charges $35 in total. Very cheap tactics to get more money in.

Not the nicest, I planned on this hotel for the pool and other activities but all were unavailable … room service over 1hr … the window was broken letting moisture in and the windows ledge was dripping … bathroom no not clean stuff on walls ( looks like blood ) spa tub not well maintained over all I would give this hotel a 3 out 10

Good service despite the construction.
Pros:

The long overdue renovation to the flooring from the ragged carpeting to the new white tile in the lobby and pool area. Staff informed me that the carpeting was to be replaced throughout the hotel floor by floor in the coming months. The flooring in the adjacent IHOP restaurant has been replaced with light grey snap planking. Looks much better.

Cons:

Booking.com did not mention that the hotel was under renovation. The lobby area was being remodelled with new tile flooring that made it difficult to walk across to the reception desk. The main reception counter has been removed and the IHOP guest counter is being used instead. Construction dust is abundant on the main floor and the pool is closed at present.
