Great location. The staff were incredible. Facilities were great. Minor drawbacks include the small room (but overly large bathroom, which wasn’t an issue!), renting an adapter will set you back a 50CHF deposit & the room didn’t have a main light, just a collection of lamps
Great hotel and great staff. I recommend.
Perfect location, very friendly personnel, clean beautiful room, free extra facilities
Plus points:
Location is perfect for the train station, particularly if you want to explore further afield and have quick easy transport to the airport which is about 10 minutes away. It's also a short walk away from the lake, shopping areas and there is a bus / tram stop outside the hotel that will get you half way to old town if you don't fancy walking, but to be honest we liked using the lake ferry to get to old town.
There is a Lidl next door too should you need anything.
The hotel is very well presented; everything is clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere is relaxed and fairly sophisticated.
We had room 607. It is well decorated, the beds were very comfortable, lots of storage. Nice to have a few good sized mirrors. My husband liked the coffee machine. I liked the black out curtains.
This room does have the railway line right behind it, the latest I heard a train was 10.30pm but to be honest, I didn't mind the sound, but it's something to consider when booking if you want a quieter room.
Neutral points:
Hair dryer is one that you have to hold down button to use - this annoys me wherever I go but it is hotel choice and I could carry my own to avoid this.
The shower head is in a weird place, it's on the wall facing the bathroom door rather than on the end wall looking down the length of the bath. I had to half stand on the curve of the bath and face the shower screen to ensure I didn't flood the bathroom!
I am not a coffee drinker so would have liked more tea options in the room.
No USB sockets. With most gadgets nowadays you can charge by USB, would be nice to see more hotels in general have USB sockets, particularly next to the beds.
If we come to Geneva again we would 100% stay here again.
Very nice accommodations with a fantastic location.
Couldn't ask for a better location! Easy 3 minute walk from train station with luggage! Plenty of dining and shopping options within walking distance including Old Town, trams and buses. Our room was very clean as well as the lobby and lovely bar. What made our stay exceptional was the staff! Everyone was very pleasant and helpful - a 5+ Stars to Penelope and Inna who worked the front desk. From the moment we arrived these ladies were EXTREMELY helpful in ensuring all our needs were met including assisting us with planning our days. I can't say enough about their suggestions and knowledge when helping us plan our day trips! From where to go - best transportation to use (bus vs train) - to where to SHOP! We would 100% stay here again on our next trip to Geneva!
The location was wonderful, the hotel was too hot and you could not adjust the heat. The food was good the first night and not great the second. Breakfast was not great.
Close to the train station so it was easy to get to the airport.
I am a loyal costumer for Hotel Royal for the last 18 years, every time I am in Geneva, if they have available occupancy, I stay with them. Great breakfast options, restaurant for dining and comfortable rooms. Not to mention super friendly staff. Above all, the most important to me, it is 5 minutes walk from the train station which is also 5 minutes train ride to the airport.
Perfect location, easy to get about. Hotel was spotlessly clean and comfortable, staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Particularly Dimitris on reception area, nothing too much trouble. Also, the young person who looked after the bar and bistro area was very helpful
Fab location c. 5 minutes from the train station and close to the bus station too. Shops and restaurants within short walking distance, along with some bars.
The hotel had a nice vibe, the staff were couteous and helpful, and the foyer was clean, tidy and welcoming.
The room was spacious, but the bathroom could have done with some tile grout cleaning. Decent toiletry amenities provided, with a hairdryer and safe. The pillows were not great for me and too bulky. I made do without. We didnt the the spa/sauna. Breakfast provided a good offering and takeaway coffee cups if needed. I would stay there again due to pleasant and helpful staff and the location. I didnt realise about the city tax but otherwise good value.
Great hotel, near the Geneva central station. Clean and comfortable room. Good fitness center with a few machines (treadmill included), a sauna and a steam room. Good breakfast.
Location is perfect, rooms are clean and are perfectly equipped for a business stay. One small problem/issue - the fitness centre opens at 7:30, which is very late in my opinion, usually you need to be at the meeting by 9:00, and the 7:30 opening time for the fitness centre makes no sense.
The service at this hotel is outstanding, especially the front desk and reservation staff, who were very helpful and professional.”
We stayed for two days to get an overview of Geneva. Hotel is centrally located and right on the tram line plus three mins from the central train station. Rooms are big and clean. Main attraction is the location as it’s within two klicks of the main tourist attractions.
Really disappointing experience given the £€ of this hotel. Had to relocate rooms after a long day travel and wake young kids up as toilet was not working. The hotel’s response was to upgrade our room after we had to wake kids and repack and feel that is a good enough attempt - we were there for one night and only wanted to sleep and paid premium for what should be working facilities. The hotel director has not tried to reach out and they blamed booking.com process, you have my email address.
We were supposed to stay at sister hotel nearby, but on arrival found it closed for rénovations with a note saying booking had been transferred to Hôtel Royal.
Staff were very friendly and soon had us settled in our room. It was very nice, tea and coffee making facilities, very comfortable and quiet.
There was a good selection at the buffet breakfast, plenty of tables, but fairly quiet when we were there.
Close to main train station, which is a 6 minute journey from airport, so ideal for transport and tram lines, visitors to city are given a Genève transport card valid for public transport in city. Also short walk to Lakeside and main sights of city.
Enjoyed our short stay and wouldnt hesitate to return.
Pleasantly surprised on the hotel experience, nice location and cozy room and friendly staff.
Great location! Restaurants and shops close by and only a 5 min walk to the train station. Hotel is beautiful. The staff were friendly and the check in and out process was easy. We were able to store our bags after check out so we can tour until we needed to go to the airport. They were tagged and stored safely. The room we had was an executive suite. It was beautiful and specious…..large bathroom? Very clean. They provided extras in the bathroom and tea and coffee facilities as well. We had dinner at the hotel. It was nice but expensive. As it wasn’t walled in, we could see everyone walking by in the lobby. Kids were banging on the piano which was annoying but otherwise, fabulous experience at Hotel Royal!
Hotel check in was seamless, arrived early, stored luggage and explored city.
Pros: trams, trains busses all on the door step, lidl next door and places to eat available.
Its located out of old town so a short walk to the lake, plenty of options to get to old town from there.
Clean hotel with a calm feel, cosy evening spaces in the bars, and reception areas.
Sauna and steam relaxing, small but i had the place to myself so was great.
Cons; the room was incredibly dark, lots of lights in and around the room but on a winters evening it lacked actual ight.
No kettle just a coffee machine, coffee not topped up - top up available if requested on collection from reception
Definatelty no sound bariers - can hear trains and everyone walking past the room
Overall room was cosy and executive room with a family of 4 felt tight as the sofa bed opens out in front of the bed so movement around the room becomes cramp. Id say junior suite if you have older kids...although the main bed was huge!
It was short good stay, it was quite busy due to holiday season, so we have to wait until the check in time, but all was good, great location, and clean room.
