Great location. Great building decoration. Generous breakfast included. Generous coffee station in room. Slippers given. Great value.
The room was freezing. Radiator didn't do much. We both struggled to sleep due to the cold. Wouldn't let us check about 30 mins before 3pm.
Very tired hotel. Coffee machines and lift not working. Paid privilege room got classic
Lovely staff and great location
It was all good
Great location, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
Long and quirky corridor to get to the room.
Nice decor downstairs. Helpful staff
Expensive parking, not clear on booking that this would be extra

Hotellet var slidt.
Blandt andet var der hul i gulvet under tæppet på værelser.
Overall, the experience was exceptional. The staff were incredibly welcoming and very helpful.

little touches made it extra special
After a long drive, getting used to new driving conditions and finding parking challenging when we got to Brighton, we decided to spoil ourselves by staying at a grand hotel on the waterfront, and we'd noticed the Mercure as we were driving around struggling for parking. It was well worth splurging a little more than we'd budgeted for. A beautiful, historical building located on the waterfront and promenade, with views of the sea, historic rotunda, and remains of the West Brighton Pier. Our room 266 was very spacious (no view but that didn't matter), room to spread out, good size bathroom, all the amenities we needed and very comfortable for 2 nights. Parking was very tight but at least it had onsite parking. The foyer was very elegant and old world - a lovely place to sit and hang out, as was the bar area with couches overlooking the waterfront. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the 2 guys very friendly and accommodating - tables had a view of the promenade and sea. The location was perfect for walking to the Brighton Palace Pier, The Lanes, Bright i360 and the Royal Pavilion (a moderate walk but enjoyable). A few blocks up from the hotel toward the CBD there were lots of restaurants in Preston St - Siam Siam Thai delicious, Magic Wok (very cheap and tasty Chinese take away dishes) and a Sainsbury supermarket at the end of the road (cheap meal deals 4.95 pounds for sandwiches, snack and drink).
Just be aware that the rooms on the top floor have some steep stairs - we found this in most historical buildings. However, we asked one of the staff members to help and he carried our suitcase up for us. Coming down was slightly easier. There is a lift from the foyer but not right up to the room we stayed in.
We liked the location.
The price of the car parking. £28 a day is very expensive, especially when you are staying in the hotel.
The breakfast was fairly good Brighton except the bacon was hard and the mushrooms cold..
On the sea front
Old
Perfect location for us as not too close to the many pubs and clubs.
Breakfast can be a bit chaotic at times as the restaurant is quite small but quality of breakfast was excellent
I had a fantastic time here! We all had an absolute ball all weekend.
A massive shout-out to Lola and May in the bar—they were brilliant. Their friendliness and willingness to help made such a difference, and we had a good laugh with them; nothing was too much bother at all.
The rooms were very comfortable, and there was a great selection for breakfast with loads to choose from. The location was also perfect and very central to the conference centre. Highly recommend!
