The room was clean and comfortable.
We were awakened a little before 7:00 to the fire alarm. We evacuated to the carport outside the hotel. It was pouring rain. The fire department arrived. We did not smell or see smoke. No one spoke to the hotel guests to inform us what was going on. My husband overheard hotel staff and firefighters talking about carbon monoxide. After about 15 minutes, the hotel guests went back into the hotel. No one told us what to do, so went returned to our room, packed up, and left. This experience completely ruined our stay. Not only did we have to evacuate, but we were not informed about the situation at all. It was very unprofessional.
Location
Rooms need to be updated
location. relatively inexpensive. bathroom was clean. shower was good.
terrible smell, temperature in room, told the cooling was not on for building. but even so, the ventilation throughout the hotel was not good. hallways, rooms had a musty smell. i understand that this is a value hotel.
It's an older building so it's got some older building quirks. Cracked tiles, squeaky doors, creaky bed frames, lights that flicker sometimes. Certain bathroom stalls chronically out of service, etc. Some people complain about the more 'retro' feel and the orange, but orange happens to be my favorite color and I enjoy seeing orange everywhere!!
But it's clean and comfortable, and the staff are absolutely amazing and accommodating. As an autistic with physical disabilities as well, the staff always make me feel welcome. After attending several Cons hosted there, many of them are familiar faces and I honestly can't praise them enough.
Steve is everywhere somehow at once, stepping in anywhere it's needed at a moment's notice - and he remembers things like your name and your coffee addiction, or that you need a specific chair to sit without pain!
Karen makes the most fabulous drinks ever, and if you give her freedom to be creative, she'll tailor something brilliant to your tastes. She might even add something special like edible glitter if it makes your day!
Stephanie at the Front Desk is ready with a smile and advice even on the late nights or sleepy early mornings. She can make you feel human and at home, and she's good at problem solving!
Marc is a familiar face in Salt, and nothing says "home" like showing up for a Con and he's got my hot cocoa to make cafe mocha!! He was also really kind in helping carry a drink for me when I worried I would spill it while walking with a cane.
Thomas was a newer face to me but he booked it around Salt with absolute cheerfulness - the kind of light cheeriness that everyone needs after a late night!
Last but certainly not least, Cara may not have been one of the front facing staff, but that lady works *hard*, and with determined optimism I truly admire.
(I really really hope I've spelled everyone's names correctly!! You're all such lovely people!)
There was a brown stain in the toilet bowl
Wonderful staff . I was visiting because my husband was in the hospital . Everyone made sure I was taken care of . Steve Thompson made sure I had everything I needed . I am very grateful .
Centrally located, Staff was friendly.
The room was old and run down. It was very drafty. Worse there was no hot water even for a shower.
Be advised. They only offer shuttle service at certain times and days. Restaurant is closed certain days of the week. Room was small but adequate. Poor value for the money. If possible I recommend staying elsewhere.
The only two best things about this place were location, and the staff up front. Everything else was just sad.
No good view (I stayed in two different rooms and got once a wall view, and the other time a wall, parking garage view). Window is basically useless. The hallways were dirty and ceiling panels were gone or falling off with stains on the ceilings. Also it said something about a fitness center being there, but when I asked they had 'closed it'. No notice and no refund for this. Very sad about that.
Location and free parking, close to Syracuse University. The staff were very nice, too.
Views outside my room were really bad and the general way the property was kept were not very nice. Ceiling tiles missing and many water spots, floors dirty in the hallways, too. Fitness center advertised ut not available.
