One of the front desk ladies were nice.
It was dirty with trash overflowing the cans by the elevators daily. Their pool never works. I stayed there 2 times in 3 years and both times the pool didn’t work but they don’t put that on the site, I stayed for 5 days and had to call to get my room cleaned on the 4th day and they still didn’t show up.
The night lady gave us a better room for the last night.
But the first rooms, bathroom door was falling apart and the floor trim was tore up.
I won’t go back unless it’s free.
Breakfast was pretty good. The area was clean and well attended. No complaints there
The bathroom light randomly goes off and on. The electrical outlet by the vanity didn’t work. There was some mold around the living room a/c vent. The a/c had been replaced and worked well but the installation was poorly done and had gaping areas around the unit. Overall not what I expected from a Homewood facility.
It was a good location to stores and my son's school.
The thermostat only went to 65 and I'm menopausal so it was a little warm to me.
It was close to LSU
What can improve? Absolutely everything. When I booked this hotel over a month ago, it was specifically, and I do mean specifically, because of the pool. I even paid the premium rate compared to other hotels without pools. Upon arrival, the front desk cheerfully informed me the pool was "not available." Apparently, "pool" is just decorative and a claimed amenity that does not exists. Just the beginning yo!
My room featured two phones that were purely decorative, because who needs working phones when you can dial the front desk on your cell phone? Listen to their whole marketing spill about how satisfaction is guaranteed 6 times before they answer. Go ahead (225) 927-1700 listen for yourself! The ironing board, meanwhile, had no cover, which is perfect if you enjoy ironing on the surface of exposed metal springs.
The other amenities that dont exsist? Lets talk about those. TVs. Two of them. One remote. The intent of having two TVs seems to evaporate when you have to play "pass the remote" every time someone wants to change the channel. Shampoo was "claimed" to be provided but was as real as the available pool. I had to ask housekeeping to bring some. And speaking of housekeeping. I stopped by the front desk Saturday morning and politely requested cleaning services, shampoo, and fresh towels. I returned hot and sweaty after a full day of touring LSU at 4 p.m. to find, absolutely nothing. My room untouched. It took a second phone call (on my cell phone) and several more hours before anyone showed up. Save your money. Book a hotel without a pool. At least you won't feel fooled by the amenities.
The separate bedrooms
The floor turned our feet black, fast.
Let me first say that the front desk associates were really nice. Unfortunately the hotel was the worse stay. Our rooms were on the third floor and as soon as we stepped off the elevator there was this atrocious smell. It was like sewage and trash. The rooms are old and outdated. The carpet needs replacing and I was afraid something was going to crawl out the couch. The air would not cool so we had to have the ceiling fan on. This stay was NOT worth the $125 we paid per night per room.
I don’t even know where to start. The hallway carpet was soaked, the toilet was leaking, the bathroom door was hanging on by a thread, and the worst of all the tub when we ran water for a bath was completely black! Not even joking. Horrible, will never stay again and if we weren’t so tired from the trip we had taken we would have left immediately.
I have been a lifetime Diamond HHonors member for about 15 years and have stayed at 100's of Hilton properties. To say the maintenance/upkeep here was lacking was an understatement. Let me say that the staff were very professional and I got to check in early. The A/C was great in the first room, 2nd room, not so much.
However, the first night I could not stop the icemaker and had to empty it that night and the next morning. Going to bed, I found the bug pictured below under my pillow. When I came back from breakfast the first morning, the ceiling was rapidly dripping. I tried to call downstairs using the room phone, but neither worked. When I stopped on my way out to work, I was told that none of the phones in the hotel worked, the phone people were supposedly coming....
I had to be at work before the maintenance person would arrive, so I stated that I wanted to change rooms when I returned from work that evening. I got back just after 6 and changed rooms. I also notified the front desk that the icemaker could not be turned off.
2nd room. Moved over, wanted ice for a drink, icemaker does not work. Notice other poorly maintained items in pictures below including when plugging in hair dryer in bathroom the plug fell right back out. Could not hold it in while drying so taped it. second morning had lizard in bathroom.
Homewood suites
Stayed 7/18 with my family passing through Baton Rouge. I can’t believe how disgusted I am with Hilton for the presentation and experience. Unbelievable. I’ve been a patron for many years now, even have the credit card. I am still beside myself with disgust. This place was awful…
Hilton app said they’d give us a mobile key the entire day before, then it said arriving soon after check in and we still waited in line for a key. They only gave our party one key, wouldn’t give more. Digital key never came, just wasted my time checking for it.
Pool closed
Fitness center closed
Dust bunnies hanging from ceiling
3 towels provided for a three bedroom suite reserved for six people
No ice machine
Burn holes in carpet
Phone inoperative in room
No one answering front desk call from cell phone
Long black hairs on bed and toilet, hairs around sink area
Elevator and hallways warm and moist.
Tv in bedroom is shattered with lines all down from the top vertically on screen
Remote control missing battery cover, they fall out on floor
No luggage racks or anyplace to set luggage other than beds or floor
Hilton app chat was unhelpful after trying a few times for 10mins-and didn’t spend the entire stay trying to wait on the phone with 800 #s…there was clearly nothing that could be made better at that location without having changed plans in advance or moving to stay at another location.
What a disappointment for a Hilton property. To start my digital key was not provided and I had to have it manually sent but it was suggested to have a card as well. After not being able to get back inside from a side door, I understood why you needed a charge yet at other properties that is not a problem. So make sure you get a card! The hotel is in need of a major update. The hallway (3rd floor) is long with no ac and looks like something out of a horror movie. The rooms, although comfortable and clean had broken down and spotted furniture, ice that was orange tinted and a ceiling fan from 1980. I have stayed at many Hilton properties as a member and I won't be staying at this one again.
Customer service, soft queen beds.
Pillows were flat, sofa bed-wires coming through and breakfast was limited.
Easy to find, good for a pit stop.
Lack of communication. I tried to message beforehand and got a standard auto response which still stated that face masks were required due to COVID. Reception staff to greet us on Friday night were not friendly. Not even a welcome in or a smile. Didn’t ask for ID or credit card. We booked a 2 bedroom suite which states in the description that it contains a king bedroom AND a double queen bedroom AND a living room with sofa - what we got was a single bedroom suite (which is less money to book but I was charged the higher price) with 2 queens and a sofa bed (which wasn’t made up for us either and then when we found the bedding it literally had a disintegrating rubber textured blanket as the bed covering). The walls and floors were dirty (so bad that I took photos because I didn’t think anyone would believe me). The breakfast has nothing for kids - no pancakes or waffles, not even bacon. For a place that is pet friendly there are no pet ammenities either. Not impressed, I feel I was overcharged and everything was under delivered.
Overall our stay was disappointing although we enjoyed our time in Baton Rouge. We were happy with the size of our suite, we were scheduled to come with 5 family members and ended with six. This was fine as our room stated it could accommodate 8. We had one king bed, two double beds and two full bathrooms which was great with six people. However that is the extent of what was positive about our stay. The room was supposed to have a sofa and a chair. There was no chair in our room, when we requested a chair it took 8 hours to get one.
Our room was supposed to accommodate up to eight people however it had three plates, three cups, three spoons, no forks, no knives.
The breakfast was satisfactory, not bad but not great. Staff at checking was less than friendly, not helpful when we asked about a luggage cart. The front desk simply said well I don’t see one. I asked about the pool and was told it would be closed for our whole five day stay. This was a huge disappointment as we were in town for a baseball camp at LSU. After being at the stadium for seven hours a day my grandson was looking forward to relaxing in the pool. The fitness center which my son in law always uses when we travel was also closed for our whole five day stay. I asked the front desk about the fitness center and they had no explanation. I could understand a machine being down but not the whole fitness center.
Housekeeping was to come every other day of your stay which is fine. They are to make the beds, bring towels, freshen the kitchen and empty the trash. On our second day they emptied the trash and brought towels, that was the extent of it. They did not make the beds or freshen the kitchen area. On day four of our stay housekeeping did not show up at all. With six people being outside at LSU all day in July we needed fresh towels at the very least. We went to the front desk to ask for towels, the did not have any but said they would send some up. We were fine with waiting to have the towels brought up, however the towels never arrive at the room.
Overall a very disappointing stay, this hotel definitely needs to be renovated and the staff retrained.
