Hampton Inn Shelbyville

I liked the location

Brkfst was great. Lots of choices. We are vegitarian.

Location nice. Staff nice.

WE stay at almost exclusively Hiltons. (Suggestion in case you do not want to read all of this. Very nice, well run Comfort Inn across the street. ) This one was supposedly upgraded/refurbished but it is clear they used the cheapest furnishings possible, almost to being tacky. There are no drawers, not even in bathroom. No shelves for your own shampoes, soaps, etc. Baseboards were literally wall board cut and just glued in place with cut side up! Pool, very cold. Key card machine broke so if you leave the room you are locked out AND Owners know all this. Pop and water matching doesn't work. And worst of all, I had asked for a handicap room with roll in shower. I did have a chair but the only shower head was 8 feet in air! No hand help unit. So how is that supposed to work!!! This has been pointe out to the owners and obviously they are not gonna put a penny more into operation then they have to. It was clean and staff was nice but priced as a Hampton?Hilton and certainly is not!

We traveled to Indiana to visit our children and grandchildren. I have been a Hilton Honors member for several years because we always know what type of facility that we will be getting. Unfortunately, this trip failed to deliver the Hilton quality that we are accustomed to. In our first room, the electrical outlets in the bathroom did not work as well as the outlet on the wall adjoining the bathroom. We figured we could live with that. Next, the shower handle would only turn so far, and the water would not go past warm. We don't complain about much, so we didn't mention it that day. On our floor, I discovered the ice machine wasn't working. After the second day of our stay, we told the front desk, and the lady was very nice and said that she would move our room. We packed up and moved a few doors down to another room. It was fine, but the sink would barely drain. It just seemed like a comedy of errors, but not what we have been accustomed to while staying in the Hilton brand. I would like to mention that the staff were very nice and helpful, but they could only do so much. I just think that this particular hotel needs to be updated to meet the Hilton standards.

Nice staff

We were almost put off by the negative reviews but we are very glad we decided to make our own judgment. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable as was the bed. Breakfast was good with good food choices. We look forward to staying here again.
