I had booked and paid for this stay in January of 2025 through booking.com. Upon my arrival the front desk informed me that their system is showing that my room is paid in full but that payment from booking.com to the hotel wasn’t completed. I was told I will be given my room key and they would sort it out. They asked for my credit card and was told it was for incidentals. Upon checking out I noticed I was charged full price for the stay again on my credit card. I called the front desk and was told they couldn’t get in touch with booking.com to get payment so in order to close my bill I was charged for the stay. I was told to contact booking.com to resolve the issue myself. I didn’t think this was right….now I’m out an additional $200 and will be inconvenienced to resolve the issue myself. Not cool!

Good brand, poor experience at this location that doesn't match the price
Pros:

We generally really like Hampton Inn hotels. The rooms are usually spacious and comfortable, several staff members we interacted with were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good and consistent with what we typically expect from the brand.

Cons:

Our stay at the Hampton Inn Taos was very disappointing for several reasons.

First, the pool requires guests to walk outside, which was extremely uncomfortable given how cold it was during our stay. On top of that, there were only a few towels available, and they were very small—too small even for our young children. There is also no hot tub, which was surprising for a hotel in this price range.

Second, our rooms were missing several basic items upon arrival. The soap and shampoo dispensers were completely empty, and there were no sheets provided for the extra bed. These are fundamental amenities that should be addressed before a room is made available to guests.

Finally, we specifically requested two adjacent rooms with a connecting door, yet the rooms we were assigned were not next to each other.

Given the high nightly rate we paid (around $300 per night), we expected a significantly higher level of service and attention to detail.

Best staff I have dealt with in a long time
Pros:

All the staff was friendly. We were offered more towels without having to ask. Everyone was friendly and attentive to our needs
