Lovely hotel. Very welcoming and helpful staff.
Nothing
Friendly staff, very traditional and attractive decor in rooms and dining room. Car park opposite (paid but this is usual close to York) and easy to access from the centre. Very clean and comfortable bed.
Food was the main let down. Dinner took 1 hour 20 min to arrive which is less than ideal particularly with a child. Calamari was limp and wet rather than crisp. Breakfast was also disappointing. The avocado did not appear to be fresh- perhaps a pre-made dip - and the poached eggs were hard. The pancakes were drowned in piles of jam and fairly inedible as a result.
We have stayed here twice, the first was a few years ago and it was amazing. The second time wasn't good.
Very slow staff in restaurant, , waited for a bout an hour for food to arrive. The Food when it arrived was amazing.
On check out, the bill was wrong by nearly 50 pounds, however it was refunded straight away I showed them my email receipt.
Great overall.
Filtered coffee and tea service . Fresher orange juice not cartons.
Room was good for the price
Staff were lovely but seriously understaffed, waited nearly 45 mins for our food and had to keep trying to get attention for any service, again not the staff but the management
Main Hotel Lobby
poor service in the bar
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Reception staff were very informative and restaurant staff friendly and pleasant. Breakfast food provided was good value for money.
The room was clean, however, the small shower head in the bathroom was covered in mould and very dirty which makes it a health hazard as this harbours bacteria and me not want to use it during our 3 night stay.
Location and cleanliness were excellent. Staff were very good in dealing with queries.
If you have mobility issues, not the best place. There are no access ramps to enter the hotel. We were on the top floor, there is no lift, we had to carry our luggage up 3 flights of stairs.
Great value for money. 10 mins walk into york
Great hotel, about 15 minutes walk into York. Nice and quiet
The heating did come on in the middle of the night then the air-conditioning! Was quiet noisy. Didn't take us long to work out how to turn it all off tho so no problem.
Location, cleanliness and facilities.
Slightly noisy air con.
Room was and hotel interior beautifully decorated. Lady on reception was lovely very professional and helpful on all counts and engaging.
Food poor a lot not available on menu.
