Disappointed
Cons:

The room we had was extremely noisy . Air conditioning units were sited directly outside the bedroom window and ran through the night and the soil stack ran through our room meaning every time someone above had a shower or used toilet it ran extremely noisily through our room.

Great location, comfy bed
Pros:

The bed! Would have liked a bath in my room and I think we were given the dog rooms.

Cons:

Couldn’t find switch to spotlights in the room, the room didn’t have a bath and the heating had its own timer which came on in the middle of the night which was quite noisy

Perfect from check in to check out
Pros:

We stayed as a couple for my boyfriend’s birthday and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay for our visit to York. Our room was so stunning, spotlessly clean and decorated beautifully, the hotel itself is gorgeous and such a short walk to the city centre and train station. The staff from check in to check out were so friendly and helpful. We will 100% be back in the future, cannot fault a single thing.

Cons:

Nice hotel, always lovely to visit York
Pros:

The breakfasts were lovely. Staff in the hotel friendly. We loved that there was a space to sit in the foyer area which was spacious and quiet.

Cons:

Room was nice and spacious but decor a little tired - could do with an uplift! The location wasn't quite as close to the train station as we had reckoned, so it took a little longer, but we managed no probs.

Staff were lovely, decor is fabulous!

Cons:

Cooked breakfast could be better, the bacon is dry and no options given when unable to eat mushrooms and beans.

Good value for money but breakfast and bar service and choice a huge disappointment
Pros:

Room was spacious and clean with a lovely large bed. The staff in the restaurant and reception were very pleasant.

Cons:

Food and beverage offerings were way below the standard of the hotel. Cooked breakfast was poor and badly presented. Bar was inadequate with just one draft lager offering which ran out..... lack of staff in this area, which led to long delays and frustrated customers. Virtually all of the wines on the list were unavailable the first night and worst still on the second. This was a ridiculous situation and totally unacceptable. Evening meal was just adequate, which meant we only did the one night. They really need to address these issues as it lets down what is otherwise a nice hotel. We would stay again and believe the management have picked up on this.

Classic architecture!
Pros:

Perfect art nouveau building with comfortable rooms and a great breakfast. Years ago I chose this hotel for some colleagues visiting from London, was struck by the wonderful fireplaces in the bar, and now finally I have stayed there myself as well.
