Really lovely cleaner, well decorated room, lovely staff, great food
very busy noisy road outside, but the location was known beforehand, so there is no reason to complain about it
Location, value for money
The breakfast was first class and on our return each night we dined in the hotel from their full and varied menu. A wonderful choice for both meals.
Can't think of anything
Schone kamer met goede badkamer
Gedateerd.te klein bed
Central location. Spacious rooms. Good selection of beers. Friendly helpful staff.
Breakfast was very basic with limited choice.
The hotel and staff were very good and always helpfull. The breakfast was very good too.
The location was literally in the middle of Axminster. The hotel is surrounded on all 4 sides by very busy roads. The noise was bad for most of the nights we stayed. The rooms were very hot, a fan was provided, it was in the middle of a heat wave though.
Room was nice and big. Bathroom, the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water. Room was in full sun most of the day so the staff had put a portable standing fan put into the room. Staff very welcoming and chatty. A good base to see Devon & Dorset.
Breakfast was very disappointing. Small choice on cereals, no skimmed milk, we did ask for some. Fruit past its best. Only strawberry jam on offer. Cooked breakfast first morning, poached egg hard and detached from the white. Ingredients ie mushrooms and sausages not the best of quality. Second morning went for fried egg on toast. Egg came out under cooked and upside down. Couple opposite us completely left their full English breakfasts untouched. A shame as just a bit more care, I would have not sent out either of my cooked breakfasts.
I was staying in the area to attend a course at The River Cottage and it was very convenient for that. At dinner I was on my own but a local couple at the next table chatted to me and made me feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable. It was a very hot day but there was a fan that worked well.
Lovely traditional inn right in the centre of Axminster, just a 10 minute walk from the train station. Extremely friendly and attentive staff who made us feel welcome right away and were available to help with any questions we had. Beautiful old building with original features, this might be challenging for people with accessibility requirements for example our room was up very steep stairs but I believe there were other rooms available on the ground floor. Breakfast was included with the room rate and the options included full English, some kind of egg or beans on toast, and french toast, so as vegetarians we felt accommodated. Room was spacious with large private bathroom, we did stay here during the hot summer which meant the room was quite hot, but we did expect this in an old building which probably can't have A/C retrofitted, the staff did provide a fan for the room though which helped to move the air around. Room was very clean and tidily presented with fresh towels, bedding, kettle with hot drinks available, plenty of storage space for clothing etc.
There was some traffic noise from the road but again to be expected due to the central location and having windows open in summer, we still managed to sleep just fine!
Clean, well looked after. Staff helpfully and friendly. Car parking space was tight but always managed to get a space.
Nothing really.
Nice location, short drive to Lyme Regis
Have stayed at The George Hotel on a number of time now, as of the very first time we stayed, it has always kept up it high standard. The Staff are aways pleasent and polite. Hotel always clean. Highly recommended.
All that the Hotel had to offer. Great weekend.
Hotel room was clean and fresh. In heatwave a fan was provided and any extra requirements offered. Food in the bar was excellent and large portions. Even with the football on late the noise from the bar was not disturbing for early sleepers.
Parking was tight but made it in time for last space so happy.
The room was clean, and the hotel is in an ideal place to travel to Lyme Regis. Friendly bar staff.
Lied to by staff.
Arrived and was told booking.com had sent the hotel a request for a double room even though I had a twin listed on my confirmation email.
No twins were available so the best the hotel could do was provide a pull out single bed with a 2 inch thick mattress that was subpar. Whilst this was annoying I didn't blame the hotel since they insisted booking.com sent the wrong room.
After my stay I reached out to booking.com to investigate this and they informed me the hotel did in fact receive a booking for a twin as I booked. Therefore, I do not appreciate being lied to and would have appreciated and honest and upfront apology that they made a mistake with the room booking.
The bed was uncomfortable and my guest had a very unpleasant sleep.
Central location and a free car park. Room and bathroom were Clean.
No aircon, windows didn’t open very far. Bed wasn’t very comfortable. Breakfast was average.
Mooie locatie, eten drinken en slapen dus was makkelijk. Fijne bediening en zeer goed ontbijt.
In de morgen al vlug veel geluid (verkeer) in de kamer
