Great location to everything we were doing and wonderful views from our room. Pool/Hot Tub area was small but comfortable. Rooms were large and comfortable.
Service in the hotel restaurant was incredibly slow. Took forever to get our order and then again to get our check. You can hear all the sounds in the hallway as people were coming to their rooms all night/morning long and not being quiet. Worker kept needing to be called to get towels for the pool.
Stayed for one night on a business trip. The hotel has an excellent location and offers a decent breakfast.
The overall impression of the hotel is significantly better in the lobby than in the rooms. For a short stay, the room was acceptable and, importantly, clean. That said, the very low ceilings and the extremely small bathroom were disappointing and not what I would expect from a four-star hotel in downtown Detroit.
The staff was very friendly and polite. The room was gorgeous with the most beautiful view ever.
Good location and view, nice rooms, good gym facilities
Irresponsible and expensive valet service. Our brand new car has a gas cap missing after a night’s stay at the hotel parking area, two valets promised separately to check camera for us and call us if they found anything but never did.
The convenience of being across from The Huntington.
The room was a wheelchair accessible room, which wasn't the problem. The blinds in the bathroom was uncomfortable. I wasn't sure if someone could see in. Made me uncomfortable about that. It was also cold in the bathroom.
The view
The fact that there was no room service. No complimentary breakfast. Only breakfast offered cost $18. No microwave in the room. No casual dining place offered, only business casual places. $45 daily fee for valet.
The front desk staff was very helpful with location around the hotel also accommodating.
Hot water needs to be a little more hotter.
Location in the city and view
Property was fine. It was just the room I stayed in was next to the elevator so I heard it operating all night. No good sleep.
Great friendly staff. Clean, well laid out rooms. Very enjoyable stay.
My stay at Fort Pontchartrain during my business trip for a conference at Huntington Place was absolutely incredible. Outside of the location being steps away from the conference, the front staff was so welcoming. Jazz was extremely kind and professional. There was a wait for check-in and we thoroughly explained why and the expectations. The rest of the staff I encountered from security, to the rooftop restaurant staff, to the new housekeeping manager were all so polite and helped make my stay a really wonderful one. Food was great quality both at Urban Cellars and the rooftop lounge (what a view!). Overall, highly recommended and will definitely be visiting again.
Staff was very friendly and helpful and it was clean and looked good as well
Parking is valet only and it is $45 per night just to park your car at the hotel and its $70 if you are oversized. Also at check out times you will wait 20 minutes for an elevator and the stairs aren't an option because they only have emergency doors that have alarms. Also wait another 30 minutes in the lobby to pay and get your car.
