The location is excellent for nearby bars with live music. Central to nearby amenities. The staff are very friendly and eager to help out. The parking garage next to the hotel is convenient. There is a lot of history here which is preserved in the design of the rooms.
The rooms are a lackluster for the price. Very small bathroom. The carpets looked dirty, but that may have been partially the design. The mini fridge was also extremely small. Wouldn't fit more than a few water bottles.
I requested that I have a room facing away from the street as I am a light sleeper and needed rest to participate in on campus classes for the week. They heard my request, noted it upon check in, and gave me a very peaceful and comfortable room. I was so impressed that they remembered when I arrived and not simply when matching me to a room. The customer service and comfort was excellent!
I would have liked a microwave, but at the same time I didn't go out of my way to ask for one or if one was available.

We were on the 4th floor facing Queen St. and between the traffic noise and people yelling on the street we had a difficult time sleeping. Around 2am things would calm down, but before that it was incredibly loud. I had to use earplugs and a noise machine app to try and drown out the noise. It would also be nice to have coffee in the lobby for those guests who prefer a bigger coffee in the morning. The Nespresso machines are great, but the coffees are tiny.
Beautiful character amazing staff and a lovely room. Stayed with my partner we loved the experience will be back for our engagement.

This hotel was pre booked and paid for almost 2 month in advance for a graduation on Friday June 15th, 2026. We checked in on Thursday night the 14th of June. The water for hotel was being fixed. Ok we thought, it’s Thurs night. The next morning at 9 AM we had a social work Masters graduation to attend at Sir Wilmer Laurier. We did BUT with no showers as only cold water and not much available. We were told by the manager [email protected] that the hotel would take care of our inconvenience and money paid in advance at $864.00.

We were promised the value by card for this same hotel any where in Ontario. To date, nothing has been received, even after two inquiries to Mr. Espinosa ‘s email. I feel that we were duped, the reception knew the water was off the night we checked in , and didn’t tell us ,especially being prepaid. The water was minimum and only COLD the day of our graduation. No Showers!!!
Good atmosphere.
Hot water takes time I waited more than 5 minutes but didn’t get.in the morning it was ok.
The Walper is conveniently located within a 7 min walk from the Centre in the Square. The hotel is modern and clean with excellent helpful staff. Would stay here again.
There was an issue with the temp control in our shower. They made note of it when I told them about it at checkout to have it fixed.

The included breakfast was order off the menu which would have been fine except one woman was taking care of the entire restaurant and completely overwhelmed. I give her credit for staying calm. Get her some help please.

Het gebouw in industriële stijl is smaakvol gerenoveerd.
We hebben bijna niet geslapen. Hoe mooi het hotel ook moge zijn, de essentie van een hotel is toch dat je er een goede nachtrust hebt. De elementaire zaken om dat te garanderen zijn niet voorzien.
Het hotel ligt midden in het centrum en er is een levendig uitgaansleven. Er was tot in de vroege uurtjes straatlawaai. De ramen zijn niet geluidsdicht. Tot overmaat van ramp kan de kamer niet volledig verduisterd worden. Met de lichtreclame van het gebouw aan de overkant was dat vreselijk storend.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything was clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating! Its a beautiful hotel and renovated.
Great hotel, centre of town, great restaurant on site, comfortable beds, funky style. Loved it all. Booked again for next year's Blues fest.
