We stayed at L’esplanade for two nights in a Deluxe Studio Ocean View, and it was absolutely magical. We were blown away by the gorgeous lobby overlooking Grand Case Bay; and even more thrilled to find we had this same view from the patio in our room. The attention to detail in this resort is truly five star - from the immaculate rooms with beautiful wood furnishings, plush white towels, fridge stocked with water and cold drinks, to the bougainvillea petals placed throughout the room. The service from all of the staff was also five star - they truly go the extra mile. We felt lucky to be staying here.
The resort includes breakfast - your choice of two pre-ordered pastries from a local bakery, plus fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee and tea. There’s an espresso machine and cold lemon/cucumber water in the lobby. We also ordered the quiche at an additional cost of €8 - well worth it; the bakery items were delicious.
I did a few exercise classes at the Ti Temple - Hatha flow yoga and strength training - and both were excellent (bring your bug spray, or else they have some available to purchase in the lobby).
We also made use of the beach chairs and towels at their sister property, Le Petit Hotel, a beautiful 25 min walk on the other side of Grand Case Bay, much of which can be walked on the beach. The start of Restaurant Row is a very short walk from L’esplanade, down a gorgeous palm and bougainvillea-lined path, past the Ti Spa.
If you are looking to stay somewhere truly special, L’esplanade is it!
This is such a nice place to stay! amazing views and very nice rooms. everyone enjoyed the pool, the drinks and the grilled sandwiches but it was the staff that made it a top place which we'll come back soon to visit!
Hotel L’Esplanade is a family owned and operated boutique hotel in the hills overlooking Grand Case. Beautiful rooms. Exceptional service. Friendly staff. Serene environment. Fabulous yoga. Complimentary shuttle to/from restaurant row.
My partner and I arrived directly to Hotel L'Esplanade after picking up our rental car from the airport and were immediately blown away by the beauty and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel as well as the suite. The open air lobby let's you appreciate the Mediterranean architecture yet beauty of the Island you are in with the views and decor as you are received with a drink. The gorgeous grounds (including the pool, yoga, spa areas) with immaculate landscape, many colorful flowers, singing birds and visiting iguanas, made our daily walks around the hotel so enjoyable. The panoramic view from the balcony with stunning sunsets was dreamy and my birthday celebration even more magical. Mind you we discovered this gem by chance, as a very last minute trip and our first time in St. Martin. We are so grateful we did and stayed on the French side. L'Esplanade was truly "home". We would greet Jessica or Philomena or the housekeepers daily as we picked up the delicious complimentary French breakfast one enjoys on the balcony prior to going out to adventure or relax for the rest of the day. The walk to Restaurant Row is nice and the options for meals abound. But staying "home" for dinner was easy as you have everything you need in the kitchen and we relaxed with meals we made after we shopped at Super U for the week. Now let's not forget the hospitality of L'Esplanade to also welcome its guests to their sister hotel Le petite where you can relax directly on the beach. There, Yamina and Remy were always a pleasure to visit as we chatted like old friends. You can also easily snorkel Grand Case Bay from Le Petite and it was fun. Back to L'Esplanade, the pool offers a very relaxing atmosphere where you can also enjoy a drink and some food. There's also a boutique on site from which my boyfriend Adam bought a birthday gift they nicely arranged. He was also fortunate to spend some time speaking with Kristin, again which felt like you are with an old friend or family. Ok this has been long, but in summary I am still smiling when I think of the amazing time we had at L'Esplanade. We were able to recharge like in no other place and the happiness we still carry from our time there is palpable every time we reminisce about our trip. I hope one day to be able to return and bring my parents and sisters as St. Martin is a beautiful island and Hotel L'Esplanade exceptional. Go visit, you will love it too! Merci, thank you, gracias to you and all your staff at L'Esplanade.
I loved my experience here! Top notch service and food! I would highly recommend visiting, plenty of activities to do! I will be back!! Thank you!!
If I could rate this place 100 times I would! Best island experience I have ever had. So welcoming and beautiful- staff was so friendly- I felt right at home. So clean and there is so much to do for relaxation and opportunities for adventure
Property was beautiful!!!
Love the staff and the breakfast was great
Loved the location of the hotel. It was an easy walk to beach and restaurants.
Beautiful resort and they were very accommodating! Breakfast every morning was delicious and hanging by the pool was our favorite spot!
Loved this hotel so much, everything was perfect from start to finish. Boutique experience at its finest. Can’t wait to return. Feather pillows a plus!
What a phenomenal hotel. Everything was top shelf from start to finish! Make sure to book direct with the hotel, not Expedia or another 3rd party for best experience and rate. Yummy free breakfast, full kitchen to add on to their offerings, massage at spa was one of the best, yoga space gorgeous with authentic teachers, flowers on grounds along with birds were so enjoyable! What else, short walk to beach/dinner, loved Grand Case Bay the best for beach, no need to go elsewhere - hang at Le Temps des Cerises, Rainbow or Tropics depending on vibe you are looking for. Loved hanging at pool/bar mingling with other guests. This is a boutique experience, if you are looking for cookie cutter, go elsewhere. Considered Orient Beach Hotel and soooo happy we stuck with L’Esplanade, seaweed was nuts on Orient and OBH didn’t have the charm or class that L’Esplanade has. Like the hotel says, “EVERYTHING IS BETTER IN GRAND CASE”!!!
My husband and I have been traveling to St. Martin over the last 20+ years and found a petite hotel in Grand Case. We typically stay there because it's quiet and sits directly on the beach with only 10-rooms so it's very romantic. Where the managers/staff treat you like family!
So, for my girls-trip I suggested the sister hotel - Hotel L'Esplanade - which is nearby (20-30 minute walk along the beach) but sits perched in the hills. This hotel of 26 rooms, and, like it's little sister, has a full kitchen and stunning views. The rooms are a little more dated but very nicely decorated still. Be sure to pack shower gel or the like as they do not supply that in the rooms. Only small pieces of non-sudsy soap. Odd, right?
These hotels offer a complimentary shuttle to the gastronomic area of Grand Case which allows you to enjoy the French wines (or rum) offered without the worry of driving "home". However, driving around the island is easy...simply keep the water to your right or left (depending on which part of the island you're discovering)! The hotel can set up a rental for you, as well, which is very convenient.
Unlike its little sister, there is a swim-up pool and bar and an area for lounging or hanging with friends. You can get a small bite poolside, as well. Be sure to talk to Frankie, Francesca and Kenny! They are incredibly funny and kind and creative and my overall favorite of my stay there! They are my family now. :-)
Also, unlike its little sister, the staff was not quite as pleasant. No "bonjour": no "how is your stay"; no "can I assist you with anything" - this was truly disappointing because I sold this place as I have for their sister hotel. NEVER was I asked if they could make a dinner reservation for me and my friends! NOT ONCE! Not even a suggestion! SMH
On the other hand, the housekeeping ladies are thorough, kind, chatty and honest! One of my friends dropped her tennis bracelet and did not know where she'd lost it. She shrugged it off to the beach or some activity only to find it in her room later that day! Simply amazing and sweet!
The spa and yoga are VERY good! A little tricky to get to and from but worth the trek!
Be advised and warned that there are a LOT of stairs! Be sure to let them know if you've got a handicap/issue because they can put you on a floor with a room to accommodate.
I have literally traveled the world and, for me, it's the little things...a good morning, a smile of appreciation, a how's your stay or acknowledgement that keeps me returning to the a place to call home during a vacaton. Hotel L'Esplanade fell a little short on that. :-(
À plus tard St Martin!
Very nice location, cool breezes, great views, excellent continental breakfast, walk into Grand Case.
My partner and I hosted a retreat at L'Esplanade, which has long been one of my favorite hotels on the island. The service our guests received was the 5-star service I am used to and so love from this hotel. Patricia, Frank, Kenny., Franjesca, Kristin and the others took such great care of us all. I will return to this hotel and their sister hotel, Petit Hotel, time and time again, and will undoubtedly be holding next year's retreat with my L'Esplanade family.
Very nice Caribbean hotel with beautiful rooms and grounds. Manix provided excellent transportation to dinner each night of our stay. Totally French restaurants in Grand Case are very good. Breakfast pastries and fruits were welcome each morning. Would stay again.
Breakfast and beautiful view!
Outstanding! I'm not sure which is better, the view, the room, or the amazing helpful staff. Christine went above and beyond to assist us with a string of needs.
The room is very well appointed, clean and comfortable. We look forward to a return trip.
Great hotel. Beautiful grounds. Small pool.very quiet. Breakfasr super everyday.
It was our second stay at L’Esplanade and everything was outstanding just as our first stay was.
Besides being in walking distance to beautiful beaches and fabulous restaurants L’Esplanade also offers excellent yoga classes with Dinah and Elizabeth and Frank the host at the gorgeous poolside bar.
Host Christine was also very knowledgeable and accommodating. All in all L’Esplanade is an excellent choice from top to bottom.
Loved it
