Great location. Very pretty courtyard
Room was comfortable.
Breakfast should start earlier to accommodate guests with excursions planned. We missed 50% of our included breakfasts because of the late start. The ones we were able to have were very tasty though.
Taxi pick up from the airport was way overpriced. Check in was disorganized.
The property is very pretty with an internal courtyard containing a couple of shared tables. The staff are really friendly and always eager to help. I had a problem with my eyes while I was there and they helped me find an optician. They also lay on a generous and delicious breakfast every morning. I only tried the cooked option once, but it was one of the best things I ate in Oaxaca.
Despite being on an incredibly busy road, the hotel itself is relatively quiet and peaceful and I had no trouble sleeping.
The whole property is immaculate thanks to the smiley cleaning team.
They also have help yourself Mezcal!
There are a few large rooms around the courtyard, that from the glimpses I got looked beautiful. But my room was in what felt like an annexe at the back. It was dark, thanks to the window that looks out onto two brick walls. There was a tiny (and I mean just enough room for a chair) balcony which shared that view.
It felt pretty basic, but everything worked well so I think I was just a bit disappointed because the rest of the property was so pretty.
Also you could still hear some road noise and music from the restaurants, but not so much that it was too disturbing.
I also found it to be a 15-20 minute walk to the attractions and many of the restaurants in the town. It’s not a big deal and you can get taxis if you prefer, but these are yellow local cabs so if you don’t speak Spanish that might be a challenge. I didn’t use any taxis but did get warned that they can scam tourists.
The Oaxacan style breakfast was different every morning and very good. There was optional fruit, toast, cereal, juice, etc. offered every morning as well. The staff was very kind and helpful. All the plants and vines made it feel like an oasis in the middle of the city.
Extraordinary service. Standout breakfast every morning. Quiet, spacious room in a central location. One of the best hotel experiences we have had in years. 10/10
Immaculate, plants galore, feel instantly relaxed when you walked in, quiet, everyone made sure you had everything you needed
Nothing
Casa Pereyra is a wonderful oasis of calm and elegance off a busy street close to the Zocalo. All of the staff were welcoming and most helpful in their recommendations for places to eat and things to do and in solving logistical problems. The breakfast was superb and was different each of the five days I was there. I very much look forward to returning to the casa Pereyra on my next visit to Oaxaca.
Nothing!
Hotel Casa Pereyra was a perfect base for our first visit to Oaxaca. Our suite was very comfortable and more spacious than we expected, and we enjoyed the peaceful courtyard seating areas. Breakfast featured a different local specialty each day, and a chance to meet other guests. Most of all, we appreciated the exceptionally welcoming team, ready to make sure we had the best time in Oaxaca. We’ll be back!
We booked our 5-day stay at Hotel Casa Pereyra based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and its proximity to the Zócalo, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The hotel is a beautifully preserved old colonial home, and it is truly gorgeous.
From the moment you arrive, César, his wife Sara, and their entire staff make you feel incredibly welcome—you immediately feel right at home. The property itself is stunning, with charming courtyards that invite you to relax and soak in the atmosphere.
Breakfast is offered daily from 8–10am and includes yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, juice, toast, coffee, and a rotating traditional Oaxacan specialty that changes every day—so delicious and such a thoughtful touch. In the afternoons, they even set out a bottle of local mezcal in the courtyard for guests to enjoy, which adds to the warm, communal vibe.
The rooms are immaculately clean, tastefully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. The beds are cozy and inviting, making it easy to unwind after a full day of exploring. A small but brilliant detail: they even had a digital hand scale to weigh luggage—super handy after my shopping sprees!
Everything about Casa Pereyra feels intentional, welcoming, and authentic. When we come back to Oaxaca, we will definitely be staying here again. Highly, highly recommend!

The property was beautiful, clean, and well-decorated. The entire staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay as nice as possible (Juan Carlos especially). The breakfast was tasty and cooked with lots of love. Great location.
Small complaint - the rooms’ private outdoor areas offer little sound privacy. If someone is having a conversation on theirs, it can be heard loud and clear in yours. This wasn’t a huge issue since we spent most of our time outside the hotel exploring.
Great location, everything in walking distance in the amazing city of Oaxaca. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and consistently checked in with us to make sure everything was OK. Lovely and brightly coloured courtyard. Our room was very clean.
The bed was a double and not a queen or king size.
Nothing
Bad location - on main thoroughfare so very noisy
No hot water
No water pressure
Poor WiFi
Tiny flat screen tv
Meager breakfast
No closet
What appeared to have been with dows were boarded up with bricks
Staff! They made us feel like family!
Location was on a very busy ,noisy road but once through the door was like an oasis of quiet ,cool and calm, all the noise and bustle from outside was firmly shut out. All the staff were extremely friendly , chatty and helpful and had some great suggestions on where to eat and visit. Great breakfast with interesting daily changing hot option, Daily changing homemade juice added and extra layer.
An easy 5 minute walk straight down the road to the main plaza from where all parts of the main town were easily reached.
We stayed in room 8 which was a bit smaller and tucked away than expected. There is an old historic section of the building with rooms and suites which you pass through to get to the part where our room was located in the new part of the building. We had a small balcony which was covered and shaded but with other balconies from other rooms very close to the side and below. Any conversation from those balconies or from rooms attached could be heard if your patio door was open to let some air in. Our room was in need of redecoration with a lot of scuffing on the walls and some chunks out of the plaster. The walls were completely bare and could have done with any kind of artwork. The other rooms may have offered better value for money but ours seemed expensive for what we got.
I am glad I chose this hotel. Cozy, beautiful, in a good location. Excellent service, hospitable hosts and staff.
