Pros:

We had a good few days. The staff were friendly and informative and the restaurant excellent.

Pathetic, condescending manager who should find a new line of work because clearly hospitality is not his skill.

Nothing worthy of mentioning or good enough to offset the attitude of the manager john.

Cons:

The manager was belligerent and condescending when I questioned the need to leave a credit card on file as this was not included in the booking agreement, I was told it’s normal in NZ as if to say I must be a tourist (which I’m not) and it is not normal practice in NZ for a 4-star.
The managers words “but we think we are a 5-star.”
I spoke with John the manager twice after this once relating to finding used chewing gum on the nightstand 15min after arrival and he was simply not interested in even hearing why I was at the desk. I later found a dirty spoon with the coffee set up.

Simply a terrible experience from the moment I stepped in.
Would not recommend.

Pros:

Easy to book and find, convenient to have good restaurant on site. Bed comfortable.

Cons:

Housekeeping are doing their job very well but management display a total lack of care and attention. Our room had a number of outstanding maintenance issues that affected our stay.- toilet cistern ran constantly, shower head was malfunctioning, bathroom door wouldn't latch shut. The decision to put the wardrobe, fridge and tea/coffee facilities all in the same single wardrobe space essentially made none of it accessible, there hadn't even been the care taken to change the direction the fridge door opened so you had to move a lounge chair to get into the fridge. When we let front desk know of these issues they wrote them down but I suspect they are all longstanding issues as the toilet had staining from the leak.

It was a pleasant stay close to town.
Pros:

Late shift Reception guy very friendly and helpful. Noted we had only booked a queen bed and upgraded us to a bigger bed. Very thoughtful of him.

Cons:

Resturant a little over priced

Very enjoyable and recommend Sasa the restaurant too.
Pros:

The shower was great and the unit was very clean and nicely decorated. Apparently we had been upgraded to an executive room.

Cons:

We could have done with bedside lamps. We had bedside tables but no lamps. Our friends who stayed in another executive unit, exactly the same as ours had lamps, so maybe it was just an oversight or they were broken?

Pros:

So, I didn't actually stay at the property because on the day of arrival I took ill. I contacted the hotel and explained my situation and they were understanding and friendly. I knew that I was outside the cancellation window so didn't see the point of going down the cancellation route due to my own experience working in hospitality.
When I had visited the hotel a week prior, the staff member that I spoke to was very friendly and I would certainly stay there in the future if needs be

Excellent Accommodation in a Fab Location
Pros:

Thank you for the room upgrade. It was wonderful! Super clean and quiet. Helpful advice given and name remembered. Made to feel welcome. I was disappointed the restaurant wasn't open (Sunday night), as I've heard such good things about it. I was given advice as to where to dine instead, and this was appreciated. Wish I could have stayed longer. Highly Recommended.
