Our first destination in Portugal was the Algarve, and we chose Vila Vita Parc based on a recommendation—and wow, what a beautiful place!
The views, the rooms, the service (especially by European standards), and the variety of restaurant options were simply brilliant. The property has so many stunning spots to relax and take in the scenery. My daughter and I especially loved spending time by the pool, which offered breathtaking views of the coastline.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, each offering something different, but our favourites were the Italian and the Japanese restaurants. Both were exceptional and memorable dining experiences.
I would absolutely love to go back—without a doubt, this is my top pick in the Algarve, and possibly even in all of Portugal.
Nice but…lacking.
I’ll start with the rooms - soundproofing is relatively non existent, I was put in a room a few doors down from the bar area near reception and one night it was SO loud - like nightclub level noise with live music. Great if you’re an attendee at the event, not great if you’re trying to sleep. Honestly not at all what I’d expect of a 5* hotel. Also general noise eg people walking down the corridor, talking can be heard. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect excellent soundproofing at a hotel of this calibre.
There’s a huge “tipping culture” here - I don’t mind tipping for excellent service but there is an expectation from every staff member for a tip at every interaction, it’s actually quite annoying.
Restaurants were ok but the food didn’t blow me away, again, I’d expect at a hotel of this calibre and price point to be serving incredible food night in, night out but it was 6-7/10 in my opinion. Service in the restaurants felt rushed, impersonal and transactional. There was one evening when a waiter accidentally spilt something on one of our guests at the table and whilst they did apologise, there was no offer of dry cleaning or even a replacement drink of the one that was spilt (bare minimum in my opinion!).
The beach is incredibly small and around the resort there’s millions of mosquitoes (these can be managed using natural methods eg. Natural predators, candles etc but it didn’t seem there was any attempt at this (four ducks for a whole resort isn’t going to make much of an impact!). Then in the daytime? Flies! Millions of them. I have travelled across Europe and stayed in fabulous hotels and never experienced the level of insects as I did at this hotel. Flies landing on me constantly whilst I laid on the lounger.
Dead fish in the decorative water (left rotting in the sun for days), this water feature has a lot of fish in a very small space and I can’t see how the fish are living happily.
This hotel has fantastic grounds, a fabulous breakfast, a good gym (8/10) and was very clean but the absence of soundproofing, the transactional and impersonal service and the sheer volume of insects means, it is my opinion, that this hotel does not deliver value for money whatsoever. Perhaps my expectations were too high but I feel a hotel at this price point should not only be exceeding the bar but setting it. But this hotel? Lacking.
Many restaurants and shops here. Unfortunately the number of consumers burden the number of capable staff, and the availability of services. We found that we spent most of our time waiting or tying to determine how to get off premises and where to go in order to eat or be served. We had to settle on room service mostly. It was always at least 90 minutes in coming to the room and always cold. The health spa was not healthy and very crowded with few towels, recliners or slippers available. There were loud and poorly disciplined children in adult spaces. The management was professional for the most part but their decisions were not honored or even recognized by their staff. Many of the patrons were bewildered, hungry, and angry about the conditions as were we. All in all, I would say that this may be advertised as a 5
Star resort but it functions as a 2 Star.
This was our 5th time at Vila Vita Parc and it continues to be one of our favourite hotels in Europe.
We really enjoy celebrating Christmas at the hotel. The team are amazing! Their welcome, smiles and enthusiasm make us feel like family coming home for Christmas. Thank you!
The Christmas Market is a highlight and despite the weather this year, we still managed to attend and enjoy all 3 days.
Breakfast at Atlantico is fantastic and a great way to start the day. Also a special mention to the team (and chef!) at the Biergarden restaurant. This is the first time we have been to the off site restaurant and it was great. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food is amazing!
Thank you again to all the team at Vila Vita Parc. You continue to excel at everything you do and provide a very much appreciated, 5* service with a warmth and professionalism rarely found in other 5* hotels.
We will be booking for next Christmas as soon as the dates are released!
Wishing you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year! xx
What we like : A fantastic place place with a fantastic service and à very Nice room, the breakfast at the Atlantic restaurant
What we didn’t like so much :both restaurant we have tried : thé frits one we didn’t enjoy thé food and it was very expensive for what it was (19 euros a glass of wine) and second the service was awfully slow Even if there were a lot of staff .And the Guy who took our order was a bit cold .
But all in all a very good stay
Vila Vita Parc is probably the best hotel, no resort, we have stayed at.
Their attention to detail is excellent......the variety of restaurants was great, and each one we dined at was also excellent.
The childrens program for our 6 year old grandson was wonderful.
Every staff person was polite, helpful, and professional. Superb place to spend Christmas!
I have been going to Villa Vita for over 25 years & they just keep perfecting in all & besides the old Barrister at the Caffe near the Adega
This must be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The attention to detail and the service were absolutely fantastic. The grounds were expansive and offered any level of activity desired. The best part was the health club that was inclusive for all basic services such as sauna, steam room, etc, which is not very common in this area. I can't wait to come back one day!
We have just returned from another fabulous stay at The Vila Vita.
The hotel is one of a kind. We were on a bed and breakfast rate which suits us. Breakfast in the Atlantico is a wonderful experience with an excellent variety of foods and a spectacular view.
Rooms are fabulous and the attention to detail is outstanding.
Staff are amazing at this hotel. You are welcomed by everyone from the moment you arrive and they honestly cannot do enough for you. We have to say a massive thank you to them all for looking after us so well.
We are already planning a return trip!
If you get a chance to visit this fantastic hotel, you will not be disappointed!
Two of the three Michelin star restaurants were not open at all during my two weeks stay
Had I known that I would have rescheduled
Fine dining was one of the reasons I chose at this location
The staff and the grounds were impeccable
Beautiful resort with tons of amenities (although many not open in November/off-season). Enjoyed the indoor spa facilities, hotel lobby/bar and our room. Service not at 5-star level, especially in the over priced restaurants.
Huge, well maintained complex with many room options. We had a Deluxe room ocean view with our town terrace, overall very nice and comfortable. However the overengineered light system made it a daily puzzle in the evening to close all lights (and we had to cover a movement sensor with pillows to avoid bright light when one of us moved to the bathroom in the middle of the night).
A nice and spacious heated pool is available already in the earlier morning. Unfortunately the bathrobes are rediculously small and thin.
Breakfast is wonderful with a very wide selection of high quality, truly 5 star, most days on a sunny terrace. Good service.
Dinner in Artega restaurant was good, good food and wine, friendly service.
Dinner in Aladin restaurant was overall disappointing, professional service, but prices for food and wine heavily exaggerated, first courses with good quality, main course (fish) rather disappointing. As consequence, we thereafter went to restaurants downtown at walking distance with quite good dinner and wine offers.
The property is beautiful with great amenities. Our room was wonderful and spacious. The folks working there are welcoming, friendly and greet you at all times. The breakfast service is very good with a lot of options and great servers. Wandering around the premises, takes you to a couple of beautiful beaches. The only reason for a 4 Star is because there was a “pest” in the shower, which I brought to the attention of management but they didn’t do anything about it.
I consider Vila Vita Parc to be one of the best hotels in Portugal. The experience is exceptional, with a five-star staff and dreamlike facilities.
From check-in to check-out it was an unforgettable experience, the staff and the quality of the products. We are vey happy about our stay and we are looking forward to come back
After a long time, I have experienced proper 5 star experience and service. Great job by the staff at the check-in, concierge and the waiting staff at all the restaurants and bars. We really enjoyed our visit to Vila Vita Parc and this will definitely not be our first and last visit. The rooms are very good sized, very well furnished, and are cleaned 2-3 times a day. The check-in and check-out was smooth as silk. The dining areas and the menus are pretty good. I didnt try the Michelin star restaurant, Ocean, but the other restaurants were very good as well especially the Italian restaurant, Giardino. The Japanese restaurant, Mizu, could be better though. The drinks are expensive but worth the value as the services and ambiance is a great value add. We stayed for almost a week and enjoyed every day of the stay. Excellent experience. I will be a customer for the coming years.
This is the best hotel where I have ever stayed. The spa and health club were wonderful, and the food was excellent. I only wish we had stayed longer!
We spent a superb week at the resort. As always, the grounds were beautifully maintained, it really was a pleasure to be in the surroundings and I think of the resort as my sanctuary where I can truly switch off.
The family suite was spacious, homely and kept immaculately clean. We adore the pottery in the bathroom from Porches, it really shows the resort’s passion for the Algarve. And we were grateful to stay in the suite we requested, 23.
We enjoyed spending time at all pools and in particular had a chance to reconnect with Ermelinda, Fernanda and Ana whom are very special people.
The beating heart of the resort is the main bar, we loved spending time there and it’s a joy to see the wonderful team night or day. Service and drinks are top notch. Breakfast at Atlantico was always excellent, we love that there are two options, and Adega remains our favourite restaurant, although they are all very good.
Thank you for a wonderful stay, VVP. See you next year!
An enjoyable and memorable stay!
The location offers a stunning natural setting, and the architecture provides a unique and discreetly luxurious atmosphere.
The entire staff is warmly welcoming and exceptionally attentive.
Everything was perfect during our stay.
A peaceful and comfortable escape in a magnificent setting.
An absolutely lovely resort with a special quiet atmosphere to forget everything outside this place, where you relax and enjoy everything you like. The room is perfect for a couple, the bathroom with all things you need. Everything is clean and room and bathroom will be cleaned everyday. You have additional value like water, wine, fruits, coffee etc. The big parc and the pools are so nice and even, if many people stay in the resort, you will always find a place of peace.
