Eigentlich nichts. Die Musik in der Bar ist Geschmackssache.
Our second visit here, from the arrival and reception to checking out you feel a valued customer, unbelievable cleanliness, the room has been updated since our last visit and was clean and comfortable (however please let us cool the rooms on a night and have better control over the aircon)
Breakfasts were good, high quality food and lots of choice, great friendly staff)
We always ate out but the restaurants look good and busy.
Highly recommend a stay here
Agree with an earlier review by Gary B. Doesn't make sense that a hotel of this calibre with a "state of the art" aircon system doesn't switch it on in winter.
The 3 restaurants were all good but difficult to get into - so book online in advance if you can. Also, the earlier you book the better the table (as perceived by the restaurant - in the Oriental, that seemed to be the case).
Given 4 stars as the positives far outweigh the negatives. Housekeeping and Room Service are great. Pools (particularly Spa) are fantastic. Gives the sense of opulence and luxury.
Bathroom was great and well equipped. The gardens were superb, well kept. The breakfast was exceptional - most comprehensive buffet ever! Staff were helpful and friendly. Free bus service to the town provided by the hotel.
Restaurants nice but quite expensive as we’re all the spa treatments.
A fantastic hotel, with a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Nice rooms. A great pool area and spa, and very good restaurants. This was our second stay, it was as good this time as it was three years ago. We will return.
This was our first experience with a 5-star hotel and Botanico far exceeded our expectations. I could make a very long list of the wonderful features and ambience of this hotel, but sometimes it is the small, almost unnoticeable things that matter the most. What we tremendously appreciated was how QUIET it is. It must have been constructed to block noise between rooms and we heard little if any noise from the hallway. This obviously allowed for a calm, undisturbed and relaxing stay. Loved it!!!
Overall, but with some qualifications, we enjoyed another return visit to the Botánico, this time for seven nights. The hotel is a calm and elegant oasis in the La Paz district of Puerto de la Cruz, close to its famous Botanical Garden, and a good base for touring the interesting historic towns of northern Tenerife. The city centre is c. 2 km downhill, the northern airport is a c. 30 minutes by taxi and the southern one c. one hour.
The hotel continues the botanical theme with its own beautiful garden and offers an outstanding collection of local and Asian art in the public areas. The spacious spa offers a wide range of services and there are also well-designed outdoor pools.
There are several city and regional bus services close by and taxis are inexpensive. The hotel also offers a - somewhat limited - shuttle service to the city centre.
Breakfast is a sumptuous self-service buffet. There are three elegant restaurants - we found all of them good but not exceptional and quite expensive by local standards. And three of our four dinner bills had a mistake (once in our favour). The bar's club sandwich was the best we can remember.
All the staff we met were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
WiFi was easy to use but rather slow.
Our ‘de luxe’ bedroom, while adequate and with good lighting, was more four star than five star in ambience and furnishing. And the bathroom was three star - small and badly designed, offering a tiny shower with poor controls, and too small a bath.
We thought our room rate of over $500 a night (b and b) for a ‘de luxe’ SE facing room rather high in context. And some extras were seriously overpriced, e.g. the laundry charges, and $17 for a glass of ordinary wine from the minibar.
The Botánico is generally a relaxing and pleasant experience, and it offers friendly staff and an elegant ambience in its public areas. It’s five star by most criteria but our room, and especially its bathroom, were far from GL status.
Great room - very spacious with generous balcony (213).
Pillow selection is a nice touch.
Very helpful staff.
Beautifully clean and well maintained public areas and gardens.
Very comprehensive breakfast buffet.
We really appreciated the courtesy bus to and from the seafront.
Choice of 3 restaurants - we sampled two, that were very good.
Local restaurants easily walkable for more casual dining.
Location is good, being above the old town and therefore a little quieter.
Unexpectedly gift of cake and bubbles on my birthday was a lovely surprise.
Possibly the best hotel we have ever stayed in.
Very happy to recommend.
Very happy to recommend.
It's a beautiful (and expensive) hotel BUT we would NEVER stsy there again as it's like sleeping in a sauna because you cant use the air-conditioning to cool the room.
The information in the room says, "Our hotel is equipped with a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system... It's also quiet and easy for the guest to operate, allowing digital temperature control of your room."
But you can only warm the room as it's wintertime and the hotel has set it to 'heat only'. (I thought hotels, especially 5☆ ones, would have stopped doing this and allowed guests to actually chose the temperature they wanted (18°C in our case) - so much for 'state-of-the-art!!!). It is impossible to get the room below 22°C. We were told to open the doors to the balcony if we wanted it cooler which didnt work either. So a week of poor sleep, great!!!
Our second six-night stay in just over a year. There is no doubt this is the premier hotel in north Tenerife. The south (Adeje et al) have some worthy competitors but with the possible exception of the newly revamped Gran Hotel Taoro (bit sterile/corporate/souless) this is THE place in Puerto de la Cruz. Hands down.
The hotel is about 50 years old but has been exceptionally well maintained and renovated where appropriate.
The lobby was extensively remodelled in the last couple of years and is stunning. Canarian art in abundance throughout the property.
The rooms are well sized. Perhaps starting to show their age.
Sparkling clean throughout. Great housekeeping staff - best I have known.
Staff generally top-notch.
Excellent buffet breakfasts. Again, best I have experienced.
The grounds/gardens are its USP. Nothing to compare on the island. Just did an evening stroll across the wooden bridge straddling the massive pond system home go Koi and a pair of black swans...
The crowd - at least in the winter months - is in general terms NW European, 55 and up, & somewhat genteel. Exceptions apply, of course, but all welcome & rub shoulders well. Bar entertainmenr targeted to the above...
House fine dining restaurants a bit overwrought/stuffy.
I'm not exactly a Spa guy but very much enjoyed the occasional visit included in our tariff.
Handy free shuttle bus down to the old town. End's 7'ish. 25 min walk or 5 euro cab fare otherwise.
The hotel is very well maintained, the staff extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet enormous choice, Italian and Asian restaurant very good, Easy parking for rental car. Spacious junior suite with seaview. Definitively recommend this hotel.
End of January the guests were mainly elderly people, so maybe not the right place for people expecting an energetic ambiance.
An excellent hotel in all respects which fully deserves its 5 star rating. First class fact across the board with helpful, professional staff.
Gute Lage, sehr ruhig , schöne Zimmer
Einige Spa ( Dusche / Sauna) benötigen eine Reparaturen bzw. Schönheitsreparaturen
Personnel attentionné et bienveillant. Spa exceptionnel.
