It was phenomenal! we were treated like rockstars! The staff are amazing, and the bedding sublime. Plenty to do and see within walking distance
My daughters received kid crowns upon arrival and a free ride on the bellhop cart :) Norman was an amazing bellhop and friendly face every time we returned! Breakfast was incredible and our favorite waiter was Min, he was such a warm and kind person and the kids adored him!! 10/10!
Not a luxury hotel. No personal service. Atrium closed off for a wedding the time we were there and the music crazy loud. Room meh. Not a 5 star hotel. Spend a little more and book something better.
Check-in time over 1 hour.
Went on a girls trip to SF and had to have brunch at the Garden Court at the Palace Hotel. I hadn’t been there in 30 years. The buffet brunch was fabulous and our wonderful server Min made our meal extra special. Min was so kind, knowledgeable and attentive. He was one of the best servers we have ever had. The Garden Court is such an elegant venue transporting you back in time. It was the perfect ending to our fabulous trip together. And the buffet selections were delicious!!! Be sure to get a sticky bun - they even tasted better than they looked!
If this hotel was ever a five-star property, that must have been 30 years ago. Today, calling it "luxury" is completely misleading.
The experience started at check-in, which was incredibly underwhelming. There was no warm welcome, no explanation of basic amenities like Wi-Fi, and the staff member assisting me seemed like they had absolutely no interest in being there, let alone helping guests.
The first room was unbearably hot, and the thermostat didn't work. I was moved to a second room, which was only slightly cooler. It was dark, the carpet looked old and dirty, the nightstand was visibly dirty, and the bathroom sink had a large crack in it. To make matters worse, the room had a noticeable musty odor that never went away. I woke up the next morning with red, irritated eyes and now have to get through a 14-hour workday feeling miserable. Whether it was the air quality or something else, it certainly didn't make for a comfortable stay.
The "luxury" touches were almost comical. The hotel leaves little cards for complimentary coffee that felt more like coupons you'd expect at a roadside motel than amenities at a supposed luxury property. It's hard to reconcile those gimmicks with a hotel that claims to be in the same category as true five-star properties.
Throughout my stay, the staff consistently came across as indifferent and unmotivated. There was no sense of hospitality, no attention to detail, and no desire to make guests feel welcome. Hospitality is about making guests feel valued, and that was completely absent here.
The biggest issue is that this hotel is marketed as a luxury property. It simply isn't. Consumers book expecting a true five-star experience and receive something that falls far short of even basic expectations. The property's rating and branding are misleading and should be reevaluated because they do not reflect the condition of the hotel or the level of service being provided.
Whoever is responsible for managing this hotel needs to take a hard look at what luxury hospitality actually means. The current operation falls so far below five-star standards that it's difficult to understand how this property continues to market itself that way.
This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I've had, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for the luxury experience this hotel claims to offer.
Beautiful building, great location
The room was very small, with no place to put anything. There was a closet but no drawers or shelves anywhere. The bathroom had no place to put anything. On a good note, the breakfast buffet was great.
I had an amazing time at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Special thanks to Nilda for making sure I had an amazing time and making sure I got the amenities!
Stay here for the history, the gorgeous Garden Court, and convenient location. Friendly staff and nicely decorated lobby and hallways.
Line at check-in. Rooms are rather small and furniture needs an update. Noisy neighbors heard easily. Staff are great, and the lobby is grand, but the high guest count and modest staffing does not really give the feel you would get at a boutique 5-star hotel. Location is convenient, but not safe to walk alone at night. (Entire mid-Market Street area.)
La exelente atencion de las personas que trabajan en el hotel, todas muy atentas y amables.

Our Palace stay was so wonderful. Julie Murray, the hotel's executive assistant, ensured that we had the best room and service. Alexander, Cameron and Hilton made our stay so very special. The room was luxurious and a martini in the historic Pied Piper topped off each night. Highly recommended.
Main dining room is incredibly beautiful
Breakfast buffet was egregiously expensive for the quality of food- cold overfilled trays mixed with empty picked over stations, room service took way over an hour with no updates, construction obstructing room view and were not aware until the stay was non refundable.
I had a great stay at the Palace! They upgraded me to a suite both nights and the service was top notch. I had room service each day and highly recommend the bread and fruit plate.
The suites were really spacious, I had ton of room and great amenities. My only recommendation would be to ask which rooms are under construction since the hotel is undergoing renovations.
